Genuine 5* All Inclusive - Premium Options Available at a Cost

I first visited the Hilton Dalaman in 2010 and then returned again in 2012. I came back in June 2026 after a gap of around 14 years. A lot of time has passed, but at its core this remains a really fantastic five star all inclusive resort.

Overall, the service is very good and the resort itself is beautiful. On this visit I decided to stay in one of the first floor Lake House suites, complete with its own staircase leading directly down to a private terrace by the pool. The Lake House area is excellent including dedicated bars. If your budget allows, I would strongly recommend upgrading to this part of the resort. Between renting gazebos and having this terrace at a pool with easy access to drinks and snacks, we never once set up at the main complex pool area so made the experience a little more intimate.

I think it is worth setting expectations from the outset. This is a Hilton resort and, for anyone familiar with Hilton, there are always opportunities to enhance your holiday through additional experiences and upgrades. However, these all come at a cost. Whilst this is an all inclusive resort, unless you choose to book one of the higher room categories and pay for some of the additional experiences, your stay is likely to remain at the standard entry level.

That said, even at entry level this is still a genuine five star all inclusive resort that lives up to expectations. The grounds are immaculate and exceptionally well maintained. The pools are fantastic and I was pleasantly surprised to observe that there were usually sunbeds available around the main pool area. Food and drink offers are superb.

The main buffet restaurant is probably one of the best buffet restaurants I have experienced in any resort hotel. The variety on offer is excellent, there is an abundance of food available, the buffet is constantly replenished and everything I ate was of a consistently high standard.

One issue I did observe was guest behaviour around the buffet, particularly involving children. On more than one occasion I saw unsupervised children eating directly from the buffet, which is clearly unhygienic. When this was pointed out to staff they did not appear particularly able to intervene or deal with the situation so some training is needed in the absence of parents.

On our first visit to the main restaurant it would also have been helpful to receive a brief explanation of how everything worked. Staff simply ushered us through the entrance without any guidance. There is no table allocation, no taking guests to a table, and no introduction to the restaurant layout. Whilst I appreciate the resort has become significantly larger since my previous visits, some basic orientation would have been useful so this is an area that could improve.

Drink service in the main restaurant is good when you first arrive but thereafter it becomes much harder to attract attention. If you want additional drinks you are generally left trying to catch the attention of a waiter. Tables could also be cleared more quickly. None of this detracts from the quality of the food, but improvements to table service would enhance what is already a fantastic dining experience. As entry level all inclusive dining goes, this restaurant really is excellent and everything said is as applicable to breakfast as it is dinner. But without paying supplements this is the only included option for breakfast and dinner.

There are six à la carte restaurants available during the evening. These are charged at €40 per person per visit, with the Teppanyaki restaurant costing €56 per person. They are certainly not inexpensive, but they provide a much higher level dining experience than the main buffet restaurant. Unsurprisingly none of these restaurants were busy and you could always secure a table. Service is excellent, the atmosphere while elevated remains relaxed and they provide a welcome change if, like me, you are staying for an extended period. During my 11 night stay I visited all six restaurants.

Before I breakdown restaurants I would say this – order whatever you want from the menus. There is no restriction at all, so if you want it, order it. Staff were very accommodating and genuinely want you to have a great experience.

My favourite was Alize, the Italian restaurant. The food was outstanding, there was even some display waitering, and the overall service was exceptional. This was easily my top choice.

A La Turca, the Turkish restaurant, was another highlight. Being in Turkey, I had high expectations and it certainly delivered. The restaurant is outdoors and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend it.

Vela has changed since my previous visits. It was formerly the seafood restaurant but is now Mediterranean however fish remains a feature. It has a lovely Greek taverna feel and again the food and service were very good. The only downside is its location. Mosquitoes are unavoidable during the evening service. Staff do their best with smoke deterrents and insect spray is provided on every table, but I think getting bitten here is inevitable.

Tao, the Asian restaurant, was another restaurant I really enjoyed. Whilst not exclusively Chinese, it offers a broad Asian menu and the sushi presentation at the start of the meal was particularly impressive.

Tao Teppanyaki was also excellent. It provides the full Japanese Teppanyaki experience complete with the theatre and showmanship you would expect. There’s no menu here however so you get what you are given. It is slightly more expensive than the other restaurants at €56 per person but was always extremely popular.

The final restaurant is Finesse. When I first visited the resort in 2010 and 2012 this was the fine dining restaurant. It has now become an Indian restaurant. Personally I preferred the previous fine dining concept as it offered something different within the resort. As an Indian restaurant it did not quite meet my expectations. Coming from the UK, where we are fortunate to have excellent Indian cuisine available, I simply didn’t think it reached the same standard when it came to the taste of the food. I suspect this is more about ingredients than the ability of the chefs, but it was probably the only restaurant that I would choose not to revisit if I returned. Portions were also small compared to other restaurants. No issue with service I would add.

Breakfast is served in the main buffet restaurant and was consistently very good. Around the Lake House area there are bars positioned between the long pools where snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. Lunch is also well catered for across the resort, with numerous restaurants and bars offering different styles of food. There is certainly no shortage of choice.

The evening entertainment overall was excellent. I was genuinely impressed by the scale of the productions and by the number of performers involved. There are two entertainment venues which operate on different evenings rather than competing with each other. The outdoor amphitheatre has the larger stage, whilst Breeze Bar hosts entertainment in a more relaxed outdoor setting. Seating however at both was uncomfortable.

