- Calimera Hane Garden Hotel

This modern, family-friendly holiday hotel offers an outdoor pool with slides, various sports facilities and fitness amenities. In addition, there is a football center. The wide sandy beach can be reached in less than 5 minutes, the shops and restaurants of Kumköy are within a short walk. The historic town of Side with its ancient sites such as the spectacular Temple of Apollo is just a short drive away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a great holiday. I travelled with my two daughters during the Easter holidays. The hotel is in Side, next to shops, beauty and tattoo businesses. The location is very, good, a great drive from the airport and next to the beach. Obviously the weather was very pleasant in April and much needed after the constant poor weather of England. Location for trips and sight-seeing is perfect, although we stayed by the pool this time. If you want wild nightlife, this is catered for by the animation team, with nearby tours to nightclubs and event halls. This is not really to a 5 * standard, nearer a 4*, but it is also very nice and there are no reasons to complain. We travelled out of season, and the amphitheatre was closed, but the animation team worked hard and all staff were pleasant and hard-working. A massive shout out to the ladies making freshTurkish pitta, this was AMAZING! Rooms were immaculate, with excellent cleaning, and there was plenty of water in our room every day. The pool area was fantastic, the children loved the slides and even in April the pool was a good temperature. I recommend the Spa, I went three times and at the end of the week, my locked shoulder was recovered. Deanne was fantastic! The food here was typically All inclusive, but the range of choice was great! We loved the food, and Turkish night was a lovely spectacle. Drinks are ok, cocktails weren't to my liking, but again, there is something for everyone. Beer is great! It was my first time to Side and I will definitely be going back. Be aware, we were the only British speaking people, and the staff spoke German. German tourists were so friendly and welcoming and we tried our best to communicate regardless of the language barrier. Sometimes this was hilarious and I entered up with a pint of rum! We had an issue with the shower (the screen broke) and my daughter received small cuts from the glass shattering. However, the hotel quickly repaired the glass and TUI sent a representative to look after us. To all at Calimera Hane Garden, thank you for a great introduction to the area and for beginning my love affair with Turkey! Highly recommended.
We stayed here as a family for a week in February. The location of the hotel is perfect very close to supermarkets, bazaars, shopping centres and the beach. We stayed in the bedroom for 5 people and to be fair it was quite small for 5. Our air conditioning also wasn’t working. Rooms were cleaned daily and new towels were given daily. The cleaning ladies were super ! All the waiters and barmen/women were so lovely, always cracking a joke and making sure everything is okay for you. However I didn’t like Mr. Muzzaffer’s attitude: we asked him if we can book the a la carte restaurant as part of our 1 week stay and he said there is no room and we went down anyways to see and the restaurant was 95% empty :/ not a good luck for the hotel as the restaurant is part of what we paid for. Breakfast, lunch and dinner and lovely always a bit of variation. The pizza in the pool bar was amazing - best pizza ever. We also made us of the spa during our stay the indoor pool and sauna was great. We tried Hamam with the massage and it was a very good experience for a very good price however after the massage we were constantly being asked and asked if we want more for more money which was quite annoying. The animation team could be a bit better. I understand that the hotel has mostly German visitors but dance nights etc. Should be inclusive for everyone. But after we said that more inclusive music is needed they provided it and it was an amazing night for all - nearly everyone was up and dancing. Overall we had a great stay :)
We recently stayed in Turkey and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall. One of the biggest issues was the language barrier — hardly anyone spoke English, and it felt like the hotel mainly catered towards German guests only. This made communication very difficult throughout our stay.
Some of the hotel staff were quite rude at times, although I do want to mention that the lady on reception was very nice, helpful, and one of the few positive parts of our holiday.
The atmosphere around the hotel was also uncomfortable for families. My children were repeatedly shushed while simply playing in the pool, and at one point my child was even pushed by German guests while swimming, which was completely unacceptable.
Another upsetting experience happened on our last night. We had photos taken with a parrot and I only wanted to purchase one picture, but the man taking the photos refused and said it “wasn’t worth it,” meaning we couldn’t have the photo at all. I found this very rude and unprofessional.
Overall, this holiday did not feel welcoming for English-speaking families, and sadly we left feeling disappointed rather than relaxed and happy.
We are very disappointed! We had so many issues there. On the first day we were given room for 5, but we were 6 people - no pillow, sheets, towels at the right amount, even they knew we are 6 people. We were offered extra bed, however the room was so small, that we were supposed to fly over the beds if we had accepted it. The other option was to buy extra room, unacceptable. They say the issue is with the travel agency, but that is not for the guests to resolve!
The other big problem was that the locker on the room was broken. We were not able to get in without someone from the staff opening it for us, and not to mention that the staff was suited in another building across the street. So any time one of us 4 elders or 2 kids needed to enter the room, we were supposed to go and wait for someone on the reception to give us a new card, to go in the other building nad give it a try, and there to see that it is not working!
On top of this the elevator was broken...
And this is only the first day!
