This lovely boutique hotel is located in East Coast and boasts a beautiful beach location. When designer Camille Walala saw our bright blue skies, pink sunsets, green sugarcane fields, and the explosion of diverse paint colours used to decorate the houses in our village, it was love at first sight. And with local makers creating the furniture, art, and finer details, the Mauritian influence comes through loud and clear. It makes our boutique hotel completely unique.
The hotel offers a range of activities for guests to enjoy throughout their stay. Guests can soak up the tropical weather whilst taking advantage of the outdoor swimming pool and sun loungers, or even enjoy a range of water sports and on-site activities like horse riding, or why not take part in a traditional cooking class, this way you can enjoy the amazing cuisine at home!
The hotel features an on-site restaurant, a bakery and 3 bars - including a rooftop, beach, and pool bar. The restaurant uses woks, tandoor ovens and wood smoking for a range of its meals, giving its guests a more authentic feel.
Located in Belle Mare, SALT of Palmar boasts a stunning location on the beach. Guests will enjoy a visit to Flacq Market, after this, guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the nearby beaches, Palmar and Belle Mare Beach. Many holidaymakers like to enjoy the great outdoors with activities such as mountain biking and hiking/biking trails.
We spent five days here for our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are very tidy, thoughtfully designed, and have everything you need. We especially loved the hotel's unique vibe—it feels like a luxurious 1970s Los Angeles pool hotel, complete with funky music and a great atmosphere.
The activity program was fantastic, offering everything from snorkeling and Muay Thai to a cocktail-making workshop. We had an especially great time with our martial arts instructor, Kenny, and the bartender, Bahvish, who is incredibly passionate about the art of crafting cocktails. They both made our stay even more memorable.
My wife and I spent 12 days at this hotel and had a very enjoyable stay. We would recommend booking a room with an ocean view, as it added a lot to the overall experience.
We originally booked our stay without breakfast but decided to add it upon arrival. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add breakfast for only part of the stay; it has to be booked for the full duration. In our opinion, it was worth it. The breakfast buffet offers a good variety, and you can also order two à la carte dishes each morning. We especially appreciated that the bread and jams are homemade, which gives the breakfast a nice touch. There was enough variety so that breakfast did not feel repetitive, even after 12 days. A few premium dishes and drinks are available at an additional cost, but we did not feel the need to order them, as the included selection was already very good.
The rooms were always clean and well maintained. We particularly appreciated that they were mopped daily rather than only superficially cleaned.
The hotel’s direct access to the beach, the comfortable sun loungers, and the included activities made the stay pleasant. Fresh beach towels were always available.
The hotel restaurant serves good food, although we also spent time exploring the island and often ate at local restaurants. If you plan to discover Mauritius, renting a car is very convenient. The hotel offers plenty of parking spaces for guests.
The staff were consistently friendly, and the overall service during our stay was very good.
We had a very enjoyable time here and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mauritius.
What a beautiful hotel with excellent service! We celebrated a special occasion with an evening event here and it was perfect from start to finish. I especially want to thank Mr. Rishi Mahadoo, whose professionalism and attention to detail made everything went smoothly ! Coordination was on point. Will definitely be back! :) Cheers Gregory G
A lovely hotel in an idyllic and very quiet location. The beach is on a lagoon, so the water was usually perfect for swimming or paddling. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and was almost without exception made from Mauritian ingredients. Special mention must go to their exclusive restaurant, Tek Tek, where a limited number of guests sit around an expert chef who cooks a delightful series of courses right before your eyes. The cocktail selection was very broad and, like the food, was themed around Mauritian ingredients. I only visited the spa once for their basic massage package, but the staff were great and very keen to see to a customer's specific needs. They had a lot of different spa treatments too, for those more interested in that sort of thing. I stayed on the hotel grounds for my whole trip, but the hotel advertised and organised plenty of excursions and experiences around the island for those who want to get out and about. Sadly, I was dreadfully lazy and didn't visit the gym, so I can't comment on that. I stayed in one of the beachfront rooms, with a wonderful view of the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean. The sunrises were gorgeous. The balcony was nicely secluded from the adjacent rooms for privacy. My room was comfortably furnished with lots of big pillows on the bed and a very decadent walk-in shower. All-in-all, I was delighted with SALT of Palmar and would recommend it to anyone!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at SALT of Palmar. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we felt genuinely welcomed by the entire team. The Mauritian hospitality is something truly special, and every staff member was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile.
The hotel itself is beautiful, stylish, and very relaxing. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a perfect holiday.
The food was outstanding. Every meal was fresh, varied, and of excellent quality. We especially enjoyed the breakfast and the dinners, which offered a great selection of local and international dishes.
The beach is stunning, with crystal-clear water and a peaceful atmosphere—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Mauritius.
A special thank you to the entire SALT of Palmar team for making our holiday unforgettable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing experience in Mauritius, and we hope to come back one day.
Thank you for everything!