Whilst I accepted that there was no drink service in the amphitheatre, Breeze Bar exposed what I felt was one of the resort’s biggest weaknesses. Table service there was simply not good enough. Often there appeared to be only one or two waiters serving the entire venue. This resulted in guests having to queue at the bar, with ropes even being used to organise the queues.

The queues themselves were never particularly long, but this is not what I expect from a five star resort. Evening entertainment should be accompanied by regular table service and there simply were not enough staff working in this area. More waiters are needed.

It was also disappointing to observe some of the behaviour of the small number of waiters who were working. Tipping clearly influenced where their attention was directed, with those guests tipping generously receiving repeated service and reserved tables etc, whilst others were largely ignored. Everyone has paid for the same five star holiday experience and everyone should receive the same standard of service regardless of tipping. This just wasn’t good enough.

Another observation around the evening entertainment was the very visible presence of uniformed security staff. I completely understand the need to keep children away from the stage and maintain safety, but I felt their presence was rather heavy and perhaps more obvious than you would normally expect in a luxury resort. This needs to be toned down.

The only entertainment that really didn’t work for me was the White Party. I completely understand the concept, but I felt the execution lacked depth. It began with a singer performing a short set, which was enjoyable, but after that the entertainment became little more than young dancers moving around the venue whilst an MC and DJ kept the music going. It simply didn’t feel like a watchable production and, for me, is something that would benefit from a complete rethink. Patrons left this entertainment offer – it was obvious.

The resort gym is adequate and being 24 hour is also great. I am a regular gym user and had already hired a car because I expected to use a commercial gym nearby. In reality I found the hotel gym to be fine for the duration of my stay. I do think Hilton would benefit from including more photographs or videos of the gym on its website so guests know what to expect. But fellow guests – put your equipment away when done, it’s just respectful.

Adjacent to the gym is the spa. Whilst treatments are perhaps a little expensive Hilton Honour tiers attract discounts and I have to say the treatments were outstanding. I had several treatments with the same therapist, Tennur-Sijdi, including a deep tissue massage, sports massage and reflexology. Every treatment was excellent. She clearly knew exactly what she was doing and worked with the firm pressure that I personally prefer.

If I had one suggestion for improvement it would be to make the spa experience feel less rushed. It often felt like you moved quickly to treatment then straight back out again. The offer of time in a relaxation area, perhaps with refreshments available afterwards, would elevate the overall spa experience even further.

There are beach gazebos at the resort available for hire. €175 a day for up to 4 people, and €225 a day for up to 6 people including a jacuzzi. You are provided with drinks, snacks and lunch with service all day. A nice way to treat yourself to an additional experience though having used them mutiple times perhaps changing up or increasing the offer would have been good for some variety. By the way, bottles of ’Champagne’ (which are not Champagne) were always flat immediately after opening.

Due to the way my booking was advertised I had the honeymoon experience included. It’s a €600 add on and would include a hotel transfer to airport, sparkling wine on arrival, fruit, chocolates and sparking wine in the room, one restaurant, one gazebo, one breakfast in the room, and some photos from the resort photographer. I would say not to bother with this as I don’t personally think the finances of it stack up. We never got the sparkling wine on arrival, had a bottle of red wine in the room not sparkling, didn’t need the transfer, and breakfast to the room is now limited to a Turkish breakfast only so you can’t actually chose it. We also got no information about photos (and didn’t bother to chase either).

I was enrolled in the hotel WhatsApp service on arrival giving direct contact to Guest Services. I was told this was because I was a Hilton Honours Gold member, but I’m not sure if it is available more broadly than that. It was excellent. Always responsive, and always dealt with questions or issues. Anything raised got resolved very quickly. This was a great inclusion.

Overall, Hilton Dalaman remains one of the best all inclusive resorts I have visited. There are areas that deserve attention and improvement, particularly around evening beverage service and some aspects of guest experience, but these do not detract from what is a genuinely excellent resort. In August 2026 the golf course is set to open so I wonder if this might change the clientele over time – though anyone who can commit to a round of golf in that heat gets my respect!

I would happily return to this resort in the future.

Our favourite hotel in Turkey.

Our favourite hotel in Turkey, we return yearly. Staff are amazing. Great food and very chilled vibe. Amazing patisserie, the lady who works there is so sweet and her sister makes the best cakes. My sons love visiting. Waterpark is a perfect size, lifeguards always vigilante. Wait staff are fantastic throughout the resort.

Excellent value

Had a lovely week relaxing at this large all inclusive hotel. We are a couple in our mid 50s.

Ideal location - only 20 minutes from airport and 25 minute walk into the small town of Sarigerme. The hotel is on a large complex with lots of areas to spend your day and evening. It is clean and well kept.

We stayed in a standard garden room in the main hotel. Rooms are large and well equipped. Very comfortable bed! Large shower room with bath. Could not fault the room. Slippers and dressing gowns and a mini bar stocked daily with water, juices and beer. Coffee and tea provided too. Room was very clean.

Food and drink - all amazing! You do have to pay extra for à la carte but we found the buffet to suit our needs. We loved the coffee shop and the cocktail bar Rouge. Staff all fantastic too - shout out to Deniz at the main buffet restaurant- lovely attentive young man!

The entertainment was also fabulous in the evenings

If you have children then this is the resort for you - so much for them to do.

We have been to many all inclusives all over the world and I would rate this one as excellent value. Yes you may get more modern and newer all inclusives in Turkey but they come with a higher price tag if you stay in a hotel room over a lake house room.

Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Thank you Hilton and all your staff for an amazing week! Hope to see you again soon!
