Seaden
Just come back from 8 nights at Seaden Quality Resort & Spa, after changing our Tenerife holiday last minute, based on trip advisor reviews, plus watching numerous YouTube videos on the Seaden resort.
I am writing this review to make potential UK guests very aware of what’s ahead of them, should they choose to book here.
We booked through Jet2, and I’ve got to say that Jet2 need to take a very long hard look at themselves and be alot more transparent than they are about how this hotel is very German orientated, with as high as 98% being German.
For us, this hotel should not even be on Jet2’s choice list as EVERYTHING at the hotel is German 1st, so they should at least tell UK guests this as it will definitely affect your holiday in one way or another.
First and foremost, this isn’t a 5 Star hotel, but a 4 star, and the reasons below are why we feel this way.
1 - Family room - We booked a family room on level 2, and I actually emailed the hotel to ask for a quiet area before travelling after reading other reviews on here. However, it became quickly apparent that this wasn’t the case, as they put us above the lobby bar area, meaning that from around 6am onwards we could hear chairs being dragged around by the cleaners from the previous night. We could also clearly hear guests in both next door rooms talking (in German obviously) and their TV being on. This obviously wasn’t their fault, but shows how thin the walls are, which many on here have alluded too already. These 2 factors meant our sleep was interrupted every night through noise, which isn’t what you should have to put up with in a true 5 star hotel as the rooms.
2 - Food - although the food is plentiful, I wouldn’t say the quality is high quality, with the breakfasts having no UK orientated options, certainly no bacon, sausages or hash browns like most other resorts we’ve been too. Yes, plenty of fruit , but lots of cold meats, salads and food that are catered for Germans and other European guests.
For main meals, the meats, including steaks were not very good quality, and often over cooked as chewy, with the lamb also having little meat on. Again, very continental and German oriented options for both breakfast and evening meals.
We did book the International restaurant one night, which was painful experience and a waste of time, as the food was a cold as the welcome from the manager there. He did make sure the German guests were happy though, as he joked and giggled with them, whilst treating us with sheer distain, often speaking under his breath whilst serving us. He was a disgrace and shouldn’t even work in hospitality.
3 - Pool & sea area - beware, you’ve got to get up early to get a sun bed, and this shouldn’t happen at a 5 star hotel, as there aren’t enough beds for the amount of guests that are there. There is only one pool, so again, is that truly a 5 star hotel? Yes, you can go to the beach, but the water is murky due to speed boat next to the beds area, which means you can’t see the jagged rocks and fall over, so we only went once.
4 - Staff - although we did meet and engage with some very helpful and decent employees, most customer facing employees are quite cold, and it is VERY apparent that they prefer German guests as they will ignore you, and then speak to you in German as many have limited English. The swim up bar attracts groups of Germans, so the bar staff there cater for them before anyone else. It often felt like they were doing us a favour by serving us.
Tips - It seems pretty clear that German guests tip the staff quite regularly from the moment they arrive, and that is the staff culture now, hence the German guests receiving a better service. Again, this should never be the case with hospitality in a 5 star hotel. We did tip when we felt like we received a good service, but not for the sake of getting their attention, but as I say, this is now the expectation of most of the customer facing staff. There was a couple of bar men in the lobby bar and restaurant that were very pleasant, even pro English, but it should NOT be this way!
Football on TV - Man City were playing Crystal Palace on the Friday night we were there, the same time Bayern were on, so guess which match both TV’s had on in the lobby bar…. Yep!
See above about the manager in the International restaurant, a disgrace
5 - WIFI - absolutely shocking, both in the room and around the pool area. Not even a 2 star service as dropped off from the bedroom to the toilet.
6 - Entertainment team - in the day, it is massively German oriented, including language spoken and the terrible banging music they play (like apres ski resort in Austria), and I love all types of music, including dance and trance, so I’m by no mean a prude. The night time entertainment was better, but again German first in everything….
7 - Lifts - although there are 6 lifts, they’re all in one place which became so annoying as you’d end up going up and down to floors you’d hadn’t requested. We ended up using the stairs, which aren’t clearly sign posted (more like a tradesman’s entrance), as we were only floor 2, but ground floor to the lobby area on floor 3 was annoying.
So there’s our review, absolutely gutted that we switched our holiday and Jet2 don’t make you aware of this hotel being so German. This SHOULD not be the case in 2026!
Excellent hotel service!
