Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Make up room sign completely ignored every day so why have it! Asked the driver of the golf buggy to take us to our room one night, he replied walk. Other staff members great. Didn't have any food as breakfast looked tired and over priced. As previous reviewer said treat it as a holiday apartment and it's good. Grounds, location and beach nice.
The location and service is excellent. We had a wonderful time there . Thanks Madona for helping out in making it a memorable experience . Hope we will be able to visit again. Highly recommended.
We stayed in the Yellow House for 4 nights and it was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. The room we had was on the first floor, but it was a loft room, accessible via a tiny spiral staircase. Even the hotel staff had trouble getting out suitcases up the stairs. The room had no doors, AC Unit was under the window, so all the cool area was going down the stairs , so the landing at the bottom of the stairs was really cool, but our room was always hot , anytime day or night. A door would help to keep the cool air in.
The bathroom, windows were really dirty, windows didn't close properly. In fact a very old bathroom, needs complete renovation, even this will not help with the rest of the room. We were getting lizards in the room, and we dont know where they were coming in the room from. The lizards made loud sounds which was unnerving!
We understand that this is a very old property, however it is not suitable for guests to stay in. Th whole yellow house should be turned into an exhibition house showing the history of the hotel, which i guess would be interesting.
The whole hotel is past it's glory days, and whilst staff are helpful, it does not seem to be very well managed hotel, and not up to modern day expectations The food is boring and unimaginative.
The hotel occupies such a prime spot so it makes it even more disappointing that nothing is being done to bring this vast hotel to modern standards
We stayed at La Digue Island Yellow House for two days to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
The customer service was very poor, and the staff behaved rudely several times. On the first night at around 9:50 PM, we called the reception and asked for a bottle of water as we needed it to take medicine. They simply said the water machine was not working, the F&B section was closed, and there was no water available. The staff rudely told us to “wait until tomorrow morning” for water.
We had also planned a small cake-cutting celebration by the beachside for our anniversary. We only asked the staff for one simple help a lighter to light our candle. However, the staff responded very rudely and told us to collect one from outside shops. It was a very special moment for us, and this behavior completely spoiled the experience.
The room cleanliness was also very disappointing. The bed and blanket were full of sand, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. The bathroom was old and poorly maintained. We understand that the property may be old, but it definitely needs proper cleaning and repairs.
Also, on the day of check-in, they asked me to mention the check-out time, and I wrote 8:00 AM. They did not mention anything at that time. However, during check-out, when we reached the front desk at 8:00 AM, they informed us that the transfer to the jetty would only be available at 9:00 AM. If this had been informed earlier, we could have planned accordingly. Instead, we had to walk to the jetty with our luggage.
Overall, the stay was not worth the money, and it was upsetting that our wedding anniversary celebration turned into such a disappointing experience.
Very good experience in a A-Frame beach chalet for 4 nights. Top resort, very well situated with a great pool. Also good food and very kind personal. Don’t read all negative reviews, be objective and test yourself! I recommend this place.
