Orka Lotus Beach

Our stay at Orka Lotus Beach was very disappointing. We paid extra for a sea view room, but upon arrival we were not given the room we had booked. After several complaints and a lot of insistence, we finally received the correct room on the second day. The hotel’s cleanliness was far below the standard expected from a 5-star resort. We saw cockroaches in several areas of the hotel, and the restaurant terrace was often dirty and poorly maintained. The food selection was limited, and most dishes were extremely spicy. There were long queues at every meal, making the dining experience frustrating. The drinks were of poor quality, and the coffee was awful—weak, tasteless, and definitely not what you would expect from a hotel of this category. The restaurant staff often ignored guests unless they were given tips, which made the service feel unfair and unprofessional. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its beautiful location and stunning surroundings. Unfortunately, the location cannot make up for the poor cleanliness, low-quality food and drinks, and disappointing service. We do not recommend this hotel and will definitely not return.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after spending 10 nights at Orka Lotus Beach Resort, I feel people deserve to know what our experience was really like.

The food was one of the biggest disappointments. It was repetitive, bland and lacked variety. We actually ended up eating outside of the hotel on several evenings because we simply couldn’t face another dinner there. The buffet was also unbelievably busy, with people constantly pushing in and queues everywhere, making meal times stressful rather than enjoyable.

The sunbed situation was equally frustrating. To have any chance of getting a decent sunbed, we had to set an alarm for 6:00am every morning to reserve one. I hate having to do that on holiday, but it was the only option. Many of the sunbeds were broken and extremely uncomfortable. I saw several people sit down only for the beds to collapse underneath them. The music around the pool started at 10:30am every day and was unbelievably loud. It was so loud that I could barely hear my partner when we were trying to have a conversation. It completely ruined any chance of having a relaxing day by the pool.

Our room was another huge issue. We were placed right next to the Icon Beach Club. We had no balcony or terrace, just a patio door with a single plastic chair outside, which opened onto a walkway regularly used by staff. Staff members would stand directly outside our room talking loudly, shouting to each other across the walkway and watching videos on their phones at full volume. It felt highly inappropriate when guests were clearly trying to sit outside and enjoy some peace and quiet after a busy day.

The worst part was the noise from the beach club. Music continued until the early hours of the morning and was so loud that our room actually vibrated. We complained to reception four separate times. Every time we were told there were no rooms available and to come back the following day, only to be told exactly the same thing again. It was a complete waste of our time, and we were left to put up with broken sleep for the entire 10-night holiday. That is simply not what you expect after paying a significant amount of money for what is advertised as a five-star hotel.

Housekeeping was also below standard. It often felt like they simply changed the towels and did very little else. One afternoon we returned to our room at around 4pm to find our duvet had completely disappeared. I called reception to ask if someone could bring us another duvet, but the phone was put down on me because the receptionist couldn’t speak English. I called back immediately, asked if someone would be bringing one, and the only response I got was “housekeeping” before the phone was put down again. We went out for dinner assuming it would be sorted. Instead, we were woken at around 11pm by a member of staff knocking on our door, only to tell us housekeeping would come in the morning. I have no idea why anyone thought it was appropriate to wake guests at that time, especially when they hadn’t even brought the duvet we needed.

The list honestly goes on. Before travelling, I posted in an Orka Lotus Facebook group saying I was worried after reading some of the negative reviews. Over 50 people replied saying the hotel was fantastic, which left me so excited for our holiday. Sadly, the reality couldn’t have been more different. We left feeling nothing but disappointment and frustration. We spent a lot of money on what was supposed to be our only holiday of the year, and instead it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had.

In my opinion, this hotel is nowhere near five-star standard. I would struggle to rate it above three stars. It’s our last day tomorrow and I look forward to leaving this hotel.

I’m sure, like many other negative reviews, this will receive the standard response apologising for our experience and wishing us well on our future travels. Unfortunately, a generic reply doesn’t make up for the amount of money we spent or the holiday we feel was completely ruined.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel!!!! The best part was definitely the animation team🥹 they were amazing, super fun, energetic, and always made every day exciting. The atmosphere here is incredible, with great vibes and lots of positive energy. The saddest part was having to leave because we had such a great time😭😭😭😭We made so many awesome memories and wish we could stay longer. Huge thanks to the whole team for making our vacation so special. We can’t wait to come back🙏 (Nika/Lera💔💔💔💔)
