The ultimate end to our family vacation in Sri Lanka! Exceptional build quality, breathtaking ocean views, and a fantastic pool. You could easily spend the entire day enjoying the property itself

Mr. Meryll in the restaurant and Tharak, the Japanese restaurant cook, were both very, very good, very courteous, very polite, and very helpful. They really took very great care of us.

Beautiful hotel!
The Fortress is a lovely property and is larger than the usual hotel down south. The rooms are in immaculate condition, albeit we travelled during the rainy season!
The staff at the hotel were super helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant staff right up to housekeeping. Everyone was very warm and welcoming. A special shout-out to Harsha, Vishwa, and the team in the restaurant—the food was amazing, and the staff were very kind and courteous. Madhu at the front desk also helped out a lot with planning our nights out, for which we are very grateful.
We wish we had visited during peak season, but despite the rain and the choppy ocean, it was an amazing stay. We were lucky to catch a few sunny moments as well!
We will definitely be back again sometime.

Another Wonderful Stay at The Fortress Resort & Spa
Once again, we had a wonderful experience at The Fortress Resort & Spa. As frequent travellers who have visited many hotels, we especially appreciate the genuine hospitality and friendly service we experienced here.
I would like to specially mention Mr. Amith, the General Manager. In my opinion, he is a very experienced and capable hotelier and a particularly good fit for The Fortress. We recently heard that he may be returning to Amaya Lake, which was surprising to us, as we feel he has become a prominent figure at The Fortress.
Mr. Amith has the ability and experience to handle a hotel under different circumstances, and I believe his capacity and potential are even greater than what he is currently demonstrating. What we noticed most was that he has not created any distance between himself and the staff. He interacts with them in a very friendly and approachable manner, and this seems to have created a very positive atmosphere throughout the hotel. The staff also appear genuinely comfortable and happy working with him.
Compared with some other hotels we have visited in the Galle area, we particularly noticed that the staff at The Fortress serve guests with smiling and happy faces. Every member of the team we met was friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The food was also excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
Another special attraction is the turtles that come close to the hotel beach. It would be a wonderful additional touch if the hotel could place a small temporary signboard whenever turtles are spotted near the beach, informing guests that they are there. This would give guests a better opportunity to see and appreciate them and would certainly add another memorable experience to their stay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The combination of the beautiful location, delicious food, friendly staff and the warm leadership of Mr. Amith made our experience truly special.
Thank you to the entire Fortress team for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to visiting again.
