Allergy specific review - I suffer for a severe nut allergy and the restaurant staff at Victoria Beachcomber were brilliant at accommodating me with special food when needed. This made my stay and my families stay a lot less stressful. The chefs showed me round the buffet every day and the waiters and managers were all aware of my allergy. They gave me a special nut free dessert every lunch and dinner. Superb service and highly recommended for anyone with an allergy. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were cleaned and tidied daily. The water sports on offer were limited due to the coral reef, only certain times of the day when high tide. We thought there would be more water sports available all day for the adults and kids. The weather in August was warm but not too hot, 24-25 degrees every day. We had rain most days and several times a day but this is normal for a tropical island like Mauritius. Overall a great holiday for a family of 6 but we did have to do lots of additional paid day trips to keep everyone entertained for two weeks. The food was good and the staff were amazing.
My husband and I have traveled extensively all over the world, and I can confidently say that the Victoria Beachcomber has earned a spot in our top 5 favorite hotels and destinations. We stayed here from August into September to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish.A massive part of what made our trip so seamless was the incredible service from Rubesch in Customer Relations. Even before we arrived, Rubesch helped us organize several bookings and stayed available throughout our entire stay whenever we needed him. We want to extend our most sincere thanks to him for his exceptional personal service, which ensured our holiday flowed perfectly without a single issue. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, and we felt celebrated from the moment we stepped through the door. On arrival, we were greeted with bubbly, snacks, and a lovely fruit basket. We stayed in the Victoria for 2 of the hotel and found the entire team to be outstanding. The bartenders and waiting staff were incredibly polite, attentive, and simply couldn't do enough for you. The beach service was equally brilliant. If you love activities and the ocean, this is the place to be. The water sports were plentiful and readily available whenever we wanted them. Plus, the ocean straight off the beach is an absolute paradise, filled with a mass of beautiful fish.I do have two quick pieces of advice for future travelers: The Food: While the food is absolutely lovely, our only constructive feedback is that it isn't always served hot. Beach Excursions: Be cautious about who you book trips with on the beach. We highly recommend "Vava Voom"—they offer great trips out to sea that are relatively good value for money. However, do your homework, as we unfortunately got ripped off by another boat operator on the beach for a fishing trip that was rubbish to say the least. Despite those minor points, our stay was magical. Thank you to the entire team for making our 20th anniversary so special. We would highly recommend this beautiful resort!
We recently returned from a fabulous trip to Mauritius with our teenage children (15 & 13) and were blown away by the hotel, the setting and the Island itself. However it was the incredible professionalism and friendliness of all staff at the Victoria Beachcomber Hotel that stood out the most and ensured that we made the most of a stunning 10 days.
My daughter is anaphylactic to peanuts and the food and beverage team were amazing! They ensured all food was prepared in the kitchen from scratch to avoid any cross contamination and prepared some wonderful meals and puddings so she didn't miss out!
Special mention to the following:
Waiter Bachoo – friendly, funny and always willing to help (including topping us up with Rose wine liberally on the first night!). When the restaurant was busy he would always ensure my daughter's food had been ordered even if he wasn’t serving in that particular part of tbe restaurant. A real credit to the hotel.
Waiter Dheeraj – if you want cool, calm and professional then Dheeraj is your man! We had 5 star service, throughout our stay, and nothing seemed too much effort. What was really lovely to see, was the support and guidance he gave to the trainee waiters despite how busy the restaurant was.
Chef Amir – for the best club sandwich my daughter will EVER eat! It was worthy of a Michelin star, and made her day!
Devan- assistant Food & Beverage Manager and all round superstar – we can't thank you enough for taking such great care of our daughter, and us all. You literally gave 100% and went above and beyond to put in place some special touches to make our stay the best ever!
Chef David and all other chefs- it’s never easy catering for allergies, but you are all amazing, and we thank you for looking after us so well!
The Nautical club – you guys are fabulous! We watched you walking to the beach each morning laughing and joking, like a group of friends having the best time. But you take your work seriously and it was great going snorkeling and to hear you talk about “looking with your eyes, not your hands and feet” to protect the coral & surrounding area. Special mention to Julian – always smiling and great company. To the ‘old man’ running the show, thanks for trying to get us out to see dolphins, we appreciate your help but the weather just was not on our side... maybe next year!
Great hotel, amazing staff – can’t fault it in any way!
We came here for our honeymoon and overall, we were very happy with our stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. Ibrahim and Kishan, who were taking care of our room, were especially attentive and always asked if we needed anything. We really appreciated their kindness and great service.
The food was generally very good, and we especially loved the L’Horizon restaurant.
As for the negative points, the beach was not entirely sandy, and the water in our room was not replenished daily; it was only replaced upon request. Since complimentary bottled water is provided in most hotels in Turkey, this was a little different for us and slightly unexpected.
Nevertheless, we were very satisfied with the rest of our experience and had a lovely honeymoon. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay enjoyable!
Absolutly fantasic experience, really loved our Butler Tonny
