Cocoon Maldives

Cocoon Maldives is faultless!!!! I read all the positive reviews on here and thought ‘that can’t be right there must be some negatives’ but no, the reviews are right, there are no negatives!!! From start to finish it was incredible, we got off our seaplane to the most beautiful welcome, felt like royalty, so much so it made me quite emotional and I had to fight back the tears!!! Then we were introduced to Nappe our island host, fantastic guy who made sure we were looked after all week. Dined in Mantra for my 50th, incredible and well worth the extra spend. Food in the buffet restaurant is really good, there is a different theme every night, you won’t get bored if you don’t want to spend any extra on the paid restaurants. Cocktails on the all inclusive were varied and really good, whiskey apple smash was our favorite 👌🏻 Room was cleaned twice everyday so every time we returned to the room it was clean, beds made and fresh towels, far above your standard hotel service. Great snack bar but be warned you do have to pay extra for this. Lots of trips to do, we did the sunset cruise which was stunning 🤩 Then there’s the island itself WOW WOW WOW, breathtakingly beautiful 🏝️🤩 To sum up…i can’t recommend this place enough, it is absolute paradise 🏝️ I’d return in a heartbeat 💓 if you’re undecided just book it you won’t regret it!!!

The location is great. Not so close that you need to take a speedboat, but not so far that the seaplane ride gets tiring. The flight took about 35–40 minutes. The island itself is quite big — there's space for walks and for jogging (but that wasn't us =) ). We stayed on the far side from the reception and the main restaurant. So three trips to the restaurant and back, plus a circle or two around the island to meet the quota for filling up the vacation photo album — and that's already 13–15 thousand steps.

It was our first experience with the Maldives, so we were pleasantly surprised by the concept with a personal manager for the whole trip. For us, such a pleasant companion was Umi. She met us right at the exit from the plane (and she was waiting exactly for us and somehow recognized us, seeing us for the first time), gave us a tour of the island, helped with information about the hotel activities, got snorkeling masks for us, and helped with other questions from hotel and island newbies.

We stayed in a Suite Pool. A big and comfortable bungalow for one couple. Funny, but the toilet and shower are basically almost under the open sky. We really liked how the passage to the bungalow is decorated and how you exit from it through the veranda to the beach. On the sides everything is planted with greenery, which creates a feeling of privacy. The personal exit to the beach is indeed a living arch, which creates shade both on the veranda itself and for the sunbeds. We had no questions about the room, its equipment, or any worn-out renovation — none at all. The island is quite well covered with Wi-Fi. In the room there were also no problems with it. Separately worth mentioning the minibar — everything except strong alcohol is refilled every day and all of this is included in all inclusive.

Besides the main restaurant, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner take place, there are two bars: the main one next to the restaurant and the common pool, and the second one on the opposite side of the island (right by our bungalow). The bars also have an all inclusive section in the menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of cocktails included in it. About the restaurant and the food — no questions at all. Everything was magnificent. Every day the menu theme changed (India, Morocco, Japan, etc.). Everything is tasty, anyone will find a dish to their taste. Separately I'll note the pastries — they are simply magnificent.

September, apparently, is the month with the biggest amount of rain. We went with some caution, looking at the forecast with endless rain for a week. But everything turned out much better. The rain was mostly in the evening or at night. A couple-three first days were cloudy, but even this should not fool you — without sunscreen you can easily get burned even through such cloudiness. Maybe the season also affected the number of guests. But again only a plus: you go out to the beach, and the nearest neighbors are so far away that you can consider they don't exist at all.

Writing about the Maldives and not mentioning the nature and the wildlife that lives there is impossible: herons, flying foxes, crabs, hermit crabs, geckos, and lizards. And that's only on land. Swimming with a mask is highly recommended. You will meet sea turtles, manta rays, many reef fish of different colors and sizes, nurse sharks, and other wildlife. And all of this right by the shore.

In the end, the vacation was spent excellently in a very pleasant place. They say some tourists return there more than 10 times. I willingly believe it. The hotel is recommended, big thanks to Umi!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Cocoon for 5 nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and it was truly a memorable experience. ❤️

The island is incredibly beautiful, the food was amazing, and all the staff were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.

A special mention goes to our wonderful host, Migu. He was super friendly and made us feel so welcome. He gave us all the information we needed about the hotel and the island and was always there to help whenever we needed anything. His warm hospitality made our stay even more special.

We had such a fantastic time at Cocoon and would definitely love to come back — especially to see Migu again! 😊
