LUX Grand Baie and Residences

I’ve had the opportunity to experience some beautiful hotels, but LUX* Grand Baie in Mauritius is one that genuinely stands out, and for reasons that go far beyond its stunning property.

First, the hotel itself is absolutely spectacular. From the beautiful architecture and thoughtfully designed spaces to the incredible restaurants, fantastic drinks, gorgeous beach, and overall atmosphere, everything about this place feels special. There’s a certain energy here that’s difficult to put into words. It’s luxurious without feeling overly formal, sophisticated yet lively, modern, stylish, and effortlessly inviting. There’s a personality to this hotel that makes you want to spend time enjoying every part of it.

The food was consistently amazing, the drinks were excellent, and the service throughout the property was outstanding. But what I appreciated most was that the experience never felt like luxury for the sake of luxury. It felt like a place that truly understood how to make guests enjoy themselves.

And while the property deserves every bit of praise, there are two individuals who deserve very special recognition for making our experience something I will genuinely never forget: Ayoush and Manoj.

First, Ayoush, who takes care of guests in the beach area.

There is good service, there is great service, and then there are those rare individuals who take hospitality to an entirely different level. Ayoush is one of those people.

His attentiveness throughout our stay was nothing short of remarkable. He consistently anticipated our needs before we ever had to ask, and there were countless little moments when he went out of his way to make our experience better simply because he noticed an opportunity to do so.

And to me, that’s what makes someone truly exceptional at what they do.

Anyone can provide good service when something is requested. But it takes a different level of care, dedication, and genuine pride in your work to continuously look for ways to make someone’s day better without ever being asked.

That’s exactly what Ayoush did.

His kindness, politeness, professionalism, and work ethic were evident in everything he did. Even while working incredibly hard, he always carried himself with warmth, patience, and a sincere desire to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Nothing ever felt forced, rehearsed, or transactional. His hospitality felt genuine, and that’s something you simply cannot teach.

Ayoush didn’t just take care of us during our stay. He became one of the reasons our stay was so memorable.

I genuinely hope the management at LUX* Grand Baie understands what an exceptional individual they have representing their hotel. People like Ayoush are the difference between guests leaving satisfied and guests leaving with memories they will carry for years.

And quite frankly, writing this review feels like the very least I can do for someone whose efforts deserve so much more recognition.

I also want to give equally heartfelt recognition to Manoj, our driver, who made our final day and journey across Mauritius an experience in itself.

What could have simply been a day of transportation and sightseeing became one of the most enjoyable and memorable parts of our trip, and that was entirely because of him.

Manoj was knowledgeable, thoughtful, professional, incredibly kind, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best possible experience. Rather than simply following the itinerary we had planned, he shared his local expertise, offered wonderful recommendations, and helped us make the most of every moment.

But what made Manoj truly special wasn’t just his knowledge of Mauritius or his willingness to go above and beyond. It was the way he made us feel throughout the entire day.

There was a warmth and sincerity to him that made the experience feel less like spending the day with a hired driver and more like exploring a beautiful island with a close friend or family member. The conversations, the stories, the laughs, and his genuine interest in making our day special were things I appreciated more than I can express.

He could have simply done exactly what was asked of him and called it a day. Instead, he took a personal interest in our experience, guided us with care, and made the day infinitely better than anything I could have planned on my own.

Even when an unexpected situation arose, he went out of his way to help us resolve it, without hesitation or inconvenience to us.

Manoj, thank you for so much more than just getting us from one place to another. Thank you for your kindness, your company, your generosity, and for sharing a piece of Mauritius with us in a way we never could have experienced on our own.

I genuinely enjoyed every moment of our time together, and our day would not have been remotely the same without you.

And that brings me to what I believe makes LUX* Grand Baie so exceptional.

Beautiful hotels exist all over the world. Incredible restaurants, luxurious rooms, stunning beaches, and breathtaking views can all be found elsewhere. But the feeling a place leaves you with is something entirely different.

LUX* Grand Baie has managed to create an experience that combines all the elements of an extraordinary luxury resort with an atmosphere that feels vibrant, welcoming, personal, and genuinely enjoyable. It’s the kind of hotel where the surroundings impress you immediately, but the experience makes you fall in love with the place.

And people like Ayoush and Manoj are a tremendous part of that.

To the management of LUX Grand Baie: I sincerely hope both of these gentlemen receive the recognition they deserve.* Their dedication, professionalism, kindness, and genuine commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences reflect incredibly well on your property. They are the kind of people who turn a wonderful vacation into an unforgettable one, and their contributions should never go unnoticed.

To Ayoush and Manoj personally, thank you both. You may simply see yourselves as doing your jobs, but please know that the impact you had on our experience went so far beyond that.

When I look back on our time in Mauritius, I will certainly remember the beautiful beaches, the incredible food, the spectacular hotel, and everything we had the opportunity to experience.

But some of my fondest memories will be of the people who made us feel so genuinely welcomed and cared for along the way.

LUX* Grand Baie is an extraordinary hotel that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Mauritius. And if I ever have the opportunity to return to this beautiful island, there is absolutely no question that I would love to stay here again.

Five stars for the hotel. And if I could give Ayoush and Manoj more, I would do so without hesitation.
