Akra Sorgun Tui Blue Sensatori

I holidayed in the Akra Sorgun for my wife's 60th celebrations with 12 friends & family for 11 days in late June. This hotel is just SUPERB – everything from the welcome to the rooms, the bars, the pools, the beach and so on is just magical.

From being met off the taxi and given the opportunity to have a top-notch snack at 2am (food served 24 hrs), then into our immaculate room, it was a great start after a typically below par TUI flight (more on this later).

From the off, we reconnected with some of the staff we knew and were introduced to the new staff – their mantra is HAVE THE BEST TIME and they expect nothing in return. The bar is open 24 hrs, food is available 24 hrs and it is outstanding. The hotel restaurant offers amazing choice and standards throughout. The biggest challenge is not overindulging because everything is so well prepared and presented.

Cleanliness throughout is superb, from the dishes, the tables, the rooms, the pool areas, the toilets, everywhere you look the place is pristine. The gardens are something special and so beautifully maintained.

The staff – OMG, I cannot mention them all, but they are just on another level, you arrive to a warm and efficient welcome, kindness and care – you leave with lifelong friends. We dined in all the restaurants; the OLIVE, the SAFFRON and the BEACH and all are equally amazing as they are unique. We had 14 at the SAFFRON on one evening for dinner and we were treated like Royalty. There is so much I could say but it could be long winded; what is obvious is the subtle changes that have been made in the last year or two – the hotel manager with his management team are sealing their style on the whole experience, and it truly makes it 5* in every department.

To all the staff – you know who you are; thank you for all that you did and do, simply amazing people who just cannot do enough to make your stay SENSATIONAL. The entertainment in all areas was exceptional and there is so much thought being put into what is delivered and where. Premium drinks as part of the holiday is superb. We booked a cabana on the beach on 2 separate dates – it was simply luxurious. This place just gets better and better.

The downside; TUI flights have become a miserable experience; LATE, UNCLEAN, PACKED IN LIKE SARDINES (The challenge is accepting this just to holiday at this hotel). On the way home to the UK the Turkish authorities still insist on additional checks on UK flights which are entirely unnecessary – especially as the checks have already been done in the chaos of the airport. Here TOURISM isn’t understood by the staff, and it has made me question whether the juice is worth the squeeze. We had extra space seats 2A and 2B, it was like being locked up for a miserable 4 hour+ flight on a child seat (avoid at all cost) – not at all a good end to the greatest holiday.

AKRA SORGUN You make holiday dreams a reality, nearly everyone I spoke to was a ‘RETURNER’, those who came for the first time were blown away and vowing to come back. Will I go back? YES, I hope to return and I would hope that the flight experience has improved but I am doubtful – why would you go anywhere else when you get this level of SERVICE and STANDARDS. The Akra team in this SENSATORI hotel make our holiday, from start to finish. As soon as we arrive, we feel at home. From the piano bar to the outside Lounge bar and the adult Pool bar the bar team are fantastic. There are almost too many people to name here, they are all great. A special mention for Harkan, Ahmed. Bilal. Ilayda. And of course Metin. Around the adult pool Gabriel, Mr ‘Marvellous’ really makes the pool bar service brilliant! In the restaurants, Atila. Haran, and Goga in the Prime (sorry if the names are spelt wrongly) Farouk and Ibrahim and little Mehmet in the Olive made for a brilliant and welcoming service. The housekeeping and minibar team, can’t do enough for you and work so hard.

On the beach Omah is fantastic, he is so hard working & provides a brilliant experience. The Gozolem house food and Emine is wonderful.

The entertainment was great, especially in the outside bar.

We liked the fact that Suat a senior operations manager made himself available and talk To guests about their experience and the hotel. We had several great conversations with him.

The Prime is a payable Ala carte. It’s well worth it and a brilliant experience. Congrats to the chefs and team, We attended the BBQ. It was fine but doesn’t quite live up to the main restaurant and ala cartes which we highly recommend.

The changes in the Saffran were brilliant and the food so delicious.

We love seafood and the Ocean did not disappoint for both lunch and evening.

It was nice to also see some of the other managers around like Serkan and Mehmet. We highly recommend this hotel.
