Gilbert, the place to be in Sherwood..
A very honest review of the good and not so good. We stayed at Sherwood Exclusive Kemer from 25th June- 2nd July 2026. Did we have a good holiday? Yes, we did. Would we come back again? Unfortunately, not and here is why.
COMPLEX - very grand, beautiful views, grounds maintained well and lots of pools which means getting a sunbed was never an issue which was a big plus for us. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the whole complex was questionable. Bars dirty, floors dirty, drinking glasses sometimes dirty, discarded food and drink left out in the heat despite cleaners being around, bins around the pool not always emptied and the pool area was never cleaned throughout the day.
FOOD- lots of choices with different options each day. Found it catered more for international but you do tend to find this in Turkey. However, there was always something to eat with lots of choice and we had some delicious food. There is an ice cream shop and waffle shop and also a patisserie which was a nice touch. All included as part of your package and open for most of the day. There are lots of places to eat aside from the main buffet restaurant so definitely worth trying them out. There are also nuts and crisps available throughout the day but you have to ask for these.
DRINKS - plenty to choose from, hot or cold and even included imports and alcohol free beer. Ice isn’t always put in drinks so make sure you specify if you want this. If you want imported liquor then you do need to ask otherwise you will be given their house version. This is no extra charge. There are fridges around the complex with bottled water but these aren’t always replenished in a timely manner meaning that you’re water is warm.
ROOM - we stayed in a superior room - quite spacious with good view BUT they are not cleaned to a decent standard. In addition to this, we had an issue with ants and while the customer relations are happy to help, we had to complain for a second time before it was sorted to an acceptable standard. They advised that it would be disinfected and it definitely smelt fresher afterwards but again, questionable how well it had been cleaned as items around the room were still in the same place we left them including a used cotton bud that must have fallen out of the bin- this remained there all week. The cleaners only seem to change towels and remake the beds. You could see that nothing else had been cleaned. We even had one day where nothing was done at all and we ended up getting our own fresh towels as the used ones were still wet on the floor. I’m sure that the cleaning team work hard with so many apartments to clean so unsure whether this is more a staffing to ratio issue but either way, the floor was grubby and we wouldn’t walk around without flip flops on. The room layout wasn’t great either as no actual bathroom as such. There is a walk in shower with a door and a toilet with a door but the sink and place where you would typically get dried is an open space. This proved difficult when needing some privacy as there was 3 of us sharing a room.
STAFF - very inconsistent with helpfulness and friendliness. Some days, you would be served promptly and other days not so. Some staff were so lovely and friendly whereas others seem to have an attitude and make it seem like asking for something was an inconvenience. It also seemed that certain nationalities had preference and were treated differently. We didn’t find reception staff most friendly upon arrival either. There were staff on roller skates taking drinks orders around the pool but again, really inconsistent as to whether you got asked.
SHOPS - there are shops within the complex but some of these are expensive. Convenient but overpriced. However, if you walk out of the complex and turn right, there are lots of shops located across the road which sell anything and everything at a much cheaper price. They even have a chemist. Just to note that prices are in Euro. I’m sure they accept Lira but just in case you’re unsure what currency, Euro is widely used/accepted.
Even though we had a lovely time and the weather was superb hitting mid 30s every day, we wouldn’t return as we felt that some things just need improving on which should be standard when staying in a hotel with this rating. We paid quite a bit of money to come to this hotel but felt it was not the 5* it claims to be. Also, I’m not sure whether it’s the time of year we have come but there didn’t seem to be any English folk around. Not an issue, just an observation. Oh and one last thing, BE AWARE of the trolley carts driving around the complex as they go extremely fast despite lots of people around and are quiet so don’t often hear them before you have to dart out of the way.
This review isn’t to put anyone off coming but more to be wary of some things I have mentioned. This is a genuine review from someone who is down to earth and has been to some lovely hotels in Turkey but just felt a little disappointed with this one.
Food is nice, rooms are pretty acceptable and get fixed very quickly if something wrong.
This location is worth a million dollar. turquoise Mediterranean Sea on one side and the incredible mountains on the other. The Lagoon Room was perfect and just tree step away from the nearest pool. In just 1 minutes walk we had the amazing waterpark. We also want to send a big Thank You to the customer service and specially to Aycha, who took really good care of us and the few problems that came along.
Unfortunately, our impression of the hotel is a poor one. We received a very dirty room that we asked to be cleaned and when the lady came to clean, I had to explain her that first you have to sweep and then mop, not just mop the floor with the dirt on it. The toilet was not washed, the surfaces were full of stains and dust, the floor was very dirty and with hair. The room is outdated and some things need to be renovated. Outside of a few pools, the support you hold to enter the pool is detached or broken and poses a danger of falling on the stairs. The plastic lights in some pools are fallen and again it can be a danger for the kids. The public toilets are very dirty and the floor is a general mess, not vacuumed and stained. It is completely different from what we expected after seeing in the pictures. However, it is a 5-star hotel, the price was not low and we had other expectations. We could not find sun loungers at 6:30 am because it seems there is no politic of the hotel that in the evening all the sunbeds are empty. The lady from the public relations was very nice and came to the beach to get us some sunbeds and umbrellas but nobody actually brought us anything after waiting an hour, so we stayed at the pool the whole week instead on the beach, because of that. The area near the pools is not washed, looked dirty and the area from the restaurant, the tables and under the tables as well not well cleaned. In the first evening at the bistro, my husband didn't receive his food after 1 h waiting. The waiters sometimes were bringing what we asked but many times they forgot and we had to insist for drinks or forks, etc. When we arrived at 10 in the evening we had dinner at the bistro. The waiter forgot several times what we ordered, my husband did not receive his food after 1 hour of waiting and the portions received were not enough to feed even a child. There are some positive things. The pools have clean and warm water and that there is a beautiful vegetation and view outside. The food is varied and really good and the kids had fun at the mini aquapark. The entertainment in the evening was nice and interesting and the playground too.
Unfortunately we cannot recommend this hotel and we will definitely not return because it Is definitely not a 5 star hotel. It is frustrating to come on vacation wanting to relax and to have such things that bother you and having to complain to the reception. To me it looks like a management problem, because the surroundings look really nice and it could be an excellent hotel.
