Adults Only - Ideal for beach vacationers, this hotel is located in Puerto de la Cruz and is only a few steps from the beach. It is about one mile to the center. The nearest bus stop is just 5 minutes' walk (a quarter mile) away. It is about 15 miles to the nearest airport, Tenerife - Norte-Los Rodeos (TFN), and Tenerife - Sur-Reina Sofia (TFS) is around 55 miles away. The hotel was modernized in 2021. Guests have a choice of 202 suites. The reception desk is open around the clock. To ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay, the hotel provides. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas (no extra charge). A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the parking lot. A bicycle rental service provides all the necessary equipment for exploring the surrounding area. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning. A balcony or terrace is among the standard features in the rooms. Valuables can be securely stored in a safe. Guests will also find a mini fridge included among the standard features. A telephone, a flatscreen television with satellite channels and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A hairdryer is provided in the bathrooms. In the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The hotel has 202 non-smoking rooms.

Situated on the north coast at Puerto de La Cruz, just 400 metres from Playa Jardin Beach, this hotel is close to the old part of the town which still retains an atmosphere of Spanish colonial charm.

Relaxing break.
We found the hotel to be very relaxing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping very good. Entertainment was good on the nights we saw. The food was good with plenty of choice and good quality, however it could have done with being a bit hotter temperature wise. Pool area was very relaxing. We were all inclusive and on the day of checkout (12 noon) we were advised that our all inclusive had finished so from then on had to pay for drinks etc, our pick up was 17-45. Never experienced this before. The hotel offer a shuttle bus to beach area but failed to do so on 2 days. Overall a good holiday experience and if you want a relaxing holiday then I would give this hotel consideration.
Not a 4-Star Hotel at All
Pros:
- Modern design with good furnishings.
- Friendly restaurant staff, clearing plates quickly and kindly offering to help carry things back to the table.
- Spacious room with a big bed (twins together).
- Two shower options: normal or rain.
- Free nearby parking.
- Good view from the lobby area into the town and sea.
- Lots of seating available in the lobby and around the hotel.
- Great hotel layout with open hallways and easy access to the pool for all floors.
- When connected, WiFi speed is very fast.
- One of the bartenders (David) was very friendly and helpful, waiting on guests during the evening entertainment.
- Having actual decent sized glasses for breakfast drinks.
- Good entertainment every night.
Cons:
- Not enough sun beds for all guests meaning many have to sit in chairs.
- The same drinks are served at both the main bar and pool bar, however, only some of these are available at the pool bar as part of the all inclusive package.
- Rooms are fairly bland, lacking character.
- Some areas of the hotel are in disrepair, including dents, scratches, marks, holes in the ceiling with active water leaking, stains in the carpets.
- Poor lunch provided at the restaurant on the first day with limited options. Only one main dish was available and everything else was sides.
- Lunch on the second day provided more protein options, however, each was cooked to order meaning you have to stand at the kitchen and wait for each item to be cooked. While we appreciated this meaning it was all fresh, this should instead be done by table service to avoid standing and waiting, or simply have these items precooked as a buffet.
- The need to pay a deposit to get a pool towel, not something to be expected at a four-star hotel.
- Pool towels are limited to only one per guest.
- Pool towels are not long enough for the sun loungers by half.
- No snacks or food available in the evening after dinner has finished at 21:30.
- Open access to all room areas and lifts, meaning anyone can come in off the street and access all parts of the hotel - these areas should be keycard controlled.
- Only two choices of juice at breakfast: orange and pineapple. Both are not chilled.
- Foul smell of sewage around the outside of the hotel where many balconies are and where the sun beds are for the pool.
- No food served at the pool bar between 13:00-15:00.
- No non-fizzy drinks available at lunch or dinner from the restaurant, except water - no juice or squash.
- Many of the plates in the restaurant were visibly dirty.
- On both days after housekeeping had visited, they left our ground floor balcony doors unlocked, despite us locking it between these visits for security.
- Inaccurate timings given for food service at the pool bar. Every time they would say “10 minutes” regardless of how busy it was - the more common times were 25-30 minutes.
- There is weak WiFi signal at the far end of the sun bed area. You can connect but it frequently drops out.
- Individual serving at the main bar (Marco) was rude when we ordered drinks, he made the wrong one and when we politely requested the correct one, he argued, rolled his eyes, walked off and made it, and slammed the correct drink down - all without saying anything. The second night he was also rude when ordering drinks with a similar attitude. This was what made us move the rating from a 3 star to a 2 star - in a 4 star hotel, you except good service, never less than respectful, not rudeness.
Fantastic hotel!
The hotel is lovely, very spacious with excellent, polite and helpful staff - especially at reception. The facilities are fantastic with entertainment and daily activities. The rooms are a good size with comfortable beds.
Quiet, Average & Quiet.
The location was almost perfect. The hotel is situated uphill from the town and beach, so the walk back is quite steep. Puerto de la Cruz itself is beautiful, with stunning scenery, lovely beaches, great local restaurants, shops and plenty of things to see and do. However, there’s very little nightlife.
My husband and I stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The breakfast was average – nothing special – and the selection was the same every day, which became a little repetitive.
The hotel itself is lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the housekeeping team did an excellent job, and our suite was spacious, modern and very comfortable. There are just a few areas around the hotel that could do with some maintenance to make everything feel a little more polished.
Overall, I wouldn’t say the hotel offered great value for money, but it was okay. The atmosphere was very quiet, as were the other guests. If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, this would be a great choice. For us, though, it felt like it was missing a few things. There was no music around the pool, which is also quite small. Unfortunately, the gym was closed for our entire stay, and the hotel doesn’t have a spa, sauna, steam room or other wellness facilities.
In the end, the location wasn’t ideal for the type of holiday we wanted. It was too far from many of the attractions we were hoping to visit, including the markets, boat trips, Siam Park, beach clubs, spa facilities and even areas with a bit more evening atmosphere.
Overall, it’s a good hotel if your priority is peace and quiet, but it wasn’t quite the right fit for us.
Fabulous holiday at the AluaSoul Orotava Valley Hotel
We had a fantastic week at the AluaSoul Orotava Valley hotel. I had read all the reviews so was ready for the steep hills into town! However if you left the hotel on the ground floor rather than from reception, as someone else had advised, the hills weren’t too bad. Everything in the hotel was outstanding, from the comfortable room with coffee machine, kettle, televisions in bedroom and sitting room with English channels and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in on holiday! The food was delicious with lots of choice, always hot and regularly refilled. All the staff were friendly, happy and helpful. The only two negatives, and this is more my personal opinion is that the All Inclusive cocktail menu was limited ( I do like my cocktails on holiday!) and the entertainment in the evening wasn’t great. However they did show the World Cup final so we got to see Spain win and the atmosphere that night was amazing. There was a pleasant outside seating area for those of us who like a cigarette in the evening so not having any great evening entertainment wasn’t really a great loss. I would recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday in a great location.
