We had an absolutely amazing holiday at Esplanade which is right on the beach front and in walking distance to a supermarket, butchery and car hire. Very clean and spacious apartment. Beautiful garden and pool. Well maintained property.

A lovely, child friendly resort with wonderful sea views.
We recently spent 8 days in Horizon's Esplanade resort in Tamarin. There were six of us including two small children and we found the Deluxe unit spacious enough for all of us. The unit was tastefully decorated and had everything we required for cooking, washing and ironing. The staff were friendly and very helpful especially Anne-Sophie for whom nothing was too much trouble. We had a glorious view of the infinity pool and the sea from our unit and both were only steps away from our deck. The sunsets were amazing and we made time every day to enjoy them. We were within walking distance of shops, including a Food Lovers Market and restaurants. There was a large supermarket a few minutes drive from our resort. At our request, Esplanade organized for a chef to come to our unit and make us a traditional Mauritian meal. They also organized a dolphin viewing boat trip. Black River Gorges National Park is fairly close to Tamarin and worth a visit. Esplanade is a perfect place for a relaxing beach holiday. The beach goes on for miles and is great for walking, looking at shells and rock pools.

Perfect Holiday
We had an amazing holiday at Esplanade. All Staff are just great, very helpful and friendly at all times. The ground floor 3 Bed unit has everything to make a holiday there felling at home and chilled. Here and there a few things require maintenance, but overall the property is in a perfect location to do tours, explore local restaurants.

Self catering apartment in Paradise
Esplanade Apartments in Tamarin, Black River, Mauritius consists of 9 x 3 neat and clean 3 bedroom apartments and 2 penthouses.
We booked a ground floor apartment. Each bedroom was equipped with air conditioning and a fan and it's own en suite bathroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven and washing machine. Crockery and cutlery also provided. The apartment is provided bath and beach towels for each guest. The apartment has a large kitchen with an open plan diningroom and lounge onto a patio with outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ.
The gardens are well maintained and you are a few steps from a magnificent infinity pool with loungers and you are directly on the beach.
The beach is lovely with a few rocks. There is a reef closeby for snorkeling and the beach is ideal for swimming.
Horizon apartments are also serviced Monday to Saturday and the beds will be made up, bathrooms cleaned and dishes packed away.
It is also possible for an additional fee to arrange for rental of bikes, SUP boards, kayaks and other tours.
There is a Food Lovers Market 4 minutes walk from the resort. It does not have a butchery section, but there is a butchery next door. The bakery has a lovely selection of freshly baked breads. Go early to avoid disappointment. We found it more cost effective to take a taxi a but further up the road to London Supermarket where we were able to stock up on our grocery requirements.
We found the prices more expensive than in South Africa but still more affordable than eating out for every meal for our family of 6.
I would not suggest this as a suitable location for a family with teenagers as it is quite isolated with no nightlife nearby.
It was perfect for us and we enjoyed the peace and quiet and awesome sunsets.
You are only a taxi ride away from wherever you need to be, Cascavelle Shopping Centre is approx 20 minutes away by taxi.
There are numerous taxis available and the local bus is also an option.
We found that the appliances were all labelled in French but we were able to overcome that obstacle with the use of Google Translate.
We used Tamarin as our home base and experienced the various parts of the island doing various tours.
This is a very cost effective option for a larger family situated in a beautiful part of the island.

Very nice place to stay, friendly staff. Unfortunately we did not have hot water for showers / baths. Only enough warm water for one guy to shave at a time. They could not sort this out in a weeks time.
