A truly fantastic stay at the Prince Maurice. The staff were so attentive, professional and friendly - sorry names are not my strength. The food in the main hotel restaurant, Archipel, was the best hotel food I have tasted - treat followed treat followed treat, although special mention for all the fish and seafood curries. Used the gym a few times which was good, very friendly guy there. Wife had a massage, and we borrowed bikes to go to Flacq Market, which was well worth a visit. Did some water-skiing kayaking and aqua aerobics. Very interesting tour of the very impressive wine cellar. Weather was perfect for us too, midwinter days in the mid 20s.
Only one main trip out - to Tamarin Falls for a morning's hiking in a small group with excellent guide. Really enjoyable. Sunset at Barachois bar is amazing.
Yes drinks minibar lunches etc not cheap but you do get complimentary water pineapple and ice cream around the pool. All in all a fantastic week in a really top-class hotel with lovely vibe. Bbccris
I cannot say enough fantastic things about this phenomenal resort.
Everything about it was just amazing. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. It feels really genuine and we felt welcomed and cared for from the moment that we arrived to the moment we left.
The rooms are gorgeous. The weather was beautifully hot and sunny with cloudless skies, yet the rooms were always cool and refreshing. The showers and amenities were superb, the minibar and other features were excellent and get restocked daily, and I slept brilliantly every night.
The pools and grounds are superbly tended and are immaculate. There are private beaches where you can lie in the sun and the staff just come and bring you anything you ask for, and you can swim in the sea if you want to.
There is a spa with lovely, relaxing treatments.
And the food....oh my goodness the food!! It was all absolutely spectacular. Breakfast, lunch, dinner....all of them delectable every day. The breakfast selection has hot food with different kinds of sausages and eggs every day (amongst other things). There are tons of different fresh fruits and jams every day; pastries for the sweet tooth, freshly made-to-order crepes and waffles, and an assortment of drinks. Basically whatever you could ask for.
There are three restaurants in the hotel and the food from all of them was unbelievable. Massive variety, including daily specials using whatever the catch of the day was for the fish option. Just an indescribable level of quality and variety of the food. There is also a terrific wine cellar and the Sommelier was very knowledgeable and charismatic.
The complex is set aside from being near anything, whilst also not being far in terms of travel by car. We visited the local market one day, and went on a Whale Watching excursion on another. The hotel organised the travel and cars each time, and we even had a massive freshly made breakfast for each of us in the morning when we left for the day trip.
The island and surroundings are naturally beautiful, the weather was fantastic, and the resort is peaceful, quiet and calm. It is just a wonderfully relaxing and idyllic place. I completely loved this whole experience. Hopefully I find myself in a position to be able to return one day.
This was our 5th stay at this wonderful hotel and it just seems to get better every time we go (if that’s even possible!). This time we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my husband’s retirement and they really did pull out all the stops. It’s so lovely to see the same faces providing impeccable customer service with such attention to detail, making our stay so special. We really do feel like part of the family!
It’s really hard to single out specific people as everyone, from the top down, just made us so welcome and satisfied our needs in every way possible. However, there are some people that we’d really like to pass our thanks on to:
Our room maid - our room was beautiful with an amazing sea view and was always spotless - thank you.
At the Archipel/Asian restaurant - Anousha, Yash, Gloria, Guillaume - thanks again for brilliant friendly service.
At the Barachois - thanks to Sundeep & Carene for making our anniversary meal so special!
At the bar - our friend Lorenzo - your cocktail inventions were amazing as always!
The Princely Villa was open to all guests due to soft refurbishments going on in other parts of the hotel. This was a great experience made extra special with the fabulous service from Sundeep, Okin, Rajesh, Vicky and Pradeep (hope we haven’t missed anyone - all were great here).
Concierge - Cheyenne & Yash - so helpful & friendly as were all the concierge team.
We also had an amazing massage at the Spa and would like to thank our lovely massage ladies!
We’d also like to thank Sebastien & Sylvabelle for our catch up in the wine cellar and for making sure our holiday was so so special! (Pete says he’s looking forward to a game of golf next time!)
Finally, thanks once again to all the amazing people at Prince Maurice who make this hotel so unique and exceptional. Hopefully look forward to seeing you next year for our 15th wedding anniversary!
If you’re considering staying here, don’t hesitate - just book it! We would highly recommend it and our message to Prince Maurice is ‘please just continue as you are’.
Thanks so much Laura & Pete Edmondson
This hotel never ceases to impress. The ambience, views, facilities, food and drink and lovely rooms, never fail to live up to expectations. This year, on my 14th(?) return visit, some of my family came to help celebrate my 70th birthday and the hotel pulled out all the stops, including a private dinner with bespoke menu in the Princely Villa with rum-tasting aperitifs, wine-tasting in the incredible cellar, complimentary massages, pedicures and facials, and arranging a private whale-watching trip for my birthday. (Yes - we did get up close and personal toa family of sperm whales - amazing).
As usual, it is the staff and the attention to detail which make this hotel so special. We were greeted by name at every meal, they remembered our personal likes and dislikes, they were incredibly attentive and friendly (but not overly so) and nothing was too much trouble. If we made a request, it was dealt with immediately, and who wouldn't enjoy having sunglasses cleaned and cocktails, fruit and ice-cream brought to you on the beach by the lovely Vicky and Rajesh? There are many too many fabulous staff in the restaurants to really single anyone out, but Santoo, Gloria and Meneesh were all stand-out. The managers Sylvabelle and Sebastien made sure our stay was perfect, and even though the hotel was undergoing a "soft" refurbishment which meant many of the beach villas and the Asian Restaurant were out of action, so the usual room upgrade was not available, the use of the Princely Villa as an alternative restaurant and use of those pools, meant we were still able to enjoy a quiet, relaxing time away from the drilling and work. The "basic" rooms anyway are wonderful and very well furbished. We had three rooms over-looking the lap-pool and lagoon.
Many, many thanks to all at Constance Prince Maurice for another memorable stay. I shall return, of course!
We recently hosted our civil wedding at Constance Prince Maurice, and it was truly a magical experience from start to finish. A very special thank you to Rachelle and Yash from the concierge team, who went above and beyond to make our day extra special. Every small detail — from the decorations to the music — was thoughtfully taken care of. Their follow-up and assistance throughout the planning process were simply extraordinary. Beyond that, every single member of staff at the hotel was friendly, polite, and delivered some of the best customer service we've ever experienced. We also had dinner at Barachois and L'Archipel, and both restaurants served exquisite food, with outstanding service from the waitstaff. We spent two nights at the resort with our family and had a truly lovely and relaxing time. Thank you to the entire Constance Prince Maurice team for making our wedding celebration so unforgettable — we'll treasure these memories forever!
