Extremely disappointing experience – not worth the price

We stayed at Regnum Carya from September 20 to October 2: two adults and our one-year-old child. Our holiday cost over 1 million RUB, and in our opinion, the experience was absolutely not worth the price.

Housekeeping was poor. Sand constantly remained on the floor, there was dirt under the beds, and we never saw the room being properly vacuumed. Several times we also found dirty plates among supposedly clean ones in the restaurant. Furniture throughout the hotel also looked tired and worn.

Our room faced a 24-hour bar, and for several nights we could barely sleep because of loud guests drinking and talking until early morning. Using the air conditioning was also unpleasant because there was a strong smell of dampness and mould.

Room key cards repeatedly stopped working, leaving us standing outside the room with a one-year-old child waiting for someone to bring or reactivate a card.

Food selection is huge, but quantity does not equal quality. Some dishes were good, but many were disappointing. Meat was repeatedly extremely overcooked and tough. The red caviar also appeared to us to be imitation rather than genuine.

The most serious issue was illness. All three of us became sick during/after this holiday. Our one-year-old developed a fever of up to 39°C, and we had to seek medical assistance and travel to hospital three times. Both adults subsequently became ill as well, with fever, body aches and respiratory symptoms, followed later by gastrointestinal symptoms.

After returning home, our child still required an ambulance and further medical visits, and treatment continued. We have medical documentation and correspondence with our insurance company confirming the medical assistance we sought during the trip.

We cannot medically determine where any infection was contracted, and we are not claiming that the hotel was the source. However, considering our experience, the poor cleanliness, dirty dishes and the number of visibly unwell guests we encountered, we believe the hotel would benefit from a serious sanitary inspection.

Service was also often very slow, and some waiters behaved in an overly familiar and unprofessional manner.

We travel frequently and have stayed at many high-end resorts, including in the UAE, but this was one of our most disappointing experiences.

For a holiday costing over 1 million RUB, we expected a completely different standard of cleanliness, service and comfort. We would not return to Regnum Carya.

Excellent resort, fantastic friendly and helpful staff and so much on offer. The Macaroon Patisserie is so worth a visit with different choices being available throughout your stay. The staff are so helpful here, always greeting with a friendly smile and welcome. We got to chat each day at coffee time with two of the lovely staff Aysenur and Merve, who helped us to choose our Patisserie and coffee (strength of coffee to order!). Then in the evening returning from a wonderful buffet supper, the girls were handing out their wonderful chocolates and macaroons. I can’t speak highly enough of their friendliness and carrying out their work so professionally. Thank you to both young ladies, and the Patissieres for making such wonderful treats.

We really liked the room, the surroundings, and the hotel atmosphere.
