Montana Pine Resort

I don’t like to leave negative reviews but I feel I have no choice in this instance. Location - The resort is quite high up in the mountains so expect quite a temperature drop compared to other resorts/hotels nearer to Oludinez. Atmosphere - very little going on, no ‘vibe’ as such, dining room felt like a rushed cafeteria with very little choice and there seem to be very little interaction from staff overall. Rooms - our standard room was a nice size but quite dated. The balcony was so small two of us couldn’t sit out on it comfortably and there was a massive tree virtually touching it so not much of a view (we did see a couple of nice birds in it which was a plus!). The drains in the bathroom were very smelly. The beds were very comfortable though I have to say. Food - this was the worst bit as after two days of trying to find something edible on the buffet for breakfast, Lunch and dinner, we ended up eating out for dinner for the rest of the holiday (a 9 day holiday so the all inclusive deal was wasted on us). The soup was ok for lunch and we had a couple of bits of toast for breakfast and sometimes we found a decent egg to eat. Be prepared to queue up for the one toaster in the morning and be prepared to have to wait for a seat for dinner as the two evenings we did eat in the cafeteria (aka restaurant) we had to sit with people we didn’t know and that was after a good search for a seat. The food was poor, luke warm and there was not much choice at all. Amenities - We experienced 4 days of rain when we were there and thought we’d sit around the covered bar area one evening as we wanted to utilise the all inclusive drinks and have a game of cards, but unfortunately there was not enough seating. We went indoors instead and found a tiny little table, and our drinks (a beer and their baileys equivalent) were served in plastic pool cups. Not what I’d expect from a 4 star hotel in the evening. The Pool(s) - they were so cold we couldn’t use them. However, down the mountain in oludinez, it was a baking 27 degrees and the sea was warm. Not the hotels fault I know, but just to highlight the difference in climate. Maybe they could heat them though if they are not useable otherwise at the end of September/early October? Entertainment - nothing during the day and a few things on at night. However we only saw the karaoke night as spent most of our time elsewhere, so there may have been some good things on. Customer service - Our transfer was picking us up at 1pm on the day we were leaving for the airport and we were told by the rep that it’s so quiet at the hotel there’d be no problem holding onto the room until we needed to leave. When we spoke to the guy on reception, he bluntly said no, you have to get out by 12.
We won’t be using this resort again, found much nicer places down near the beach which were actually cheaper.

Let’s start with the positives, the location has amazing views and relatively well-manicured gardens with three good-sized pools. The potential of this hotel is very high but unfortunately it does not live up to its potential. It is no way a 4-star hotel but could so easily be 4 or 5.

Accommodation room 2323, the room is a good size with a little terrace area looking over the Dolphin pool. The room and the furniture are very tired and in need of an update to be a 4 star. The showhead did not function and the water was just about warm every night we showered and never hot.

Food, and the dining area, firstly again the furniture was very tired with a mixture of wooden and plastic chairs. The food itself was average, and again often just warm and if you left your dining to towards the end of the dining period, often food had run out. Personally when I visit a country I want to try that countries cuisine, not pasta and chips. It was obvious the chef had a limited budget and had to use leftovers for the following sitting. The staff were less than engaging never saying morning, afternoon or evening and not much of a smile. As they say a smile costs nothing?? I am sure there tip box would not have exactly been overflowing. Which brings me to another observation, tip boxes everywhere, this is a fully inclusive resort and if I want to tip then I will.

Bar Area and drinks, The resort had several bars, however not many were open or open for limited time. For an example, the Dolphin bar opened at 1 and closed at 5. Most of the time there was a person behind the bar, either on there phone and on occasions on there phone with the speaker on talking. No pool service was offered, glasses not collected. If you are saying you are a 4 star resort then offer the services offered with that star rating. Don’t expect the clients to do your job for you. Lets move onto the main bar which was often undermanned and on one occasion they ran out of glasses. There were a couple of bar staff who worked hard and engaged, but there were also a couple who would rather dodge serving you.

As I said at the beginning of this review, the hotel has a massive potential and probably sometime ago lived up to it’s potential. Most of the clients I spoke to who had been here before and all said it was not as good as previous visits.

Great hotel! Very good service, beautiful views, delicious food and drinks, the room is perfect. Me and my wife spent our honeymoon here and we were so glad with the hotel that we came back a few weeks later. I would like to say personal thanks to Ali, Mustafa at the reception and Can as a manager. They are very supportive and provided us with very kind and flexible service
