Marcan Resort Hotel

If your idea of a holiday involves dodging rogue sunbed towel-reservers at 1:30 AM, waking up to a bathroom window that literally opens into the stranger's room next door, and eventually wading through an inch and a half of indoor floodwater, then this is the resort for you. For everyone else, look anywhere else. Our stay was a masterclass in mismanagement, bad infrastructure, and outright indifference from both the hotel staff and the booking provider (easyJet holidays, looking at you). The Room & Facilities

• The "View" and Noise: Aside from the room being small and basic, we had no balcony—just two chairs facing a brick wall right next to where the cleaning staff congregated to smoke all morning. We were also treated to a 5:30 AM wake-up call courtesy of a mosque speaker positioned agonizingly close to the window, followed by a room that smelled famously of drains.
• Acoustic Privacy: Day 2 brought the horrifying realization that one of the two shower cubicle windows actually opened directly into the next room's bathroom. We could hear our neighbors talking and doing everything else, requiring me to literally shout through the wall just to ask them to close it.
• The Flood: On Day 5, torrential rain hit. With no indoor communal space to escape to, we retreated to our windowless room—only to watch it flood from the ground and under the door, leaving us standing in an inch and a half of water. Suitcases, electronics, shoes, and belongings were completely soaked. It took three trips to reception and three messages (plus an easyJet rep texting back a useless "there's nothing I can do, go to the front desk") before someone showed up three hours later. They mopped it up with towels, and then a young man stood there, completely baffled as to why I might need clean bedsheets after taking our soaked ones away.
• Sunbed Wars: Towels on every lounger by 1:30 AM set the tone for the pool area.

Food & Beverage

• The Mystery Buffet: Breakfast and lunch consisted of a basic rotation of fresh fruit, bread, eggs, and unlabelled processed meats and cheeses. The toaster was broken due to an electrical fault, forcing long queues for a single, heavy, red-hot panini toaster with zero tongs provided. Finding cutlery meant wandering around the restaurant searching for knives and forks.
• Hostile Dining Service: Asking the restaurant staff a simple question was met with a blank stare as they walked away, visibly agitated and annoyed with guests.
• Subpar Snacks & Ice Cream Police: The snack bar served bulk-fried food (chips, tiny rock-hard burgers, nuggets, onion rings) left sitting out in the open for three hours. Meanwhile, the ice cream fridge was heavily policed and only open for one hour; I was turned away at 12 minutes to three, and later handed a random lolly rather than being permitted to pick one.
• Bar Limitations: The drink selection was poor. The food and beverage manager apparently didn't like making Piña Coladas, so you were restricted to "Sex on the Beach" and "Blue Lagoon" served in cheap plastic beakers. The soft drink machine constantly ran out, and bottled water wasn't even available to order.

Customer Service

• Reception Dismissal: When we requested a room change on Day 1, we were just added to a list of about 10 other guests experiencing the exact same thing. By Day 2, we were told to come back on Day 3—at which point we gave up because it was too late. Speaking to other guests revealed a universal consensus: nobody was happy with the hotel, food, or service.
• A Few Bright Spots: Special mention must go to Akif, his friend who was new and Leon all at the bar, and Yakup from the Spa, who went entirely out of their way to be genuinely friendly and helpful amidst the chaos.

When front-desk requests go ignored, rooms flood, privacy is non-existent, and staff treat you with open hostility, a hotel fails in every department. Luckily, we are a group of friends who always make the most of life, so we still managed to have a great week regardless—though that was entirely down to our own attitude and no thanks to the resort!

We would never stay here again and strongly advise others to book elsewhere.

Lovely hotel . The location is ideal, at the top of the strip but not to close, the taxi rank is a few metres away . The rooms are big and the air con is efficient . The only downside to the room was it needs brighter lighting in the bathroom. The food is predominantly Turkish which you would expect when visiting an other country , although you can always find something tasty. The pool area has ample loungers and umbrellas. Unfortunately the pool walls were in need of a good scrub as lots of green . The pool bar could maybe do with a few extra items such as local liquors if possible. Maybe more tables and chairs for the evening entertainment. All the staff are so friendly and smiling all the time. I big thank you to the lady that cleaned our room 2032 , fresh flowers on the dressing table and one day towels modelled like swans and petals on the bed. Good value for money
