Blue Sea Costa Jardin Spa

Upon arriving we checked in went to our room, 3 2 adults and a 16yr old, quite spacious with large balcony 2 singe beds and a bed settee, no tv, no kettle seating for 2 people so that was a disappointment, anyway we were shattered so went to bed, room was hot so turned on air conditioning that was ok, there was a added fan on roof but was hanging off and disconnected FOOD: breakfast, not a lot of choice compared to other places I’ve stayed I ended up having bacon and fried eggs every day as rest was poor, same with lunch and dinner most of the week it was all repetitive pork chicken fish SNACK BAR: well no point putting snacks on was the same chips, horrible hot dogs, nuggets and burgers that looked raw every day and ice creams etc had to be paid for DRINKS: worse drinks I’ve ever had this was my first holiday where I have not drank alcohol I tried every cocktail all were sickly or disgusting I’m a pina colada girl and it tasted like vomit, branded drinks had to be paid for, iced coffees had to be paid for POOL/SPA excellent couldn’t fault it large outside pool with slide, jacuzzi, worth paying €18 to go into spa as it had ice caves, spas, sauna, pool, fountains etc only issue with pool was it shut at 7 every day and still daylight outside so was disappointed ENTERTAINMENT: karaoke, quiz night, magician etc etc was disappointed no bingo any night and most of the entertainment started at 9:30 then finished at 10:15-10:30 then at 11pm you were kicked out of the bar and sent to your room you weren’t allowed to stay outside Will mention they did eventually put a tv in our room but was no point as you couldn’t watch it in English as tv didn’t support the uk region which was awful as like I said above you got kicked out at 11 and then sent to room to do nothing Overall the hotel was having a sort of refurbishment you could see they were trying to sort out the out dated parts which is good, most of staff were ok, nice shop in hotel only negative was no prices on anything at all, we did book excursions with the hotel and they arranged everything including transport, free bus into town weekdays which was good as most things are away from hotel, overall a lot of things red updating as noting like the pictures, gardens were untidy, mini golf looked grubby with no golf clubs, table tennis worn with no bats etc, pool tables were great upstairs bar closed everyday so if you was playing pool upstairs you then had to walk downstairs for drinks Altogether I would probably not book here again as food/drinks would need to be looked at when you book all inclusive for these things then they need to be good and unfortunately they just weren’t I can handle the little issues around the hotel but not that

There is much to say about this hotel.

Firstly, it is obvious that there are extensive works going on here. There are builders and painters throughout the hotel. When we got into rooms, there was a lot of paint on the floor and masking tape around the place. It seems that planned maintenance was unfinished before high season. After speaking to a local taxi driver, they say that the hotel was undergoing maintenance and was not ready to be opened. This is obvious when you stay there.

You need to pay €1 for a cup, for any drinks. Ensure you bring cash if you are to book.

The food is substandard in comparison to many other places I’ve visited. However, there is always something that is ok. It lacks coherence. Their attempts at themed nights always fail, as they don’t stick to the theme.

The hotel has a general feeling of ‘outdated’, but it has the bones of being a really decent hotel - it has extensive gardens and tennis courts. It just feels they don’t utilise their space effectively, and need a large cash injection from a holiday provider.

This hotel is in a very poor location, which wouldn’t be so bad if it was 5*. However, it is quite the walk to visit Puerto de la Cruz, and a taxi back to the hotel is a must. It is located in a residential area (right in the middle) which does make me feel like I am unwanted in the area. There’s farmland beside, so a cockerel woke us every day from 4am.

Corridors are very loud from about 12-3am, so this often wakes you too. Many guests were heard fighting, screaming, crying, fornicating, and banging on doors of others.

There’s a snack bar poolside that provides hot dogs. They aren’t nice. The shop on site provides a vast array of items. There was a photographer at the buffet dinner.

Air con works well, although we have had to move rooms twice due to flooding. There’s a fan and a good hairdryer provided in the rooms. However, the spare pillows we received were filthy and old (pictured). The bathroom had cracks and the toilet was dirty. Again, this seems that they didn’t have time to do it. The rooms have all had the “landlord special” coat of white gloss, but everything is lacklustre. The corridors bear live electrics and lights hanging from the ceiling, which poses an enormous safety risk. The lifts hardly ever work. The lights go off at 11pm, so if you want to see on your balcony, you are put into total darkness after then.

There is little to no entertainment. There is a poolside schedule, but this isn’t posted anywhere, which I thought was odd. The entertainment is in a small area beside the bar (for which you need to queue for ages, then pay for a cup), and it’s indoors. It’s totally substandard, so we didn’t watch it.

The weather in the north isn’t as good as the south, so it is often cold and overcast. It is now late July and not what I go abroad for. Many other guests staying there feel the same way. A lady called it “the prison hotel”, while another called it “the chicken hotel” - both totally valid outlooks. There are many better hotels to book, should you wish. This can only be comparable to a late 2010s Pontins, except plonked in the mountains of Tenerife.

Thought I found a nice hotel to celebrate my birthday but boy was I wrong looks nothing like the pictures, the food was! Well I will say you can live on it that's it, rooms clean but no bedding has been changed since we got here, towels not been changed since we got four days ago! Today being my birthday thought I would celebrate it at the hotel with my kids and friends but that was cut short at 11pm we all got kicked out the bar and told we had to go to our rooms if I new I was going to be given a curfew for my birthday I would've never booked this hotel I don't recommend anyone to go to this hotel unless you fancy being tucked in bed by the security guard who couldn't even smile at the kids basically the hotel is rubbish or by the way tv didn't work lol
