The benchmark for all hotels for us
Our 2nd time at Belle Mare Plage and it lived up to the high regard we had. Call out to Damree who looked after us in the main restaurant, Jayesh our housekeeper who, even with his communication challenges, was friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Chef Abhishek who taught us how to cook a curry. Finally Chef Veer, the Indian food specialist in La Citronelle. We learned so much about Indian food, his patience and generosity knew no bounds. All the staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Sheena gave me a wonderful facial in the Spa. The food is awesome, the setting is lovely (quite windy but keeps the temperature down and low humidity). Having use of 2 excellent golf courses (all free if all inclusive) is another huge bonus (kept hubby happy) and the golf staff are fab too. The French Sake (who knew!) experience was interesting and the sommelier (forgot to note his name) in the Blue Penny very informative. Just need to save up to return again.

A Luxury resort. With the best service
We stayed in a two bedroom garden villa. This is the highest quality. The service provided by our butler Ravin and our house keeper Deep was exceptional, absolutely nothing was too much trouble. The butler even responded to our request when he was at home and off duty. This accommodation and resort is the epitome of first class luxury. We booked half board but be aware that you can only dine in two of the restaurants without paying substantial additional A La Carte prices. Drink prices were at 5 star level and comparable with London west end prices, something to consider. However we bought alcohol in local supermarket for in room consumption which was acceptable. Cabs are readily available and controlled by the hotel again good quality but at a price point much higher than Uber.

Blue Penny Cellar- Wadie Sommelier
Blue penny Cellar Must go in Mauritius of you are a wine lover! Very impressive wine cellar! The biggest wine cellar in the Indian Ocean. Wadie, the sommelier, is so passionate about the wines that it gets infectious. He suggests wines based on your preferences, for a reasonable price! Strongly recommended!
Real tropical paradise
This hotel is a real tropical paradise. Lovely atmosphere, live music, palm trees, food was delicious and I want to thank all the staff that made us feel welcome - especially for Vada, who made our breakfast special and guys from the diving centre - Joel, Guillon and Chris. :)
