TripAdvisor Review
Lovely four star stay, not as plant-based friendly as they advertise

I want to start this review by saying that we really did have a wonderful stay and this is truly a lovely hotel. Echoing what others have said, it feels like a four star hotel (very clean, great amenities, but missing the five star service, e.g. bringing luggage to the room, poolside service, generally going the extra mile). The staff overall were very friendly though and clearly working their socks off.

One of the reasons we booked to stay at this hotel, was that it had advertised on the website specifically as being vegetarian and vegan friendly. I am vegan and my husband is vegetarian. Whilst we by no means went hungry, I'm not sure you could class this hotel as vegan or veggie friendly, as none of the food was labelled, there were rarely any vegan or vegetarian main options, and very little plant based protein. I did really enjoy the food I ate, but it was mostly just side salads and vegetables and as we were staying for 12 nights, I did buy some plant based protein from the local supermarket to top up my meals! Breakfast was generally a lot more plant based friendly, with selections of fruits, seeds, nuts and plant based milks, as well as breads and cooked veg. Just clearer labelling and one vegan main option at dinner would have made a huge difference to my experience. Particularly as often the side vegetables would have fish or meat in them (a chickpea meal that unfortunately had ham in, could easily have just put the ham in a separate dish on the side, or the asparagus that had prawns on the top).

Another strange side note, was that for the first few days of our stay, there was a whole film crew, using the hotel as a set. No explanation from the hotel or information. We felt particularly uncomfortable when the film crew were using the pool area (a substantial portion of which was unavailable to guests) to film. At one stage, we were swimming and suddenly actors jumped into the pool and they seemed to be filming with us right there. It could also be noisy at points, with large equipment and lighting going up. We noticed one poor couple having wires thrown over their sun loungers whilst they were using them, and they awkwardly left the area. Not what you want when you're in your swimming costumes and feeling exposed!

A final point of criticism is that the fire alarm in our room had a constant flashing green line that was very noticeable at night (being almost above the bed).

Points that we loved:

  • aside from the film set days, the pool was lovely, so clean and tranquil, a very relaxing area.
  • the balcony area at breakfast time was my favourite spot, a beautiful view to start the day.
  • our room was modern, spacious and well maintained by housekeeping.
  • the area was lovely, we loved strolling around the local park and walking into the town (although be warned it's a steep walk back!).

Well done if you've read this far! Thanks to the team at Raddison for an overall very nice stay and relaxing holiday.

Great times at the Radisson

We went with our 2 adult children and stayed for 11 nights in this lovely hotel in 2 x Junior Suites. Can't fault anything really, other than sometimes the food isn't labelled so my wife and daughter had to be careful (being gluten intolerant) but were shown around the available food every evening by the restaurant manager. The pool was lovely with always a bed available, and the whole site was spotlessly clean. One minor criticism was the staff at the bar as sometimes very slow service - I don't know what would happen if it was a busy customer night! Also the last 3 days featured a film crew using the outside area which restricted ours and other guests around certain areas as I believe a spanish soap episode was being shot at the hotel - no big deal but it would have been nice to have informed the guests - if not for this we would have given a 5 star review. Shout out to all the staff and particularly Leandro who was really helpful at dinner! We would not hesitate to return to this lovely part of Tenerife and stay in this hotel again.

Great hotel with nice location

Very nice hotel with great service located far from noise and heat, but close enough to walk all you want to see around. Very green. Nice pool and gym. And with delicious food for breakfast and dinner!

Poor sleeping conditions and not a five stars

I stayed at this hotel for five nights and, while I had an overall pleasant stay, it did not live up to the standards I would expect from a five-star property. In my opinion, this is a good four-star hotel, but it falls short of delivering a true five-star experience.

The biggest issue was the room design. If, like me, you need a dark room to sleep well, be aware that there is simply no way to make the room properly dark. During the day, a significant amount of daylight enters the room because, while one side has blackout curtains, the other side has uncovered windows with no blackout protection at all. At night, the problem continues: light from outside enters through these uncovered windows, and the two bathroom mirrors have integrated LED lighting that remains illuminated even in standby mode, with no option to switch it off. We ended up covering both the mirrors and the windows with towels just to make the room dark enough to sleep. This is simply not what I would expect from a hotel in this category.

Another issue was the bedding. The duvet was far too warm for the climate and not adapted to the temperatures in Tenerife. Even with the air conditioning running at its maximum setting throughout the night, we still found it too warm to sleep comfortably. Offering lighter duvets during the summer months would make a significant difference.

The sound insulation was also disappointing. We stayed on the first floor and could constantly hear people walking in the room above us, doors closing, and other noises as if they were inside our own room. Judging from other online reviews mentioning similar issues, this does not appear to be an isolated incident.

The breakfast is generally good and offers a decent variety of food, but there are areas that could easily be improved. The coffee from the machines was below the standard I would expect from a five-star hotel, and the fresh vegetable selection was extremely limited, consisting only of salad leaves and cucumber.

The pool towel system was also unnecessarily confusing. It operates with a card system, but no explanation or towel card was provided during check-in, meaning we had to work it out ourselves.

The biggest disappointment, however, was how guest concerns were handled. During our stay, I reported the room issues to the reception. The staff listened and assured us they would see what they could do, but we never received any follow-up. For me, this is one of the key differences between a four-star and a five-star hotel. I understand that not every issue can be solved immediately, or even at all. However, what guests should always expect from a five-star property is proactive communication. Even if no solution is available, someone should come back to the guest, explain the situation, and acknowledge the concern. Simply not responding is not the level of service I expect from a hotel in this category.

While all staff members we encountered were polite and friendly, the reception team often appeared disorganised and insufficiently trained. Several interactions lacked confidence and clear communication, which reinforced the impression that the service level does not match the hotel’s five-star rating.

Overall, the hotel certainly has its strengths. The facilities are pleasant, the breakfast is enjoyable despite a few shortcomings, and the rooms are comfortable in many respects. However, the combination of poor light control, overly warm bedding, inadequate sound insulation, operational inconsistencies, and, above all, the lack of follow-up when legitimate concerns were raised means that this hotel does not deliver the level of comfort and service I associate with a five-star property.

I communicated all of these points to the reception staff again during check-out in the hope that they will be taken into account and improve the experience for future guests. I’m
