Bathala is a charming and lush tropical island surrounded by white powdery sand where guests can revel in the natural beauty of their surroundings and enjoy this laid-back retreat and the simple pleasures in life. Offering excellent value for money, the Bathala is a paradise for scuba divers and snorkelers alike with crystal clear waters and one of the best house reefs in the area.
The quaint white-washed villas are circular-shaped and dotted around the fringes of the sun-soaked island. All villas open out onto the stunning white sandy beach and turquoise sea. Each comes equipped with air-conditioning, a small fridge, semi-open air garden bathroom, hairdryer and sunbeds.
Bathala is an island in the Maldives, located in the north Ari Atoll eastern side, close to the outer atoll barrier. Its waters boast a remarkable richness and variety of fish species. The resort is only 15 minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport.
We had a five night stay here and sea plane /boat trip was amazing way to arrive . We had a beach villa on the sand by palm tree was a swing near the sea great photo shot . Lovely large room comfortable beds and outside bathroom shower was nice touch . We asked for a fridge which arrive quickly to keep water bottles cold and another outside chair as there were three of us .Nothing was too much trouble. A walk round island took 15 mins with 5 jetty’s to swim off or get boats from . Small shop selling clothes some cigarettes etc . Diving centre and shop to book trips . Drinks were very good as were the cocktails. Food was buffet style but wide choice from pasta ,pizza ,curries ,salads . ,fish etc . Snorkelling off house reef was easy and twice a day you could opt to join guide who took group out . Easy to see fish from beach or on jetty’s . We booked sunset cruise had boat to ourselves which we saw amazing sunset - snacks & sparkling wine included . Evening attainment was low key music ,quiz etc A relaxing holiday after Sri Lanka road trip . Staff were lovely Ali our waiter in restaurant and Pankaj the egg man at breakfast always smiling and chatting .
We LOVE Bathala! This is our third stay on the tiny paradise island, visiting also in the last 2 years.
Last year's review was titled "If I could give 6 stars then I would", however we don't quite feel that way this year, but its still gets a worthy 5 stars.
The island is small, the reef is amazing and each visit into the water showcases different spectacular species and we came away with many great photos and videos. The staff are friendly and its nice that with most of the guests being Italian theres also good English spoken.
We love the food, we love the accommodation, we love island....but...
Our Maldives adventures are also very much about excursions and trips out to see whale sharks, mantas, line fishing etc and Bathala has always provided a great offer and service to enable this. For this year though, things did not seem so well promoted and organised, not as well planned in advance, timeline for opportunities kept changing, felt like we had to push to get what we where asking for. I am not sure what was different but it felt different, just not quite so good as before. I feel its worth the Bathala management team looking at this.
Thay said, nothing will stop us coming back for another visit in the future and we hope to see many our Bathala friends again.
I cannot end the review without mentioning Lahpo our Maldivian friend who works in the watersports centre who we wish to thank for his 110% enthusiasm to meet our needs and for his most excellent snorkel tours around the reef and spotting so many whale sharks and mantas on our private trips out - thank you so much Lahpo and we hope to see you again! 😁🏝🌞
Sandies Bathala Maldives is a stunning island with crystal-clear waters, a spectacular house reef, and incredibly friendly staff. The food was delicious, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic Maldivian escape!
From start to finish …. the holiday and location of a lifetime! Taking away magical memories from this island 🏝️ gem . Thanks to all staff who made our stay so special.
I highly recommend going to Sandies. It's a place to disconnect from the world. Excellent food, beautiful coral reefs. It has a strong Italian influence, which I loved. Good value. It is a must to reach there by seaplane.
