Veranda Grand Baie Hotel and Spa

A pleasant hotel with lovely staff in a busy area of Mauritius. The hotel area is quite windy but walk away from the complex and you can easily find a calm area. The hotel facilities are good with excellent exercise options. The rooms are spacious and good quality, kept very clean. The hotel is set in a tropical garden with many tropical birds and palm trees. All in all a very good holiday.

Veranda Grand Baie – Good Location, but Service Needs Improvement stayed 3/5/25

The resort is made up of several blocks, with the cheapest rooms located towards the rear of the complex. The rooms are a good size and of a reasonable standard, with a nice balcony. However, if you are allocated a room in the rear block, be aware that there is a nightclub directly opposite. The music can be very loud into the early hours of the morning. The balcony doors are wooden and single-glazed, so they do little to block out the noise. You can also hear groups of young people shouting and talking loudly as they leave the club, sometimes sounding as though they are right outside your room. The all-inclusive package is quite limited, with only basic food and drinks included. You do receive a discount on food and beverages that are not covered by the package. All-inclusive service does not start until 11 am, which is worth bearing in mind. The drinks and cocktails are served in proper glasses, which is a nice touch. However, the service at the bars is very slow and can be frustrating. Sometimes you place an order at the bar and the staff forget about it, even when you follow up. The coffee in the restaurant is also prepared at the bar, and we had to wait around 30 minutes to be served. At the beach bar, there are several seats without cushions, making them difficult to use when the area is busy. Overall, the beach bar seating & service could be much better, particularly when it comes to speed and remembering customers’ orders. On the positive side, the hotel is in a good location. You can easily walk into town, where there is a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. There are also plenty of other places to explore along the beachfront. Free water sports are available at the hotel, which is another bonus. Overall: The hotel has a good location, decent-sized rooms and some positive features, but the slow service, limited all-inclusive package and potential nightclub noise are significant drawbacks. If you are considering booking, I would recommend requesting a room away from the rear block and checking exactly what is included in the all-inclusive package before travelling.
