Marmaris

Featuring brightly decorated and modern rooms, this hotel enjoys a great location close to the beach and a short walk from the centre of Marmaris and its' many shopping opportunities and popular nightlife. In the vicinity of the hotel there are also many shops, cafe bars and restaurants as well as a long beachfront promenade. Ideal for couples and families due to its' central location, guests can benefit from the hotel's popular pub-style bar for an evening's entertainment and enjoy the on-site pool for a cooling swim and lazy days relaxing on a sunbed. Public transport stops close to the hotel enabling guests easy access for exploring the local area such as the nearby resort of Icmeler, approximately 15 minutes' away on the local mini-bus.

A great little hotel

First time in Marmaris and we wanted a 4 star hotel at the very least. This hotel is small but in my opinion, perfectly formed. The hotel is on the main road and you could easily walk past the entrance as it is very discreet. It can be a noisy street but I honestly was not bothered by it at all - to be expected in a holiday resort. The reception area was clean and tidy with lovely chairs and sofas for guests to relax on. There is a small bar but it was not open any of the days we were there, but you could buy drinks from the restaurant and take them to the lobby to drink [or stay in the restaurant or front terrace and drink them]. We were in room 303 and an elderly family member who travelled with us was in 507. Rooms were clean on arrival - probably could be doing with a refresh but most hotel rooms would be the same. Free safety deposit box and there is a fridge too which is really handy. Wardrobe with some hangers but no drawer space - does not bother me as I keep non hanging things in my suitcase when on holiday. Due to the location of the hotel in a built up area, you will struggle to get a room with a view but of our two rooms, 507 had the better view as it overlooked the pool and you could catch sight of the sea. Room 303 looked onto the neighbouring hotel's pool and some rooftops. The cleaners were around every day although every second day we always put on the do not disturb and just made up the beds ourselves and re-used towels - we don't have a maid at home so don't expect to need my bed being made up every day whilst on holiday. During our stay, we could not figure out the air con and asked at reception and within minutes they had sent someone up to show us how to work it. Also, one day the wooden door surround fell off in our room as the door banged shut - again reception had someone come by within 15 mins to silicone this back on. The pool area is small and we feared the usual battle for sunbeds but we need not have worried as we got a bed every day even later in the morning where normally you would expect them all to be taken. The pool are was kept clean and tidy. The hotel had a hoist for guests with mobility issues to get them into the pool which was a nice touch. Poolside bar open daily and the lady who worked in there was kept busy but she was lovely and the bar offered a good selection of food and drinks. The hotel has its own little area of the beach - go out gate at poolside turn left then first right and the beach is at the bottom of the road. We are not beach lovers so did not take advantage of this but we went down for a look. You can pay a £10 deposit [refundable when returning card] for a towel card and then use towels from the spa to take to the pool and the beach - saves you having to bring towels from home. We stayed half board so had breakfast and dinner. The food situation at this hotel is different to what I have experienced elsewhere as there is a restaurant but this is used by guests and the public as it has an entry off the main road as well as an entrance from the hotel lobby. For half board customers, breakfast there were only 3 menu options and a small table with some cheese, cereal and salad items as well as fruit juices, tea, coffee etc. I ate the traditional breakfast every day and it was lovely. For dinner, again there was a four course selection but this did not change daily - you had a choice of soups, salad and then a main course and desert - water was free but any other drinks had to be paid for. Again the food at dinner was lovely and well cooked. The hotel has a spa, indoor pool and gym - never used the pool or the gym but we did use the spa and had the all inclusive package for £50 per person [all three of us had a massage]. This was incredible value for money as you would not get a sauna, hamam bath and scrub, a full body massage and face clay mask for anywhere near that price in the UK. The ladies who gave us the treatments are all incredible and they were very accommodating with my elderly mother who has mobility issues. Our pick up for airport was not until 6.20pm but even after we checked out, we were still able to use the facilities and have a shower down in the gym area which we appreciated. We did ask for a late check out but our rooms were both due to be occupied later that day - my own fault as I should have asked that at start of holiday and not on the last day. Not sure if I will return to Marmaris as the constant attention from shopkeepers and bar and restaurant owners is a bit annoying, but if I did return then I would definitely stay here again.

Nice from far, far from nice!

The hotel is nice from far however once you look closer you realise it's in need of a renovation and upgrade of all the facilities. The shower feels like a torture chamber, with the water being either way too hot or way too cold. The location is surrounded by hotels and bars with extremely loud much and people singing karaoke, very badly. I understand that it's not the hotel's fault but they really need to do better at soundproofing!! Didn't get even one good night's sleep. The staff aren't very helpful either. Some lady was going around telling them off, and it was awkward. Like have a private meeting, don't do that in front of guests! The only reason I am giving Motto two stars is because of the food in the restaurant! Very delicious and high quality produce.

Motto - really premium?😤

My vacation at Motto Hotel has come to an end. I rarely write reviews, but this time I really felt I had to. Hotel – Beautiful interior and modern rooms. Service – The staff are polite and do their best, but the head restaurant manager is impossible to watch. He always looks unhappy and constantly shouts at the staff. Beach – The hotel has its own beach, but there are only about 15 sunbeds. You have to reserve one early in the morning because later they are occupied by guests from other hotels, while Motto guests are left without a place to relax. The staff do not seem to care. Sea – The views are absolutely stunning, and the water is very clean, but it is quite cold. Food – Simply terrible. Please note that the hotel operates on an à la carte concept, not all-inclusive. You order from a menu that never changes. The food is not tasty. Breakfast is exactly the same every day for seven days. For lunch and dinner, there are a few more options, but they are not good either. The only dish I really enjoyed was the grilled fish. Housekeeping – During our 7-day stay, the floor was not cleaned even once. Housekeeping was terrible, and everything remained dirty. We reported it to the reception, but no one responded. Overall, I have traveled to many countries and stayed in many hotels, but I have never experienced such a disappointing hotel—not even in Egypt. 🫣 I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for a vacation. At best, it is suitable for a one-night stay. I honestly wonder who writes all those positive reviews that convinced me to book this hotel.

Amazing hotel

I was at this hotel for 10 days. I’ve stayed here numerous times over the last few years as the customer service is so good. Nothing is too much trouble for them, especially Mustafa and Ahmet. They have always gone out of their way to offer an excellent service. Regarding the restaurant, there’s been a huge improvement here since last year under new management. The deputy manager Baron, was very helpful throughout my stay, especially as I am on a gluten free diet. He checked on me daily to ensure that there was a suitable meal for me each day & it was really appreciated by me. I felt totally looked after by everyone and it’s the reason why I keep going back to the Motto! Perfect location, amazing service, a 15% discount in the restaurant as well as a 2 minute walk to the beach!!
