We stayed here in September for 9 days and were impressed by the service levels given by every member of staff with whom we came into contact beginning with Haania at Reception who welcomed us. Our booking included access to the club lounge and full board (though probably half board would have been sufficient). The lounge itself is situated on the top floor and offers impressive panoramic views of the city. We normally took breakfast there and found it to be excellent with freshly cooked dishes available and coffee prepared by Shameel the barista. (The breakfast in the main restaurant on the 2nd floor is good, but essentially European in style with no Eastern cuisine alternatives.) During the day the lounge managers, Vishnu and Charm were always ready to help and give friendly advice on local matters.

Most of our meals were taken at the sports/gastro pub 'The Nine'. The menu is Western/English and we were never disappointed by the food there which was always well presented. John (Komiljon Kholikdodov), the restaurant supervisor and his team (special thanks to Renuka and Caroline), were always accommodating, friendly and professional. One minor gripe is that smoking is permitted at the bar and sometimes the smell of smoke drifts into the restaurant area. (Take out service is available however if you prefer to dine in your room.) An alternative venue on the package was the poolside restaurant on the 6th floor. We tried this for lunch one day, but even in the shade with a 'cooler fan' we found the heat to be too much for comfort, (in winter this may not be such a problem). The brasserie on the 2nd floor was a further alternative, but the menu did not appear to justify the extra charge.

Our room, on the 21st floor was a decent size at 55m² and had a clean, modern look. Soundproofing was excellent and that helped sleep quality (bedding and pillows were very comfy). The bathroom had both a tub and a large shower, plus bidet, toilet and double sinks. Perhaps the only minor criticism is that the room had a slightly cold 'minimalist' vibe and could benefit from a little extra decoration, fruit bowl or flower(s) etc.

The hotel is connected to the neighbouring Wafi mall, and during the very hot summer days this provides a cool, useful and easy place to shop, dine and take exercise.

In conclusion, we had a great, relaxing stay here. The 'hard' product is excellent but what made it special was the personal touch from the staff (the lounge team presented us with a surprise 'certificate' for our 36 year marriage and 'The Nine' restaurant team, including all the chefs came out to present us with a chocolate cake and bouquet after our final meal there. It is very rare to receive such attention these days). Finally we would like to give credit to some unsung heroes - the window cleaning team. Those guys are lowered on cables, individually, to regularly clean the windows in hot and humid conditions. They are real-life spidermen and deserve medals for their work!
