it is amazing yet so peaceful the food is wonderful and the staff are great the whole experience provides such an amazing vibe
Beautiful property, shockingly poor service and management Not an 5 star experience. Unfortunately, this was the worst luxury hotel experience I have had, and certainly the worst I have experienced at a Marriott property. The resort itself is beautiful, which makes the level of service even more disappointing.
This was not about one mistake. Over the course of our stay, we experienced a remarkable series of issues:
The final checkout experience summed up the entire stay.
As part of the service recovery, I had been told by a hotel representative on Thursday that a lunch would be complimentary. On Friday morning at 11:21 a.m., I proactively contacted the hotel to make sure it had been removed from our bill. I followed up repeatedly and specifically told them at 12:05 p.m. that we were leaving for the airport at 2 p.m. and wanted the issue resolved beforehand so we could have a quick checkout.
Instead, they told me they would address it at reception. I asked again at 1:07 p.m. and, after still receiving no confirmation, pointed out that this was my third request.
At checkout, it STILL had not been resolved.
We then had to spend our departure re-explaining issues that had already been discussed with management and extensively documented through the hotel’s WhatsApp. Management’s explanation regarding the complimentary lunch was that the employee who promised it had not been authorized to do so and that there “must have been a miscommunication.”
That is an internal hotel problem, not something that should become the guest’s problem while trying to leave for the airport—particularly after I had spent hours proactively asking them to resolve it.
Mistakes happen, and I am generally very understanding when a hotel makes one. What was unacceptable here was the pattern: something would go wrong, we would report it, management would attempt to recover the situation, and then the recovery itself would create another problem. Even at checkout, we seemed to be starting from scratch despite having documented everything throughout the stay.
I have stayed at St. Regis, JW Marriott and numerous other Marriott properties internationally, as well as plenty of non-luxury Marriott hotels. I have never experienced anything comparable.
The physical property and location are lovely, and there were individual employees who were courteous and tried to help. Unfortunately, the overall operation and management of our stay fell dramatically below what I would expect from a Luxury Collection property.
For anyone considering Caresse, I strongly recommend reading recent service reviews carefully. A beautiful resort is not enough at this price point when basic execution and service recovery repeatedly fail.
Hotel is really nice. Thanks for providing absolutely amazing room with best view. Staff is professional, friendly, taking care of guests. Loyalty to Marriott bonvoy members is really high, you will feel it. It’s very well maintained hotel, cleanliness is amazing, housekeeping team is great, breakfast was fantastic. In room dining was perfect.
What I didn’t like:
Family with lots of kids were staying next to me and it was always noisy (kids were screaming, jumping into the pool). It’s not hotel’s issue but they should try to provide rooms with distance between families with small kids and guests who are adults only.
Staff at Buddha bar were not too attentive. When I came no one met me, main course was first served instead of being the last dish. The food was great and delicious. Philadelphia roll was best of the best.
The menu was not offered during the breakfast. I had to ask for the menu.
Overall it was nicest experience. Thanks to the team a lot for everything!
Beautiful location with stunning views. We spent five nights here and loved it. Our room, 519, was on the lobby level which made it convenient to everything and it was very quiet. The bed and amenities were top notch as was the service. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The lounge beds on the deck near the beach were comfortable although I would have preferred umbrellas that blocked the sun rather than just providing light cover. I guess most people like to bask but it was super hot this time of year. One of the water activities is a car boat rental, which was fun. We also made use of the gym which was well equipped and even had a Pilates reformer. The staff regularly provided water to the room which was greatly appreciated. We tried four restaurants here and all were very good but expensive. A glass of wine was $25 at Barbarossa which might be fine for Russian oligarchs, but is a lot to us. The breakfast is included and was outstanding whether ordering from the menu or just going to the buffet. We took taxis into town most nights which is a mere $12 for a 20-25 minute ride. There are a lot of taxi stands down there and they are metered. At the hotel you need to ask the staff to call a taxi for you. The location is a bit out of town but the transport is so easy I wouldn’t let that be a deterrent to staying here. I was concerned after reading some bad reviews about this hotel, but our experience was perfect. Great air conditioning, friendly service and no noise from the disco. We highly recommend this hotel.
Unbelievable experience. Service was best Iv ever had thanks to waiter Selman. Recommended me great drinks and gave me great conversation and vibes throughout. Will 100% be returning because of him
