Siam Elegance Hotel and Spa

We are a party of 5 adults that have just returned from 2 weeks at this Hotel. Including ourselves there were probably less than 20 English guests, the bulk being from Eastern Europe, Russia and Germany.

Location - quite isolated in a small up and coming town with a few hotels, a shopping area selling fake everything but not much else, some Turkish restaurants and little else. Taxis are available in the Resort but are very expensive. The next nearest Resort cost 40 euros for a round trip, there is also a local bus service.

Staff - most Staff very nice and able to communicate to some degree. Animation team were amazing. An exception to this was some Staff at the main Reception desk who were rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. As these are the first and last faces that most people see at the beginning and the end of their holiday I think hotel management should address this and take action. This Hotel also has no money changing facilities. They will direct you to the nearest cashpoint where you must pay 10 euros commission for every 100 euros withdrawn.

Rooms - our rooms were spotless and remained so through our stay, cleaning staff very friendly. Improvements in our room would be to be provided with handsoap of some sort in the bathroom (other rooms had this, ours did not) and also our room, a 2 storey duplex room, had the facility of a kettle but there was nowhere to plug it in to boil other than in the bathroom. One final point for anyone considering booking a duplex room is the lighting on the downstairs floor is completely inadequate in the evening and after dark. We enquired as to if we were missing some working lights and were told the rooms were meant to have understated lighting and that we could get borrowed light from the balcony window, not very helpful if it’s dark which is when the lights were needed!. There are no channels on the TVs in the room to watch in English with the exception of CNN news which only covers American politics.

Public areas of the Hotel were also very clean with lots of seating areas, bars and a few shops.

Beach - The beach was sandy but very stony at the water’s edge so beach shoes are definitely needed.

Food - from our point of view this is the one area that really lets the Hotel down. The food was extremely repetitive (most days we knew what would be in the lineup and exactly where it would be in the lineup), it was usually lukewarm or cold and didn’t cater for English tastes, (There were lots of thin, watery stews and odd combinations, a lot of which was unlabelled or the description made no sense). I’m guessing the bulk of the offering was to appeal to the larger Eastern European group of guests but there was so much waste I don’t think the quality of the food was great from their point of view either. After 14 days we were very ready to get back to familiar, tasty, hot foods and I do feel that if the Hotel is unwilling or unable to cater to the tastes of ALL their guests, including the English ones, then they should not welcome bookings from those people.

Overall the Hotel was very nice, although it is starting to look a bit dated and show signs of wear and tear. The awful, unidentifiable, poor quality food though is the reason that we will not return.

Our stay at Siam Hotel & Spa had many highlights, but also some room for improvement. The hotel itself is very clean, and the reception team was incredibly friendly and helpful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the food, which featured a wonderful selection of dishes.The main downside was the service in the restaurant and bars. The staff there do not speak English, making it difficult to communicate. We also felt that their overall attitude was not particularly friendly or welcoming.If the management can improve the service standard and language skills in the dining sections, this would be an excellent place to stay.
