Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I booked an overnight stay on the QE2 as a family experience and was genuinely excited. The ship itself is impressive, full of history, exhibits, models, memorabilia, preserved cabins, and interesting spaces to explore. Those aspects were the highlight of our visit.
Unfortunately, the hotel operation did not match the quality of the attraction.
We arrived at approximately 3:25 PM with a confirmed reservation and loyalty membership, yet waited nearly two hours before receiving our room. During this time, several families were also waiting because rooms were still not ready. The reception area was crowded, warm, and uncomfortable.
The delay caused us to miss activities we had hoped to attend and immediately started the stay on a negative note.
When we finally entered our room, there was a noticeable urine-like smell which required housekeeping intervention. We also discovered that our two-room family accommodation had only one TV remote.
The dining experience was equally disappointing. Dinner lacked variety and quality, with bland dishes, a powdery-tasting vegetable soup, and a dessert section dominated by cakes. Breakfast was even weaker. The only live station was eggs, and even boiled eggs had to be requested from that station. The overall breakfast selection was very limited and not what I would expect from a hotel of this profile.
What saved the experience was the ship itself. We enjoyed exploring the decks, viewing the exhibits, seeing the historic displays, and taking family photos throughout the vessel. The QE2 has tremendous heritage value and is absolutely worth visiting.
My conclusion is simple: the QE2 works far better as a museum and historical attraction than it does as a hotel.
Overall score: 4/10.
Me and my wife we couldn't even enter our room. During the registration process 4 lines in the reception desk were stocked for more than 1 hour with the same clients and i wasn't even attended. We needed to book the nights in another hotel losing our money and time in the lobby due to the hotel pathetic organization. I sent a complaint to them by Whatsapp and they didn't even reply.
I visited QE2 during the Eid holidays in May 2026 and unfortunately had one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. To make our stay more comfortable, I booked a Captain's Room, but the overall experience was extremely disappointing.
The check in staff appeared unable to handle the holiday crowd. Only two check-in counters were open, and each check-in took approximately 30–40 minutes per family. As a result, guests, including families with infants, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, were forced to wait for more than two hours before being attended to. To make matters worse, the air conditioning at the reception area was not working. Many guests became frustrated and were openly complaining due to the excessive waiting time and uncomfortable conditions.
I had a knee injury and was unable to stand for long periods. I spoke with the manager, Thareq, explained my situation, and even offered to show my medical reports. However, my concerns were completely ignored. I felt that he was showing preferential treatment to certain guests rather than handling the situation fairly and professionally. I would not recommend staying at QE2 during long holiday periods, as they do not seem adequately prepared to manage large numbers of guests.
The dinner experience was also disappointing. Being in the UAE, I was surprised by the limited quality and selection of the menu. Please think carefully before booking QE2 during peak holiday seasons.
The service, the food at lido was really amazing. My relationship was going throw ups and downs so we decided to have this moment to get a balance. A special thanks to James at the reception his service was top notch my only disappointment was the facilities. I will have wish the swimming pools was outdoor and also lack of activities to do during the day. But rest was amazing
Vile. Awful food and service. Bought 3 course plus tour package. No 3 course meal, instead an indigestible disgusting cold (when it shouldn’t be) buffet. About 4 main options, over cooked and cold - the cold chicken curry was all bone, totally inedible. Clueless staff, could not wait to leave. Do not come if you have any taste buds!
