Positioned on Church Street within a UNESCO-listed 17th century fort, this spa hotel in Galle promises serenity, high-end service and gourmet modern dining, and makes a very welcoming retreat from the bustling cobbled streets of Galle Fort.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a wonderful stay at Fort Bazaar by Teardrop Hotels. From the moment we arrived, the check-in experience was warm, efficient, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel at home straight away.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with thoughtful amenities and an incredibly attentive team who were always happy to help. One of the little touches we really appreciated was the complimentary afternoon tea and the evening social hour. After spending the day wandering through the charming streets of Galle Fort, it was the perfect way to relax and unwind.
The pool area is a lovely oasis, and the food was excellent. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the menu offered a great variety of delicious options, and every meal was consistently well prepared.
Another highlight was the hotel’s own spa, which was the perfect place to recharge after long walks exploring the fort.
Overall, Fort Bazaar delivers exceptional hospitality with thoughtful details that make your stay feel special. We would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a boutique hotel experience in the heart of Galle Fort.
The best hotel we stayed in during our stay in Sri Lanka, everyone was welcoming, kind & helpful
This was probably the best hotel we stayed in - and not the most expensive. It was well located, friendly, the rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped and the staff were amazing. We had free afternoon tea as part of our stay (I think everyone did) and happy hour was between 5 - 6pm when all drinks were free with no exceptions. Nothing was too much trouble including arranging a very early breakfast before we had to leave for our return home - and it was just as full and delicious as the breakfasts on all other days. Would definitely return.
Sadly we only stayed here for 1 night during a tour of Sri Lanka. It was such a nice boutique hotel, with old world charm but modern facilities. Architecturally beautiful building with nooks and crannies round almost every corner,to sit, relax, swim, drink or listen to the birds. Galle Fort itself is a very quirky and busy setting, when you arrive in the hotel,it’s a relaxed, luxurious oasis, with the bonus of Happy Hour, free drinks between 5 and 6pm( yes I did say free!!). Friendly professional service from Insaf, who recommended the Sri Lankan Gin,which was so smooth and was also serving our evening meal and breakfast. Also, top notch care and attention to our whole stay from Nafhan. If you are in Galle Fort, stay here, the new evening menu is outstanding and even the English breakfast was good, for those wanting a taste of home.
This place is elegant luxury! The staff makes the stay really comfortable. The room was fantastic! Pool really refreshing after a hot day. Food was really nice. And there was a free guided tour in de morning which was very nice.
Only downside was that we didnt stay more than 1 night. Loved to stay longer.
