When you’re looking for the perfect holiday, it’s nice to have some assurances. The Casuarina Resort & Spa at Trou aux Biches is a well-rated resort hotel known for its relaxed atmosphere and scenic lagoon-front setting. It’s perfectly situated just a short stroll from a lovely sandy beach and an enclosed lagoon (with its own coral reef). In keeping with its tropical environment, the resort features thatched roofs and a design that helps it blend into its surroundings.
Guests can unwind beside two inviting swimming pools surrounded by palm trees and lush gardens or take a leisurely stroll through the resort’s beautifully designed outdoor spaces. Dining is a highlight, with three restaurants serving international dishes and local specialities. The main thatched-roof restaurant opens onto the pool terrace, creating a relaxed setting for meals throughout the day.
The Casuarina Spa, tucked away in the gardens, offers a calm retreat with treatment rooms, a hammam and a small relaxation pool. A range of massages and beauty treatments is available. For more active guests, the resort offers kayaking, glass-bottom boat trips and cycling, while the nearby village is also within easy reach.
Each room is designed for comfort, featuring a private balcony or terrace with views of the gardens, or ocean views for a supplement. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, safe, hairdryer and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Guests looking for extra space can opt for one of the thatched cottages, which offer a more private setting and the option for self-catering. Please note that not all cottages include a kitchenette and hall — these should be requested at the time of booking if required.
The Casuarina Resort and Spa really is perfectly placed in beautiful Trou aux Biches. There is so much to see and experience here and so much wonderful relaxing to be done too!

Located in the picturesque coastal village of Trou aux Biches, Casuarina Resort & Spa is a charming four-star retreat and a proud member of the Worldhotels Comfort Collection – reflecting its consistent standard of quality and hospitality. Just a short walk from a beautiful white sandy beach and a tranquil lagoon protected by a coral reef, the resort blends naturally into its tropical surroundings with thatched rooftops and traditional Mauritian architecture.
This is a great choice for a holiday in Mauritius. It is located in the north of the island and is the driest and warmest part of the island during their winter months. It is an hours drive from the airport. The hotel is located straight across the road from a beautiful beach. The beach has free to use sunbeds for guests of the hotel. There is also free use of kayaks, canoes and surf boards. There are some rocky areas as you walk in to the sea in places, so you should definitely wear beach shoes. There is also a beach bar which does cater for those on all inclusive to either collect or have drinks brought to you on the beach. I believe that this was sold to us as a four star hotel. But by other countries star rating I would say it is a three star hotel. The rooms are quite basic and I would describe them as a bit tired, but don’t let this put you off, you really should try this hotel. It won’t stop you from having a great time. The hotel is very clean and you will see staff all day long cleaning and tidying areas. The atmosphere is very relaxing and laid back. Mauritians are very friendly, welcoming and courteous people. The pool areas and bar are very relaxing, not the best for those who love to maximise their suntans, as there are sail type shades above every sunbed. Plus you are naturally in the shade by around three o’clock. But if a suntan is what is required you have the beach across the way. I would say that the pool and bar areas are not wheelchair or push chair friendly. There are gullies surrounding the pool area, which cause wheels to become lodged and difficult to get out off. Watched this for myself on more than one occasion. Every review for almost every hotel in the world will complain about the food. Brits love to complain about food as if they are gourmet experts. The truth is that the food here reflects their culture which is heavily curry influenced. For some countries this is great, but for us Brits this is nothing out of the ordinary as we can access curries anytime we like in our country. We were given a dining experience as part of our holiday package, and were both hoping for something other than curry by this time. So when we were given an Indian style starter followed by four different curry mains EACH, we were left feeling disappointed. There was enough food here for six people, and ultimately there was a lot of waste. But again don’t rule this place out, there are always other options. There are individual food stations cooking each night. It might be fish, octopus, tuna, lamb or beef. There was also pasta on a few nights. There are cold options as well. So don’t be put off. You will find something.
We stayed at the hotel for 1 week on an All-Inclusive board, and had a great time. The whole holiday was very relaxing and enjoyable.
This review is based on our All-inclusive experience.
We stayed in a superior room which was spacious, clean had plenty of storage. The air conditioning was good, the TV was large and WIFI good. There was also Tea & Coffee making facilities. Everyday our mini fridge was restocked with a large bottle of water and a small bottle of 7up and Pepsi. The bathroom had a great shower and there was always hot water. Towels changed daily.
The food at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was fabulous. Everything was fresh and had flavour. There was a good “English Style” and continental breakfast choice, with fresh egg station. Both Lunch and Dinner had a choice of curry dishes and there were other meats dishes and pasta. For desert there were small cakes and ice cream.
Between lunch and dinner there was afternoon “tea time’, where fresh crepes were made, and either samosas or spring rolls (rotating daily) and cakes. There was also a coffee machine.
The hotel’s gardens where well maintained and the beech was just across the road and had sun loungers. The hotel also offered free water activities to choose from, including glass bottom boat, paddle-boards and pedalos.
All the staff throughout the hotel were brilliant, polite and always on hand to help. We can’t praise them enough. The Entertainment team were always positive, the bar staff busy and the restaurant team fantastic, all working hard. Just a few mentions to make, Stephane, Anoushka, Loic, Youshi, Steeve, Roonal.
The only suggestion we could make is for the WIFI to have better range, for around the Pool and Beech area. But it is good within the rooms and inside the building space.
We would definitely recommend and return.
We had a spa day. Irsha is really nice and welcoming.
Thanks to Steeve, Ramen, Mahen, Stephane and Chef Kendy for accommodating for us! Service was great and we had a very good lunch!
We had an amazing stay at Casuarina Resort & Spa and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mauritius. The biggest highlight of our stay was definitely the staff. Every single member of the team was kind, professional, efficient, and genuinely cared about making sure guests had the best possible experience. They regularly checked if everything was going well and were always happy to help with a smile. You can truly feel that they care about their guests.
A very special thank you goes to Shiva, who made our arrival and stay unforgettable. Even though he wasn’t required to, he welcomed us with a wonderful breakfast and a delicious drink. From the very first moment until the end of our stay, he was always incredibly available, welcoming, and attentive. Despite being constantly busy, he always found the time to help us with a smile and make sure everything was perfect. His warmth, kindness, and positive energy made us feel like part of a family, and he truly accompanied us throughout our holiday in the most genuine and caring way. He is a wonderful person and one of the main reasons our stay was so memorable. We would also like to thank Romeo at the reception. He greeted us every day with a warm smile, was always kind and professional, and provided us with all the information we needed throughout our stay. Another special mention goes to Anoushka, whose genuine smile, kindness, and friendly attitude made every interaction a pleasure. She was always approachable and ready to help. The hotel itself exceeded our expectations. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The food was excellent, offering a wide variety of international dishes as well as delicious Mauritian specialties, with something different to enjoy every day. The beach is beautiful and very convenient. It is located just across the road from the hotel and is equipped with comfortable sun loungers, making it easy to relax by the sea whenever you want. We also enjoyed a couple’s massage at the spa, and it was a fantastic experience—professional, relaxing, and definitely worth trying. Overall, the quality-price ratio is excellent. We felt that every aspect of our stay was worth the price we paid. The outstanding hospitality, excellent facilities, delicious food, beautiful beach, and relaxing spa made this a truly memorable holiday. We would happily return to Casuarina Resort & Spa and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with exceptional service. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special!
