Review of Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo
On the positive side, the reception and check-in process was smooth and efficient. The staff were friendly, courteous, and professional throughout my stay. I had requested an upgrade to a premium room and, although it was initially unavailable at check-in, the Duty Manager handled the situation exceptionally well. He took the time to explain the circumstances professionally and kindly waived the upgrade charge as a gesture of goodwill. His customer-focused approach was highly appreciated and reflected the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.
Unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant did not meet the same standard. Service was noticeably below expectations. Simple requests, such as providing a fork that should have already been on the table, took more than 10 minutes to be attended to. Refilling of food and beverages was slow, and used plates remained on our table for an extended period without being cleared. Based on what I observed, the restaurant appeared to be severely understaffed, which may have contributed to these service shortcomings.
Overall, the hotel excels in guest relations and front-office service, but improvements are needed in the restaurant operations to ensure a consistently high-quality experience across all departments. I would still recommend the hotel, particularly because of the professionalism and kindness shown by the front-office team and Duty Manager.
Great place for a conference
We had a conference for 2 days and the conference rooms were amazing. The staff was extremely helpful to make sure we had everything and kept everyone who stayed the night close to eachother
Service makes the difference
The property is old but efforts have been made to maintain it at an acceptable level. The hotel staff makes the difference when compared with other international chains. Room size is very good compared to newer properties.
