Sri Lankan cuisine is flavourful and rich, with dishes like rice and curry, hoppers (crispy pancakes), and kottu (stir-fried flatbread). Spices are used liberally, making the food vibrant and aromatic, with plenty of options for every palate.

It is generally safe to eat food in Sri Lanka, especially at reputable restaurants and hotels. As with any destination, it’s a good idea to stick to fresh, well-cooked food and drink bottled water.

Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended. It provides coverage for medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage, ensuring peace of mind during your travels.

Must-see attractions in Sri Lanka include the ancient city of Sigiriya, the sacred Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, the beautiful beaches of Mirissa, the lush tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya, and the wildlife at Yala National Park.

In Sri Lanka, it’s customary to remove shoes and hats when entering temples. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. Public displays of affection are often frowned upon, and it's polite to greet others with a slight bow.

Pack lightweight clothing for the tropical climate, along with sunscreen, a hat, and insect repellent. If visiting temples, modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is required.

The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends on the region. For the southwest and beaches, the ideal time is from December to March. For the cultural triangle and northern regions, the dry season from May to September is perfect.

Sri Lanka is generally safe for tourists. However, as in any destination, it’s important to take standard precautions like being aware of your surroundings, especially in busy areas.

The official languages are Sinhala and Tamil. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, and most signs are in both Sinhala and English, making it easier for visitors to navigate.

The currency used in Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Credit cards are accepted in most tourist areas, but it's a good idea to carry cash, especially in rural regions or smaller establishments.
