Selene Beach And Spa Hotel

First thing I’d mention is the transfer time from the airport, if you are lucky enough to get a minibus it can be done just under 2 hours, I spoke to others on buses took over 3 hours!

The hotel is mostly good, definitely not a 5☆ hotel though if you compare to European countries hotels, more 3+☆ some broken chairs still in use in the restaurant and bars, sunbed towels ripped and worn. The sunbeds are crammed together both around the pool and at the beach, which is really uncomfortable if someone is a heavy smoker right next to you or constantly playing videos or music on their phones. Although adult only hotel the beach is shared with neighbouring hotels and kids are running around there. The grounds are a lot more compact than the pictures suggest.

Rooms – comfortable and clean, air con works really well. I’d definitely recommend the sea view upgrade. The cleaners were fantastic and kept our room replenished with fresh towels. No complaints in this area whatsoever! 👌

The drinks – on the whole excellent although not always consistent, they offer a wide choice of cocktails but they always tasted differently depending on which bar or staff member made them! And for sone reason they don't all serve the dame selection? They had their own brand of baileys when we first arrived which was half decent, then they suddenly changed brand which tasted like banana 🍌....it was awful! The spirits and larger were branded and were excellent. Staff need to be taught the same way for consistency.

The food – Rather disappointing truth be said, I’ve yet to get a meal that was served above just tepid warm, but mostly just cold. On a positive note the salad selection! its fantastic and served at the correct temperature! The repetitiveness of chicken and turkey served in different formats every day becomes tiredsome after 4 or 5 days. This was served EVERY DAY!!! I’m longing to have a piece of beef steak or lamb! Or maybe a curry or something spicy! This is not reflective of a 5☆ hotel where I've stayed previously. They had a tray of lasagna one evening. I was so excited to have it, found a table went back it was empty, asked staff if they were bringing more out, no! Other guests were also waiting for more to come out and wanting something different but were left disappointed 😞

Entertainment- its just ok, the beach party is good. The dance acts are decent. Karaoke is what it is, especially bad when sung badly in a foreign language. The hotel is mostly geared up for eastern European guests I would say, I hardly heard any English music played around the pool at daytime.

The staff are absolutely amazing on the whole, a shame a couple let the hotel down. The barman in the beach bar in the evenings was miserable, had little idea or enthusiasm to make drinks, didn’t use the cocktail shaker but just poured the ingredients into a glass and stirred! Awful! Another younger woman working in the lunchtime burger hut in the absence of the older lady one day served me a burger which was still frozen in the middle, took it back and when she eventually lifted her head out of her mobile phone to acknowledge me I got a “Oh” in reply, I said she could make people ill serving food like that but she was totally uninterested, no apology or concern shown.

Overall this is an average hotel which could do a lot better! Would i return? Probably not 👎

This was easily the worst hotel experience I have ever had. From the moment we arrived, it was crystal clear: the only thing that matters to the staff here is getting tips. Nothing else seems to count — not the fact that you've already paid for your holiday, not basic courtesy, and certainly not looking after their guests.

The staff are incredibly rude if you don't hand over extra cash. It feels like you have to please them, rather than them being there to help you. If you don't tip, the attitude changes instantly — cold, dismissive, and openly unpleasant. It is humiliating and completely unacceptable.

Housekeeping is a joke without tips. Our room was never cleaned properly unless we left money out. Towels stayed damp, surfaces were dusty, and things were missed day after day. Basic cleaning only happened when there was an incentive. That is not what I expect from a hotel.

By the pool, it's even worse. The staff there were appalling — extremely rude, obnoxious, and made us feel unwelcome purely because we weren't tipping them constantly. We've never been spoken to so poorly by people we're paying to be there.

Management simply doesn't exist. There is zero connection between the people running this place and the guests. Nobody cares. Nobody wants to know. If you have a complaint, you're ignored. They are happy to take your booking payment, but beyond that, you're on your own.

The food was mediocre at best — bland, repetitive, and nothing special at all. You end up feeling like you're being nickel-and-dimed at every turn, just to get basic things done.

I left feeling relieved to be going home. You should not have to pay twice — once for your holiday and once just to be treated with basic respect. I will never return and I strongly advise you to stay far away from this place.
