Set amongst a coconut grove bordering the seafront, this luxurious boutique hotel makes an ideal base for a relaxing get-away on the island of Mauritius. The surrounding area features a wide range of leisure activities, including golf, diving and big-game fishing. The hotel has windsurfing boards and a number of boats available for guests' use, and kite-surfing classes can be arranged with advanced notice. The hotel has three restaurant options, one on-site, one on-board a historic motorboat. Breakfast is provided, and guests can enjoy a delicious complimentary afternoon tea. The guest accommodation comprises 30 rooms and six suites, some less than ten metres from the sea. The rooms are stylishly furnished, and have a terrace, bathroom, air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
If you are not French, do not stay here. You will be treated as a 2nd class guest. Whilst the hotel itself is fairly nice and well equiped, what becomes painfully obvious after a few days is that there are 2 tiers of guests - the French, who are engaged with warmth, smiles and non stop service; and then there is everyone else. After asking for a drinks menu, every night at dinner, multiple times - still without joy half the time, we just gave up in the end and settled for the bottled water (and before anyone jumps to a conclusion - we are not daytime drinkers, so it was not the case that we had turned up to dinner under the influence and obnoxious - i just wanted a coke most of the time).
Its a shame, as it could be such an amazing experience but the service completely let's it down, and really ruined the holiday for us, by the end we couldn't wait to leave.
Stayed for 4 nights as a couple, our first hotel in Mauritius. There is so much to like about this hotel. It is located on the beach, on a relatively quiet road, behind a pair of fantastic old wooden doors. We weren't too sure about the first room we we shown, as it was adjacent to the restaurant and we felt it might be a tad noisy; we were moved promptly without any fuss, and our request for feather rather than foam pillows was dealt with similarly. The room was spacious, with two balconies, an outdoor shower (as well as an indoor shower) with a fabulous view over the gardens, the beach and Grande Baie. We had a half board package and ate in the restaurant every evening. The range of choices and quality of the food was really, really good. Prices are similar to a good restaurant in the UK, but worth it as everything was cooked just right, with some amazing flavour combinations. Similarly the wine list, whilst also similar if not more expensive than UK, had some great selections. Breakfast could not be faulted. The hotel has a small pool, surrounded by sunbeds; there are also sunbeds on the beach, towels are in plentiful supply, and complimentary afternoon tea and cakes are served daily. Great place to stay.
We booked 4 nights to end our holiday in Mauritius following the wedding of our daughter at another hotel. We wanted a hotel to relax and unwind after a hectic week of celebrations. we definately found this in the 20 Degrees Sud ! It is a small luxury hotel, only I believe 32 rooms, but big on service. Prior to arrival we were well supported in all our communications by Karen, what an Ambassador for both the hotel and Brand Relaise Chateux ! On arrival we were pleasently surprised to have been allocated a beach side suite, a stunning room with great views of the Bay. There is only one restaurant, but that is enough for this size hotel, with the opportunity to sit by the pool or beachside. All the staff were so polite and friendly and there was the very nice added touch that the GM, Lindley, both welcomed and ensured he said goodbye on departure, plus throughtout the stay always had time to ask how things were going. My wife is Coeliac and needs Gluten free meals, this was not an issue at all and they would always adapt or prepare an alternative if there was nothing suitable on the menu. A special thank you goes to Mohammad (very discrete and so helpful), Frederick, Laval and Reshmee, but that said, all the staff were equally helpful. We did go on the hotel boat, Lisbeth, for evening dinner, this was an experience and well corordinated. The food was delicious if you like seafood, I do. Just one point to note, "Lisbeth" only caters for 8 persons and you need to remove your shoes on boarding (leave on jetty), then part of the evening you sit on the deck for drinks, so you need to ensure comfotable clothes that allow you to sit cross legged, albeit on a cushion. The beach is small, but never got full, so always sunbeads available, and the sea is OK for swimming but in only a limited area due to shallow water and rocks. These latter comments are only to give a "heads up" if you have not visited before and does not detact from the luxury of the hotel. There are available Windsurf Sail Boards, canoes, snorkling trips and a very useful ferry which only takes 10 minutes to the town (Grand Baie) across the bay. I would highly recommend this hotel for luxury, food and relaxing surrounds, but it also fits well if you want a two destination holiday like we did ! Just book it, you wont be dissapointed.
Beautiful hidden location, unique experience, outstanding rooms, facilities and food and overall truly perfect few days away. The staff are highly professional, friendly and go above and beyond to ensure the best experience. Everything is to the highest quality and has as yet been unmet anywhere we have stayed. Feel privileged to have had the chance to stay here and want to express a special thank you Karen and Sunil.
I stayed at La Maison 20 degré sud for a weekend at the beginning of June because I’ve seen lots of social media videos about it. My experience fell a bit short of what I expected and I was somehow disappointed. It is a boutique hotel in the north claiming to be a 5-star… I didn’t feel like it was one. From arrival the greetings were very average, we met a lovely security guard who brought us inside then were sat and waiting for 30 minutes or so in an empty bar area.. with am artificial orange juice as welcome drink.. not very 5star.. The hotel was not full and the staff were… not outstanding, they showed unwillingness and lazed around speaking mostly to each other.. Room was okay, smaller than we expected and a bit old, the toilets were filled with small flies all over the wall which was annoying. Amenities were ok but not wow.. The only 5-star was the quality of food served at the restaurant, nothing to say. It was a 10/10 , service was ok nothing wow. There are very few activities to do. Its better suited for old aged couple of romantic couple of a honeymoon - even for them 2 days would be a lot. There was merely any entertainment live music stoppend at 9PM… then nothing. Overall I was not very satisfied and will not recommend this hotel.