The whole entertainment team and staff at buffet were all incredibly friendly and speedy. The second we sat down a waiter immediately served us with drinks, even when its extremely busy they are still kind and serve us within an instant!! The volleyball by the pool is very famous and incredibly fun, I saw many people enjoying it every day and it’s a great asset for entertainment.
One thing I could suggest for the entertainment would be for the pool party night. Many people didn’t actually realise that you could go in the pool. We thought it was just a synchronised swimming show however you are actually allowed to go in the pool so maybe make people aware, then they can be ready.
Sadly the noise level could be a issue for a small majority, I enjoy the entertainment shows in the night however i believe the music is too loud. Another thing is the room walls are quite thin so you can hear what’s going on in the other room and the doors slam if you don’t close them properly which echoes to all the rooms.
The location is excellent right in front of a beach and gorgeous views, also they have local shops that personally are way better than the main shops in Side, we spoke to some of the staff about how our experience is way better with the local shops because they aren’t as pushy and aren’t as angry some of the other workers in the main shops of Side which is good because you don’t need to travel much as you have everything surrounding the hotel.
Rooms are nicely cleaned every day and we came back with beautiful towel art.
I do believe this hotel is worth five stars and the food is definitely one of the best all inclusive meals I’ve ever had. Everything was seasoned perfectly and there was a wide variety of food (try the tres leches, you’ll thank me later) . When the buffet is closed there is still lots of food to offer and even have snack cupboards in the rooms. Overall, the atmosphere is great and we really enjoyed our stay.
Very, very good hotel! I will write below my few negative points, if they would improve this the hotel would be one of the best in hotels in this price range. I'm sorry for the negatives but it's only because I want this hotel and staff to succeed and be the very best! :)
Negative:
Ofcourse there are so many positive things:
For reference: we had the family suite with double bathrooms and stayed for 11 days.
Thank you very much for this lovely holiday and we will be coming back.
10-10 very good hotel and staff are great
What a wonderful hotel! I have read a few negative reviews based on travellers views however our holiday really was great. Check in: We arrived very late due to a delayed flight but check in was quick and our luggage taken to our room promptly.
Room: We upgraded our room when booking, to a sea view room, we had room 7129 and this was a quiet room at night with barely any noise from neighbouring hotels. We had no issue with noisy neighbours or ‘paper thin walls’ and had a family with children to one side of us. The room was spacious and cleaned daily, good sized balcony and the sofa bed for our daughter worked well with an additional mattress topper for comfort. There is a pillow menu if desired to choose a specific firmness of pillow!
Location: A great location although if using transfers through the travel agent, it’s a good 1.5 hours! The hotel is in walking distance to the shops for your bargains and a ten minute taxi journey to Old Town Side (a worthwhile trip for seeing the sites/having a meal/boat trip/shopping).
Beach: Lovely beach but very rocky walking into the sea - take some sea shoes and it’s no issue. The sea is lovely and warm and plenty of water sports if you want to have some extra fun.
Food/Drink: Al a Cart restaurants are great and had no issue booking - buffets have huge variety and we always found something to eat including our fussy 8 year old - she loved the crepes at breakfast! Snack bar also available with extensive menu for beside the pool. Huge selection of drinks, cocktails and soft drinks. Premium branded alcohol is available at no extra cost. Fabulous!! Ice creams available at the pool bar and also a patisserie for cakes, ice creams and coffee.
Pool: brilliant space, as long as you don’t leave your loungers before 8:30am your towels are safe otherwise, towels are removed which is fair enough! Huge pool with entertainment from the team. (My only minor issue with the entertainment was the music - often unnecessarily loud and the choice of music not always suitable for little ears!)
Evening Entertainment: great entertainment - mini disco at 20:30 and then evening entertainment followed, always offering variety. Our favourite was the Avatar pool party - brilliant night for all!
Staff: All staff were very friendly throughout the hotel and nothing was ever too much, always said hello and all were great - language barrier a little tricky but we got by!
Would we return? Absolutely yes!
Recommendation from us: A separate smoking area away from the pool - whilst I understand some would disagree and this is likely an unpopular opinion, as a non smoking family, having cigarette smoke blown in your face/child’s face from someone who hasn’t a care in the world who they’re blowing it at whilst on your lounger is not pleasant and some consideration could be taken for this.
Thank you Seaden Quality for a wonderful stay! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
