Anantara Kalutara Resort

Welcome was so different and we have never experienced that in any hotel. Room arrangement, cleanliness and room service was excellent. Food was very tasty and big verity. Staff is very helpful and friendly specially Mr Shamal , Mr Lashan , sajana, Duminda, Ravindu, Sampath and Kavindu. We wish you all the very best and success all you do in future. Let’s start with service. It’s and easy 100/10 ♥️ I travel overseas and within Sri Lanka quite a bit but this is THE best hospitality and service I’ve experienced yet. First off…Krish was our first contact from the resort and he went on to manage our entire stay. He was exemplary. He arranged everything we asked for and didn’t even ask for with such promptness and care that we felt so well taken care of. He was simply the best! The staff at their main restaurant Olu were also amazing. Especially Chirantha, Kalpani, and Sasupun. Chirantha really was the greatest of all time. He anticipated our needs before we even asked. Our water glasses were never empty. They always remembered who wanted room temp, or iced or warm. If the omelet station took a bit of time, they’d offer to send it to the table no matter how full the restaurant was at the time. Breakfast was at full capacity and we had to sit outside. It was a bit warm. As I was only thinking this, they set up a standing fan to beat the heat so fast. Doors were always held open. They were ready to assist in every way possible and yet their service was done with genuine smiles and grace that their presence never felt intrusive. No matter how busy the hotel got, we felt the whole atmosphere to be private and intimate at each table. They have a unique way of welcoming the guests with a brief traditional dance upon check-in, and sending us off with traditional blessings upon check-out. It’s such a nice touch.

I won’t lie. I went there because my family’s usual favorite resort was already booked for the weekend we wanted. So I didn’t expect much out of the food. But it took me completely by surprise. The food was excellent ALL 3 meals we had during our stay. A few honorary mentions would be their buttery croissants, perfectly made bacon, black pork curry, batter fried prawns (so crispy and melted in the mouth), vegetable au gratin, hoppers, and crumbed fish. Usually at a buffet, you love some stuff and are kinda disappointed with the others. But it was not like that. I ended up trying a little bit of everything and loved it all. There’s enough variety to feel fulfilling without it being overly done. The desserts. Omg the desserts! Even at buffets popular five star hotels in Sri Lanka, I’ve been quite disappointed with the dessert part of the buffet. Sometimes it’s dry or overly sweet or hardened. Not at Anantara Kalutara. I was so so impressed. Every little dessert I tried was fresh and soft and full or flavor and balance. Their panna cottas, chocolate mousse cake, cinnamon & date crème brûlée, red velvet cake, and choux pastries were unparalleled. A special mention to their welcome drink!! Instead of offering the usual fair of mix fruit or whatever…they has the most amazing and unique hibiscus iced tea that I loved 🌺

We stayed at their Two Bedroom Villa with a Private Pool. It was so spacious and well designed. It felt like we had a little house all to ourselves with a kitchenette, complementary teas and Nespresso machine, dining table, living room area etc. We also received complementary wines and cheese. So generous of them. The entire space was designed with care to maximize guest experience. It was the little little things. Like the bench in the shower, the bath salts for the tub, custom cedarwood soaps, conveniently placed charging ports, a mirror to get a nice close shave (or the perfect winged eyeliner), placement of shampoos, conditioners, and lotions…I felt they thought of everything with care. The spaces are very beautiful. Love the architecture and design so much. It’s such a beautiful resort.

I think Anantara Kalutara just became my favorite resort in Sri Lanka. I’ve experience great service in a lot of other places but the staff at Anantara Kalutara was next level — they went above and beyond. I’m truly truly appreciative of how much they made us feel valued and welcome ♥️

We were there on a “Day Outing” package.. the food was absolutely amazing comparable to Anatara Tangalle. Though the buffet was not functional the day we visited, the set menu option did not dissapoint. Quality of food was great. Shashini was a great help organising the location was friendly, helpful and clear with her communication. The hotel was clean and with multiple areas to spend time at. Rooms were large and well maintained.
