We stayed at Mythic Suites over the weekend and booked a one bedroom villa. We were warmly welcomed and showed around by the team. The villa in itself was good, nothing much to say apat from the bathroom lightning which is very dim specially if you have to do make up. The pool area was ok but need maintainance as the wooden decking looks a bit damaged, and the sun loungers are not properly in place thy are kind of all over the place. We asked for a late check out but it was refused since there was check in just after,, very unfortunate as we could have had 1 hour at least since we arrived late on the eve. Anyway I'd say not very flexible. Apart from that the rest was fine.
No one goes to Mauritius but stay far from water
This will never be repeated. Very good for locals, not tourists
Stayed with family for a week in a 2 bed apartment. Apartment was clean, very spacious with fully furnished functional kitchenette and utility room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The house keeping team was excellent in making sure the suite was spick and span every day. We had breakfast included in our stay. There were options for Mauritian and continental breakfast, and both were really good. We also had New years eve dinner and a la carte dinner which were very tasty and beautifully presented. Very nice swimming pool and a decent gym. They arranged airpot pick drop and pick up and a rental car for us. Grand Baie shopping and major beaches are around 10 to 15 minutes drive. Staff were very helpful and any issues were sorted quickly. Will happily stay again.
We had a very pleasant weekend. We had a 4 bedroom villa which was very clean, spacious and well equipped. The team was also very attentive and professional.
The apartment itself was lovely and very spacious. We booked a three-bedroom apartment for 17 days for only four people specifically because we wanted the extra space and comfort, and we certainly had plenty of it. The beds and pillows were comfortable, all three bedrooms had air conditioning (although the living room did not) and the apartment was cleaned daily. As part of our package, we also received a complimentary dinner, and the food was genuinely delicious. Service at breakfast (included) was warm, friendly and generous, which was a huge positive of the stay.
Unfortunately, the positives were significantly overshadowed by a number of issues. We didn’t have consistent hot water for the first three days. The problem was looked at on several occasions but was not finally resolved until day four. The overall maintenance of the building also seems to be lacking. The bathrooms felt quite tired and in need of repair, we had flickering lights in a bathroom and one of the bedrooms, and we couldn’t get either of the two TVs to work throughout our stay. There was also a persistent wafting sewerage smell in one of the bedrooms coming from the bathroom.
There were also repair works being carried out directly outside our apartment on several days. We were not advised in advance that these works would be taking place or given any indication of how long they would continue, adding yet another source of disruption.
The biggest issue, however, was the relentless noise. The property repeatedly emphasises its strict no-party policy, so we reasonably expected a peaceful and relaxing stay. In reality, it was anything but. On several separate occasions throughout our stay, neighbouring guests were partying late into the night with loud, thumping music and yelling and squealing. This was not an isolated incident or simply one bad night, but a recurring problem that significantly affected our ability to sleep and enjoy our stay.
Despite complaining about the noise several times, and being told that the guests responsible had been asked to stop, nothing really changed and the problem continued to occur. We simply received repeated apologies for the inconvenience while the advertised “strict no-party policy” appeared to have little practical effect. At no point were we even offered the option of moving to a quieter apartment, despite our repeated complaints and the ongoing impact the noise was having on our stay.
I had specifically requested a ground-floor apartment due to mobility issues for one of our guests. While this request was accommodated, I didn’t expect to be able to hear virtually everything happening in the apartment above us. We regularly heard people running and thumping overhead, including the grating noise of furniture being moved around constantly (why?!) throughout the day. I realised once onsite that ground floor wasn’t necessarily required since there were lifts to all the apartments.
When it wasn’t loud music and partying late at night, it was running and thumping overhead during the day, trolleys being rolled around outside the apartment in the morning, or repair works taking place outside. Peace and quiet was difficult to come by at any hour.
The accumulated lack of sleep became so bad that the only saving grace was that I booked several days at other hotels during our stay, where I could finally get some sleep. Of course, this meant effectively paying twice for accommodation for four people on those days simply to get the peace and rest I had expected at the apartment we had already paid for.
What was particularly disappointing was the complete lack of any meaningful compensation or gesture of goodwill despite the multiple issues. Even when we asked for a late checkout, we were initially told we would need to pay extra, with the only complimentary extension eventually offered being until 12:30 pm. We ended up leaving before 12pm as we decided to book another hotel for the day before flying out.
The spacious apartment, comfortable beds, daily cleaning, breakfast and delicious breakfasts and dinner were definite positives, but they were overshadowed by the lack of any meaningful response to the problems we experienced. A “strict no-party policy” is fairly meaningless if it isn’t actually enforced, and repeated apologies only go so far when the same problems continue to occur.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to party, make plenty of noise and apparently face few consequences, this may be the perfect place for you. If, however, you’re looking for the peaceful and relaxing stay that the property’s policies might lead you to expect, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
