Worst 5-Star Hotel Experience We’ve Ever Had

We travel regularly and have stayed at many genuine 5-star hotels around the world. Sadly, this was by far one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.

We booked this hotel expecting the luxury, comfort, and service that were advertised. Instead, we found a property that, based on our experience, fell far below the standard of a genuine 5-star resort.

We paid approximately 30,000 RUB per night, yet the room we received was old, poorly maintained, and in desperate need of renovation. The low ceilings made it feel cramped, the wallpaper was peeling, the curtains were stained, the furniture was worn, and there was visible mould on the bathroom ceiling. Finding mould in a room at this price point is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance.

The bed was old and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The lack of soundproofing was equally disappointing. Every night we could hear traffic, loud music from outside, neighbouring guests talking, and even people showering and using the bathroom next door. It was impossible to enjoy the peaceful holiday we had booked.

The room was advertised as 48 m², yet it looked and felt dramatically smaller, closer to 25 m². It bore little resemblance to the spacious accommodation we believed we had paid for, which we found extremely misleading.

The main restaurant was another major disappointment. It was consistently overcrowded, noisy, and often difficult to find a table. The food selection was repetitive, many dishes were only lukewarm, and the overall quality fell well below what we would expect from any hotel claiming to be 5-star.

One of the most upsetting aspects of our stay was seeing a cat with what appeared to be a serious neck injury wandering around inside the main restaurant while guests were eating. We appreciate that cats are common in Türkiye, but allowing animals inside an enclosed restaurant where food is being served is, in our opinion, inappropriate. Seeing an apparently injured animal in the dining area was distressing and raised concerns about hygiene, animal welfare, and the overall management of the property.

The beach is also not directly connected to the hotel, as many guests may reasonably expect. Instead, you must walk through an underpass beneath a busy road to reach it. While this may not be a major issue for everyone, we believe it should be made much clearer before guests book.

We were travelling with our 9-year-old child, and after experiencing the condition of the room and the overall standards throughout the hotel, we made the difficult decision to end our holiday early. That is something we have never had to do before.

A family holiday is something people save and look forward to for months. No guest should have to spend their holiday dealing with mould, poor maintenance, uncomfortable beds, constant noise, overcrowded dining areas, and standards that fall so far below what is advertised.

No guest should ever have to experience what we did.

Based on our stay, this hotel simply did not provide the quality, cleanliness, comfort, or service we expect from a genuine 5-star resort. We left feeling deeply disappointed and wishing we had booked elsewhere.

Antalya has many outstanding hotels that genuinely deserve their 5-star rating. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend considering one of those instead before spending your hard-earned money here.

They have super good service, they work hard day in and day out to provide the best of best for us. Super good food buffé and desert buffé. Overall rating 10/10 would definitely recommend families!
