Another great stay
It’s our third time here and won’t be the last. I can’t fault the place. The room was excellent and was cleaned daily.i must big up the staff all were great across all departments. The hotel was just about full during our visit and the bars do get busy but enough staff are manning the bars and queue times are very short. The food is very good with fish, meats, pasta,pizza,fresh salad and vegetables every day. I personally don’t eat any vegetables or salad and I still found plenty to eat. Altogether another great holiday at the RIU Buenavista. Thank you to the management and more importantly the staff.
Horrible experience!
I am absolutely appalled by the way this situation has been handled by the management of this RIU hotel.
After checking out, I realised that I had accidentally left valuable personal effects inside the wardrobe of my hotel room. I contacted the hotel immediately and asked them to locate and secure my belongings.
What followed was extremely concerning. I was initially told that there was nothing recorded whatsoever in the lost-and-found register for my room. Yet subsequently, the hotel confirmed that at least one of my belongings had in fact been found while other valuable personal effects remain missing.
That contradiction is deeply concerning and raises very legitimate questions about what happened to the belongings I left inside my room.
Even more shocking was the attitude of the hotel’s director when I raised my concerns. I was told, in substance, that it was “my word against theirs”. I found this response utterly unacceptable. Instead of taking responsibility for properly investigating the disappearance of a guest’s belongings, the response I received left me with the clear impression that, without CCTV, the hotel simply did not intend to take the matter any further.
That is an extraordinary attitude for a hotel to take towards a paying guest.
These belongings were not left in a public area or somewhere accessible to anyone. They were left inside the wardrobe of my hotel room. The room was subsequently accessed and cleaned. One of my belongings was found, while other valuable personal effects are still missing. The fact that there may be no CCTV does not make the questions surrounding what happened disappear.
I have formally raised the matter with RIU and with the relevant authorities, and I am carefully documenting the circumstances and retaining all relevant correspondence.
For an international hotel group of RIU’s standing, I find this handling of the situation frankly disgraceful. A guest reports valuable belongings missing from inside their hotel room, one item is subsequently confirmed as found, other items remain missing, and the response from management is effectively that it is “my word against theirs”.
When a hotel cannot give a guest confidence that belongings left inside their room will be properly accounted for, investigated and treated with the seriousness they deserve, the quality and reputation of the entire RIU experience are inevitably compromised. In my experience, this situation has left me with a serious lack of confidence in the security of my belongings and, above all, a profound lack of trust in the hotel’s management.
The absence of CCTV should not become an excuse for a lack of investigation.
This experience has seriously damaged my trust in RIU. I would strongly urge other guests to exercise extreme caution with valuable belongings, because based on my experience, I cannot say that I feel adequately reassured that such incidents will be handled with the seriousness they deserve.
Extremely disappointing. Extremely concerning. And a deeply unsatisfactory response from hotel management.
Perfect family holiday
We arrived here on 30th August. We had two rooms booked: a two-bedroom family room and a standard-sized room.
On arrival, only one of our rooms was ready, but that wasn’t an issue as we were early checking in. The other room didn’t take long to be sorted out.
Our two-bedroom room was very, very spacious and clean. We had a large balcony with access from both rooms, and we had pool views. It was perfect.
Our second room was also perfect. It was cleaned every day, and we always had clean towels. This room had lovely sea views.
There were always plenty of sunbeds, although people do get up early to reserve them. However, if you do want to have a lie-in, you can still get a sunbed.
The location is quiet, but there is a supermarket outside the main reception doors, up the hill. There is also another way out through the bottom pool gate; if you turn left, it takes you around past the beach.
This hotel has really good entertainment. There is a singing and comedy duo who are a husband and wife, and they are so good — 10/10! They had us all laughing, singing and dancing.
The beaches aren’t the best. You do need water shoes if you like snorkelling, as there is plenty to see, but if you’re looking for a beautiful beach, I wouldn’t say these are the best. There are, however, some lovely walks.
There is plenty of food and a very good standard for an all-inclusive. The only thing I would say was missing was an omelette station, but that’s just my personal preference.
Before coming away, my soon-to-be son-in-law asked me if he could propose to my daughter. Of course, I said yes! We emailed the hotel, and they did an amazing job arranging everything and keeping it a secret.
For anyone planning on arranging a proposal here, I would definitely recommend contacting the hotel. They did an amazing job and helped make such a special moment even more memorable for us.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and made some amazing memories

Don’t go there is a lot better
Worst RIU hotel we have visited, hotel itself nice that’s where it stops, cases did not arrive for 6 days asked for a iron got nothing , didn’t offer to provide laundry for few items. Drink is reasonable an fair to good, FOOD is por in choice tasteless either cold or over cooked with limited choices, mini bar is a empty fridge,no sports bar,no onsite shop, no coffee shop/patisserie , Pepes is next to main buffet on ground level why it is not abLa Gomera bar by lower pool is astounding ,no swim up bar in adults pool, Can’t wait to leave this poor hotel

Overall great
We just returned from a week here, family of 4 kids 1 teen 1 under 8 in the height of school holidays in August. Room- Fabulous, really spacious, comfortable and always spotlessly clean. Air con in bedrooms was freezing though, had to get the fleece blankets out! Food- I was apprehensive due to reviews but the food was always really good. Typical all inclusive. Really didn't rate the Mandalay (chinese) ended up back in the buffet that night. The grill was our favourite, the view was outstanding and the food in the grill was the best meal we had. Breakfast was good, snack bar great if you like chips, the hotdogs weren't for us but thats personal preference. Drinks- Fabulous, really great drinks. Wine drinkable, cocktails tasty. The cruzcampo radler was delicious. We had no problem getting sunbeds, we never got the first few rows near the pool they were reserved very early but always managed 4 together even the days we headed down late. The entertainment let the hotel down for us, with it being a bit out if the way we hoped for a bit more of an evening. Kahoot every night grew abit boring, and other than the michael jackson tribute who was amazing there was limited entertainment. They really focus on the riu party. Again this was good but did feel like it was for the adults, almost rave like lol. Its a great hotel and we may return one day. Not a great hotel for children of the age I took in my opinion
