Unfortunately, I would not stay at this hotel again, and despite the money spent on this holiday, I left feeling disappointed and concerned about several aspects of the service and safety standards.

Whilst a hotel can offer attractive facilities and entertainment, these should never come at the expense of guests’ privacy, children’s safety or the wellbeing of guests with food allergies. Unfortunately, my experience raised serious concerns in all these areas.

1. Unauthorised access to my hotel room

One of my biggest concerns was discovering that my friend had been given access to my hotel room without my permission or even a simple confirmation from me. What made this particularly concerning was that the member of staff involved was apparently someone who had not even seen us together.

I do not understand how access to a guest’s private room can be granted to another person without checking with the registered guest first. A hotel room is a private space, and I expect my privacy and security to be respected at all times. This was completely unacceptable and left me questioning the hotel’s procedures for protecting its guests.

2. Serious safeguarding concerns at the kids’ club

As a mother, the safety of my daughter is non-negotiable. I signed my daughter into the kids’ club with the clear expectation that she would not be allowed to leave without my permission. Despite this, she was able to leave the kids’ club without me authorising it.

This is extremely concerning. When parents entrust their children to a hotel’s kids’ club, they should be able to have confidence that the staff will follow sign-in and collection procedures and know where the children in their care are at all times.

I specifically signed her in under the understanding that she could not leave without my permission. The fact that she was able to get out raises serious questions about the supervision and safeguarding procedures in place.

For a family-friendly resort, this is a matter that should be taken extremely seriously. Parents should not have to worry about whether their children can leave a supervised area without authorisation.

3. Lack of food allergen information in the restaurant

I also found the food labelling extremely concerning. There were no clear signs identifying the ingredients in the dishes in the food hall, despite numerous dishes containing mushrooms. I have a mushroom allergy, so being unable to identify which foods were safe for me to eat was not simply inconvenient; it was a genuine health concern.

Guests with food allergies should not have to guess what they are eating or repeatedly try to establish what ingredients a dish contains. Clear and accurate allergen information is essential, particularly in a large buffet restaurant where dishes may look similar and ingredients are not always obvious.

This made eating considerably more stressful than it should have been on an all-inclusive holiday. I expected better communication and consideration for guests with dietary and medical requirements.

Overall experience

These were not minor inconveniences that could simply be overlooked. They concerned my privacy, my daughter’s safety and my own health.

I booked a family holiday expecting to relax and enjoy my time away, not to have concerns about who could access my room, whether my daughter could leave a supervised kids’ club without permission, or whether I could safely identify the food I was eating.

I understand that no hotel is perfect, and I do not expect everything to go without a single issue. However, I do expect basic standards of security, safeguarding and food safety to be taken seriously.

Unfortunately, these experiences have significantly affected my overall impression of the hotel. I would urge management to review its room-access procedures, strengthen the kids’ club sign-in and collection safeguards, and ensure that buffet dishes have clear, reliable ingredient and allergen information.

Would I return? No.

Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again, and I would encourage families, particularly parents travelling with young children and guests with food allergies, to consider these concerns carefully before booking.

A hotel can have beautiful facilities, but that does not make up for a lack of confidence in the basic standards that guests should be entitled to expect.
