RIU Dubai — 15th–28th September
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Would I recommend the hotel? 100%. Would I recommend some of the guests? Now that’s a different review… 😂
From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was genuinely kind, welcoming and courteous, and they seemed to have mastered the rare art of being lovely even when surrounded by people behaving like they’d never been outside before.
A special mention to the ladies welcoming everyone into the restaurant — always smiling and friendly — and the lifeguards around the pools, who were brilliant.
We travelled with our two boys, who have additional needs, and the lifeguards went above and beyond to communicate with them, make them feel comfortable and included, and generally look out for them. That meant an awful lot to us as parents. ❤️
Now, unfortunately, the hotel can’t be held responsible for the behaviour of some of its guests.
The staring at our boys was uncomfortable, and the general lack of manners shown towards staff by some people was pretty shocking. Apparently, being on holiday in Dubai comes with a complimentary upgrade to “I can treat everyone however I like” for some guests. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. 😂
The weekends were particularly interesting. The hotel got very busy, and some local guests arrived and seemed to believe that sun loungers are actually part of a communal property scheme — moving other people’s belongings and taking over spaces as they pleased.
And then there was the family with the portable speaker being carried around in primark bag enthusiastically blasting music around the pool. Because obviously what every relaxing pool day needs is someone’s personal soundtrack following you around like an unpaid DJ. 😂
But honestly, none of this is a reflection on the RIU staff. If anything, the staff deserve even more credit for remaining polite, patient and professional throughout.
The hotel itself was lovely, the staff were exceptional, and the way they treated our boys was genuinely heartwarming.
So, RIU Dubai gets 5 stars from us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Some of the guests, however, may want to consider adding “basic manners” to their next holiday packing list. 😉

My stay at the Riu hotel offered wonderful service and a very relaxing experience from start to finish. The front desk team welcomed us with bright smiles. Our room was very clean and smelled fresh. They made the beds neatly and replaced all the towels. The buffet restaurant served delicious food every day. Waiters cleared the tables fast and always asked if we needed more drinks. The service remained friendly even during busy hours. The entertainment team was energetic and kind. They led fun activities by the pool without being pushy. Every staff member greeted us warmly in the hallways. Overall, the Riu service made our vacation stress-free and very special.
Amazing stay
We booked with TUI, but flight was with Emirates. Check-in was smooth and quick, and we were able to complete the online check-in before arriving, which made the process even easier.
Breakfast was always very busy, but we never had any trouble finding a table. There was a good selection of food available.
Lunch was definitely our favourite meal of the day, with the best variety of food, especially when travelling with picky and fussy eaters. The dinner selection was also good, although we personally preferred the choices available at lunchtime. We didn’t eat at the à la carte restaurants as we were travelling with fussy children.
There was a snack bar to get snacks during the day but we were never hungry so never went to the snack bar so can’t comment on the snack bar.
A special shout-out to Yoon and Laven, the waitresses in the restaurant. They were absolutely brilliant, always polite, friendly and welcoming, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble.
The sports bar was always very busy and, at times, felt like it could have been bigger to accommodate all the guests.
Around the pool, we never had any issues finding a sunbed. The pool itself was lovely and always kept clean. The lifeguards were very professional and were constantly keeping a close eye on the children, which was reassuring.
Our room was a Junior Suite and was very spacious, which was great for our family. On a few occasions we needed to request room service and items for the mini bar through the app, but this was never a problem and the requests were dealt with without any issues. Our room was always cleaned and if we forgot to put the cleaning lanyard on the door this can be requested via the app.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily return to RIU Dubai.
We visited the mall and the aquarium which was the best decision ever, we chose to do the penguin encounter experience and it did not disappoint.

Hello, We have stayed at your hotel four times now; our last visit was two years ago. We were extremely satisfied—truly very happy—which is why we returned.
However, the first day of our stay was very disappointing. The hotel no longer feels international; unfortunately, it feels Russian. The selection of drinks at the bar was limited. This improved over the course of the week, though there were still occasional supply issues. Nevertheless, there was enough to choose from, so we always found something we liked. The services—catering, housekeeping, the beach, and the bartenders—were flawless and luxurious. The staff were always smiling and very pleasant.
