This great location is spoiled by this same hotel. No peace and quiet and definitely no sleep. The lovely drinks deck has blaring music or an amateurish band that feels the need to drown out any conversation. Retreating to the beach does not help as music often goes on late into the night and from the hotel on the other side of the beach. Never again
My cousin and I decided to celebrate our birthdays at Tamarina Hotel... and what an unforgettable decision that turned out to be!
As if the occasion wasn't special enough, the hotel had already lined up an incredible concert with Jason Heerah, who had flown all the way from Australia. What. A. Night!!
The atmosphere was local and authentic, the music phenomenal, and the party simply unforgettable.
From the very beginning, the Tamarina team went above and beyond to make our celebration exceptional. They thoughtfully prepared a dedicated space for our family and friends, and every detail; from the planning before the event to the flawless execution on the night was handled with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care.
We didn't just celebrate birthdays... we created EXTRAordinary memories - the type that make you smile with your phone when you look at the event pics again! ππ
A heartfelt thank you to Pravesh, Owen, Shane Raboude, and the Executive Chef Vishal Marday. Your passion, kindness, and attention to detail made our evening truly magical.
Thank you for making us feel so special. We can't wait to be back!

Please note that you need a car to get of the resort. Just a little advice.
I stayed here recently on my own as I was travelling for work. First and foremost, I felt safe and secure here as a woman on my own, which is the most important thing. The staff were so friendly and attentive, I arrived very early after a long flight and they squeezed me in for breakfast and let me in my room early. The rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean, I had a balcony and almost a view of the sea. The bathroom had a lovely big shower and plenty of storage. Very quiet air con which was much appreciated! The main buffet restaurant overlooked the sea which lovely in the morning. Food was pretty good, I only ate a couple of times in the evening so not sure how much selection there was. There was entertainment at least one of the evenings I was there - and an aperol bar which I will try if I'm there again! I didn't have enough time to use the pools spa etc so can't quite hit the 5 star, but I'm pretty sure it's nearly there. My one ask would be for a little more lightening outside the rooms at night, it was dark early and made way finding a little difficult! Otherwise, loved it.
My experience at Tamarina was amazing. The hotel is at the end of a road which takes 5 good minutes from the main road to drive to which makes it very quiet. The beach feels very private for that instance. The sunset is unbelievable and I was making sure to arrive back at the hotel on time to see it. The access to the Flic-en-Flac beach through the path in the wood is very convenient which leads to a nice run. The roads around the hotel are good which is easier for driving. Lots of roundabouts! Access to the north and center of the island (and the Black River gorges National Park) is easy. The hotel is not big which leads to a nice cozy atmosphere. It never feels crowded (maybe because it was the off season) and yet not empty. I had a room with view on the garden. The sounds of the ocean is still pretty loud which is amazing. And it still felt private to stay on the balcony. The room was huge for me and I loved it! The room was cleaned everyday and things were not moved around when it was specifically positioned. Very thoughtful. The room had some little things here and there: a pen mark on the curtain, some paints here and there that would need readjusting and the temperature of the shower that takes time to transition but it wasn't a put off for me. If I wanted a 5* hotel, I would pay for one. This is for me already a very good level of service. The gym was unfortunately being refurbished. They offered to go to a gym 10min drive away. I will admit the laziness to leave the hotel to go exercise took over but they offered a service at least. And it was a good excuse to go running instead. I didn't have time to use the spa but I was told by a previous client that it is very nice. I booked the catamaran day through the hotel which is very convenient as I didn't have to drive to the marina. The food was very good. I loved trying the different desserts and the crΓͺpes in the morning! The food is a mix of local and international food. I stayed 5 days and was able to eat different food every night. And finally the best part of the hotel is the staff. They are all extremely friendly and accommodating. As I was traveling solo, they made sure I was having a good time which led to good conversations. I thank them for their hospitality and kindness. And a cute kitty is around.
