I stayed for 1 month a year ago this past winter. It was a great location just off 5th avenue, PDC. The 1 bedroom unit was large and roomy. Well equipped. Bed was comfy. Decor is a bit dated but still nice and clean. Pool was very small with no sunshine in pool area, but public beach is just a 15 minute walk away. Overall, the hotel was a bit underwhelming but good.
I am a 50 y old Canadian and wanted a quick 4 day getaway after a long and cold winter. So, I booked ACANTO apart-hotel in Playa del Carmen on Expedia, just off their famous fifth Avenue [Quinta Avenida], and I feel I made the right choice. This place is less than 12 years old and is well maintained. Central atrium has a pool and some loungers. Like other parts of the Playa, most guests were Canadian, American, British, Dutch, German, etc. I felt very safe, as entrance is guarded, and after 11 pm you need to be buzzed in. A small convenience store just below this hotel, that sells bottled water, beers, snacks, fruits, fresh coconuts, etc Leticia and Jose Eleazar at the reception are absolutely helpful people, and can help you book excursions and you can pay in the lobby itself. No hanky panky, all legit. Its maintained well and very clean. Housekeeping is every 3 days. The included continental breakfast was complimentary and basic, but I am OK with that. Quinta Avenida is loaded with amazing eateries and restaurants, so you can literally step out and be at a table in under 60 seconds! You can't beat the location. Each apartment has a kitchenette and the 2 bedroom units also have dishwashers. AC has individual thermostats within your unit, so that's very good. If you have time, go to the rooftop and enjoy the amazing view of the Caribbean Sea. The ADO bus terminal is a pleasant 15 minutes walk on the cobbled Quinta Avenida, the ferry terminal is an extra 3 minutes. No vehicles allowed on Quinta Avenida, so its very pedestrian friendly. They also have apartments for sale, and those that are interested should reach out to the reception staff. I will go back again.
We stayed 2 weeks at Acanto. It is a peaceful oasis in the midst of everything ! We loved it! Close to the beach and the bustling 5th Ave. Breakfast was ok..basic continental breakfast. A beautiful place , rooftop views, well cared for, very clean and friendly staff. So nice to have the option to make lunch or dinner ! A perfect holiday!!
This was our 3rd time staying there. Love the location and the peacefulness once inside. Very comfortable beds and the morning breakfast is a wonderful treat.
The property is very well kept, perfectly located, and staffed by friendly, helpful individuals! The 1 bedroom suite gave us that extra room that helps make the stay more comfortable. The room was clean and quiet.
