We've just come back from Asteria with our 13 year old daughter and our friends with children aged 14 and 17 and found it a pleasant but average stay. The room in particular was disappointing . It was quite dated and dark as there were no ceiling lights in the rooms only lamps which made it quite difficult to get ready at night! We had a couple of issues with the room which we reported and were fixed but it's not what you expect from a 5* star hotel. The food was pretty average and repetitive..queues were long for crepes/pancakes/eggs which got annoying. There didn't seem to be enough staff for the size of the hotel and I think its the first time I've been to a hotel where there was no relationship with the waiters or reps. Most 5* hotels I've stayed in offer waiter service around the pool which we didn't get here. The relax pool with the swim up bar was lovely..we really enjoyed it around there and the slides in the main pool were good fun. The entertainment was good for 4/5 nights of the 10 we stayed. The bar areas were good and the drinks were better than some hotels I've been too. The grounds of the hotel were well kept and we liked the access to the beach. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but the hotel itself was average and we expected more for what we paid.
So much to say about this hotel where do I start!
Staff As soon as we arrived late the staff at reception were happy to let us know food was being served it was 11.30pm and the lobby bar was open until 12. This is where we met the best staff of the whole trip lobby bar Aran (Sorry think this isn’t correct spelling) he made us all feel welcome every day great drinks each time. He really takes time to know his guests taught my son to make his fav cocktail. Hasan in the restaurant my son has multiple food allergies. Hasan went out of his way daily to make my son feel comfortable and go though each food. He even went to effort on a day off to let me know and the person on duty the next day greeted Kobe and again made him feel at ease. This meant the world to all of us and really helped us relax at dinner times which could have been stressful! Also should add food is lovely yes some nights it’s repeated main dishes but always something different. Be sure to check restaurant out across the hotels as each slightly different. The being at the main hotel. Day snacks change across hotels too. You have to try the wraps at the quiet hotel snack bar yummy. Over all though all staff lifeguards included where lovely.
The hotel is set out over three sites quiet hotel garden hotel and the main site which has all entertainment and quicker access to beach and the private beach area.
No need to put out towels there are so many sunbeds over all hotels but you will find the pool you like the most.
The hotel is clean tidy housekeeping comes in daily they are also all wonderful if you want a lay in they do come Back later.
Beach towels changed daily just go to spa to do this.
Family holiday kids ages 18, 15 and 11 with the different things going on no one was ever fed up.
Lots to do around this area also
Stayed here for a family holiday in later July, the place does so ,any good things, but also so many bad things it’s hard to recommend until they address the issues. The good things were the staff, they could not do enough for you, so friendly and plenty of them, the entertainment manager was amazing he spoke 4 languages and ripped through the points perfectly. The restaurant staff were really helpful we had a special occasion birthday on he trip and they made the meal very memorable. The location and settings have so much going for it, it was really well spread out, the pool and slides were great. They had separate pools and the over 16 pool was nice with a swim up bar, but it was very quiet, got boring after 1 hour The evening entertainment was a little hit and miss, they tried to entertain the teens but a few nights it wasn’t good, with outdated music and Turkish music, play to the crown you have mostly European's, BUT they had 1 night that was a DJ set and party on the football field and it was like being back at a rave in the early 2000’s fantastic the teens loved it, they had a laser show and the music was the latest dance tracks as well, the 40 somethings adults were there as well! Happily keeping eye on the kids! Some of the evening entertainment was hit and miss as well. The weekly pool party was good, but if they got proper foam machines it could be so much better! But the live singer was great. The beech was right out the back of the pools and was nice, was good that you could dip in and out of the sea without having to be there all day. The downside was the rooms and the food. Room tatty and old, plugs hanging out the wall, bathroom from the 80’s, it did have a separate bedroom which was nice as the teen was in the lounge, but that was it, the room was really small. The food, was a huge choice, but quickly got boring as it didn’t really change much during the week, they had some standout stuff that was really good and again the chefs would talk to you and serve, but not all did. But overall the food got boring after 3 nights, so we went to the À la Carte - WOW what a mistake the worst experience of the week and they really need to change it! Italian restaurant with nothing that resembled Italian at all, such a shame as the setting was really nice. They had a small snack bar with traditional Turkish savoury pastry which was really good, that ended up being our lunch the last few days, as the main room was just rinse and repeat.
Overall for the price we paid it was OK, family we went with made it! but we were so glad we only went for 7 nights, anymore would have been like pulling teeth! Loads more choice on the Turkish coast worth looking at if the budget suits.
This hotel is quite close to Antalya airport, our transfer only took about 45 mins. It's also only 17 mins of walking away from Belek centre with many shops and pharmacies. The hotel's own sandy beach is adjacent to the hotel, and we could always find free sunloungers, no matter what time of the day we went. Everywhere on the territory staff work hard to keep the place clean. Food was varied, fresh, tasty and plentiful. There's plenty of seating available inside, outside, upstairs and downstairs. We had a Garden room, which was in a building away from the main pool. The building was always in the shade, so though the heat could be felt on the balcony, it was never in the direct sunlight. Plus, the AC worked perfectly well in cooling down the room. During the day there were plenty of activities on offer: water slides (amazing!), pool games and fitness, darts, boccia, yoga, pilates etc. All activities are free for guests. For evening entertainment they had professional acts or made a party with a DJ, laser lights, all the works. The acts they had, while not perhaps, sleek and grand, were quite good. We certainly didn't feel the desire to walk out halfway from any of them, and we are an adult and a teenager. Plus, afterwards there was a disco with good music and a bar where they were even mixing cocktails. Altogether, we both loved our holiday at Asteria and would definitely recommend it!
It’s a shame to give such a bad review because the hotel and everything was nice, but every night they have a dj playing music you can hear from the room till 2am. We travelled with a young baby who was disturbed every night and for the adults it was impossible to sleep. When we spoke to reception they just said that they cater for all guests, but I don’t understand how you can call yourself a family resort and do this.
