Cosily nestled in the midst of centenarian banyan trees, overlooking the lagoon of Pereybere, this enchanting spot offers the magical cachet of a natural environment coupled with the discreet luxury of a boutique hotel. Offering an exotic blend of culture with good service, this hotel's unique design combines authenticity and simplicity. The rooms and suites enjoy a peaceful feeling. The hotel hopes to instil an infinite sense of calm and comfort into guests' holidays. All well-appointed rooms feature rustic and crafted furniture. The hotel has 1 swimming pool with a whirlpool. Non motorised water sport activities are included in the package as well as sauna and hammam. You can also book a massage treatment at Hibiscus Spa or for those who love diving, the hotel provides a diving center, No Limit Divers, with a professional Padi Master Diver specialised in SDI & TDI.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Disappointing Experience Unfortunately, my stay did not meet expectations. The service lacked professionalism, and several basic standards were not respected. Issues raised during the stay were not handled properly, which made the experience frustrating. Overall, this hotel does not reflect the quality it claims to offer. Improvement in management and guest service is strongly needed.
So before arriving, when asked what time we would be arriving, we estimated between 11.00 and 12.00. As we couldn’t find the check in time on our booking we went for that and arrived about 11.30. We arrived to a warm welcome and help with our luggage from the car.
We were then advised that check-in was 14.00 and our room wasn’t ready but as soon as it was available we would be able to check in. Well that was fine as we didn’t expect to wait too long and the reception area had nice big comfy seats while we waited. The receptionist seemed on top of everything so we were happy.
About 13.00 a German couple arrived, they were obviously returning guests as the ‘senior’ receptionist met them and clearly recognised them. They were then shown to their room about 13.30. Fine we thought, perhaps they have different type of room booked.
We didn’t actually get into our room till about 14.30 (30 minutes later than check-in) and we later found out that they actually had the same type of room as we did. So it looks like they arrive about 2 hours after us and got the first room available. This didn’t go down well with us.
Anyway we didn’t want to let that spoil our week and I’m glad we didn’t. Our room was very nice with a large bedroom (with a fridge) and spacious bathroom with his and hers wash basins and a large shower.
The hotel is quite compact but still has plenty of little places to chill out, in the gardens, poolside, beach bar, etc. It is a hotel with character, not a franchise, perhaps a little bit of TLC needed but it is open 12 months of the year so I guess they will always be due some maintenance.
We enjoyed a couple of sundowners most nights at the beach/pool bar before dinner at the happy hour (buy one get one free). Always freshly made cocktails, lovely.
We went half board but didn’t always fancy what was on offer in the evening (but that was our choice, not to eat there, so no complaints). What we did eat was very good quality for a buffet. Breakfast was consistently good with everything you could want.
There is a small gate in the restaurant with a path leading to a beautiful, quiet beach. Its about 50 to 100 metres tops. There is nothing there so take water if you plan spending some time there. The water is crystal clear and the beach runs very gently into the sea. On the other side of the hotel is a busier beach with everything you need. The hotel will give you free vouchers if you want to use the pedalos or kayaks. You can also get street food and drinks at many of the huts here.
Alternatively there is the small pontoon that you can use for direct access into the sea for swimming and snorkelling.
There are a few shops and restaurants in the vicinity so there is plenty of choice. There is also a ‘Winners’ supermarket at the far end of Pereybere (easy walking distance).
One thing I particularly enjoyed was that I could bring in snacks and drinks to my room. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio with a cool drink.
Overall this is a great hotel that won’t break your budget. It’s in a great location with loads to sea and do in the area.
We chose this hotel because of the excellent fishing opportunities in Grand Baie and were specifically looking for a small, quiet place to stay. Prior to booking, I even contacted the hotel directly by email to clarify a few details. Unfortunately, the delayed and ultimately unhelpful response I received should already have been a warning sign.
In my communication, I clearly stated that we wanted a quiet room, away from the restaurant and bar areas. We booked a Deluxe Double Room with sea view and balcony. However, upon arrival, we were given a ground-floor garden room directly opposite the restaurant and the Zoo rooftop bar—the exact opposite of what we had requested.
When I raised this issue, the response from the Sales Manager was frankly unacceptable. I was told that if I was not satisfied, I was free to change hotels and should take it up with my travel agency. This is not the level of service one expects, especially after making specific requests in advance.
We were informed that no alternative room was available that night, and while they could “check again tomorrow,” nothing could be guaranteed. Meanwhile, our room had a loud and leaking air-conditioning unit, making it impossible to get any proper rest.
As a result, we made the decision to rebook another hotel at our own expense and left the next morning.
To be fair, the receptionist, Keven, was empathetic and tried to assist, and the front office manager was also friendly. However, the lack of professionalism, care, and accountability from the sales side is deeply disappointing. A Sales Manager represents the hotel—without genuine customer focus and ownership, the experience feels inauthentic and ultimately undermines the entire stay
Great location, wonderful staff, food was good, entertainment every night, room was nice, comfortable the whole experience very chilled, would come again....one thing gym needs some kettlebells.
What a lovely hotel this is. Room was huge (I had upgraded to deluxe). It had a view to die for and any issue I reported was immediately dealt with. Food was delicious - choice was limited but I was happy with this as all food was freshly prepared with nothing preprocessed. Staff were fab, couldn't do enough to make guests feel comfortable during their stay. Location was excellent, and the private beach was beautiful for a swim and sunbathe. This was a big holiday for me and it was lovely. There are only two minor things I reduced my score by. 1. Please put ice-cream into stainless steel containers - it would look so much nicer than plastic. 2. Alcohol is expensive on Mauritius (£28.50/bottle of wine) but when the only available bottle is the most expensive and the cheaper ones are not available to purchase it is disappointing (I tried twice, then gave up and then settled with a glass of house wine £7); I had felt pressured into upselling which was disappointing.
