Royal Seginus

I spent a week at Royal Seginus and overall I had a positive experience. The hotel has many strong points, especially the rooms and the facilities, but there are also several areas where I believe the service and organisation could be improved.

Arrival and check-in: When we arrived, the bellboy/piccolo was standing nearby but did not offer any assistance with the luggage. I personally do not mind carrying my own suitcase, but I noticed that some other guests were offered help, so I was a little surprised.

The reception staff, however, were welcoming, polite and smiling. I had specifically requested a room on a higher floor, and I was happy that this request was honoured.

Once the room was ready, I was able to check in, but I had to find the room myself. Considering that the hotel has 9 floors and more than 650 rooms, finding your room for the first time can be a little confusing. Eventually I found it and then waited for my luggage to be brought upstairs.

The room: This was definitely one of the strongest points of my stay. The room was extremely spacious, clean, tidy and pleasant, with a nice fresh smell. The bathroom was also very large and well equipped with everything needed.

The room was cleaned every day, which I appreciated.

A particularly lovely touch was the housekeeping service. One of the housekeepers made a different towel animal for me every day. It was a small gesture, but it was genuinely a very pleasant surprise to come back to the room and see what had been made that day. Thank you for that!

The minibar was also well stocked with drinks and was replenished regularly. Personally, I would have appreciated having a few small snacks as well, such as crackers, wafers or something similar.

Pools and bars: There are around 7–8 pools, and there were always people around them, but because the resort is so large, there is still plenty of space. If you want a particularly good sunbed/location, I would recommend going earlier in the morning.

There are plenty of bars close to the pools, and the servers were constantly walking around taking orders. I appreciated this, as you generally did not have to leave your sunbed just to get a drink.

Animation and entertainment: This is probably the area where I expected more.

I believe the animation team were trying their best, but for a hotel of this size and category, I expected a little more variety and energy. The daytime activities and shows around the pool were relatively limited and, personally, I did not find them particularly impressive.

Another small but annoying issue was the pool music/sound system. During my entire week, it was not properly fixed, which affected the atmosphere around the pool.

I also did not see any clear information about the evening entertainment programme. The hotel has an app where this information can apparently be found, but nobody mentioned the app or explained this to me. I eventually discovered it myself. At the same time, I understand that many guests are on holiday and do not necessarily want to download apps, register and search for information themselves, so a simple daily programme displayed somewhere around the hotel would be much more convenient.

30 August – Turkish National Day: My stay included 30 August, an important national holiday in Türkiye. I had previously visited Turkey during national holidays, so I was expecting some special organisation in the restaurant and especially for the evening entertainment.

Unfortunately, there was not much that made the evening feel particularly special. The food was essentially the usual buffet, although there was a very large selection, and the evening show was a Spanish dance performance. The “special” part of the evening seemed to be a large cake brought onto the stage.

I am not saying that the show itself was bad, but considering the occasion and the overall standard of the hotel, I personally expected something more memorable.

Staff and service: I want to be fair here. The resort is huge and there are a very large number of guests, so I completely understand that the staff have a lot of work. It is unrealistic to expect a small number of employees to serve guests, clear tables, clean areas and constantly replenish everything at the same time.

Most of the staff I encountered were polite and hardworking. However, there were also some restaurant waiters whose attitude was, to put it mildly, not particularly friendly. I cannot know whether this was due to workload, tiredness or something else, but whatever the reason, guests should not be made to feel that they are a problem.

Overall

Royal Seginus has excellent, very spacious rooms, good facilities, plenty of pools and bars, and a generally pleasant atmosphere. The hotel clearly has a lot to offer, and I enjoyed my stay.

At the same time, I believe the animation, entertainment organisation, communication with guests and consistency of service could be improved. Some of these things may seem small individually, but together they make a difference, especially in a large five-star resort.

I am sharing these points not as criticism for the sake of criticism, but because I think the hotel has a lot of potential and could provide an even better experience with some relatively simple improvements.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I would not hesitate to say that Royal Seginus has many things going for it. I simply expected a little more in some areas for a hotel of this size and category.

We went here as a family of ten and an amazing time was had by all. We had the family room which was very spacious, clean and with comfortable beds. Plenty of sun beds around the pools and more down at the beach which was a short walk or ride down a lovely path. The service was excellent by all the staff in the restaurant and around the pools and our particular favourite on the roof top bar. The food was varied and tasty and had the usual chips, burgers etc for the fussy ones. The entertainment team were great fun and I enjoyed the aqua aerobics and Zumba in the pool everyday. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone! We had an amazing holiday your staff work extremely hard thank you all.
