Not up to Taj standards
This is my first time that I stayed at this property (Taj Samudra Colombo) for couple of nights as part of our corporate event with a very large group of colleagues.
Welcome and check-in could have been planned well considering the size of the group based on flights timings. Room was clean and spacious with amenities. Breakfast buffet was good with mix of continental and local options. Staff were very courteous and friendly. Special thanks to Yasiru for all the courtesies and great help during breakfast. Thanks to the gentleman (couldn’t remember his name) from laundry for quickly pressing few cloths for next day.
Now there are few areas for improvement.
- Asked for iron box and the box given had stains shockingly. Not expected at Taj.
- Food at dinner and lunch on all the days was very mediocre. We wondered if we were at Taj.
- WiFi was so so poor all the while and we were using hotspots of our roaming mobile connection.
Finally, it’s not bad but average (not up to Taj Standards). May be we had high expectations.

Taj Samudra Looking Over Vast Indian Ocean
We had a 3N-4D stay at the hotel with our family for leisure. Taj Samudra is a heritage and well-maintained property close to the sea and we could view the sea and hear the waves from our room at 6th floor. The property is lush green with beautiful landscaping. In the evening we took a stroll at the beach and could see lots of flying colorful kites covering the sky. The hotel has a good lounge facility (Taj Club Lounge) with variety of foods during happy hours. Mr. Sanjeeva & Mr. Amar are very cordial and take good care of guests. The Hotel has good gems and souvenir shops with good verities. In addition, it is having a good spa and swimming pool & gym. The food is excellent, and we always had plenty of veneration and non-vegetarian options. Highly recommended for people who love to stay near the sea and enjoy variety of tasty dishes.

For Yasiru at Taj
We had the most wonderful 3 days at Taj, and I must say it was one of the best hospitality experiences we have ever had. This was all because of Mr. Yasiru, the Manager.
His hospitality was beyond exceptional. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel so welcomed and cared for. He was always available, extremely courteous, and anticipated our needs even before we asked. His warmth, professionalism and genuine smile made our entire stay so special.
He truly made our day, every single day of our stay. People like him are the real asset to the Taj brand.
I would strongly recommend that such dedicated and outstanding talent be recognized and promoted. He truly deserves it. Thank you Yasiru for making our Taj memories unforgettable. We will definitely be back only because of you!
Lunch at Navaratne
Today I come to Nawaratne for lunch . Food is amazing & I was served by Pabasara & wX supervised by captain Lasantha . Environment is very calm & quiet . Keep up your good service . Hope to come back soon again
