OK, but below expectations

The rating of the service could have been higher because, although we met some very friendly and helpful staff (such as Carlos and Cristiane in the restaurant), we also came across some who were rather unfriendly and even rude (mainly at the pool bar). The food at the only restaurant is quite varied and well prepared, but at busy times it can get rather chaotic and it takes a long time for dishes to be replenished. The hotel needs more care and maintenance (some furniture needs replacing, particularly the sofa beds; the doors need adjusting or even replacing with better ones, as they let all the noise from the corridors through). The daily cleaning of the communal areas could also be improved. But the biggest drawback is that the hotel allows guests to leave their towels on the sun loungers overnight – around two-thirds of the sun loungers remain ‘reserved’ like this for days on end, even when the owners of the towels don’t even turn up at the pool all day (we complained at reception, but they said there was nothing they could do). La Arena beach is wonderful and very close by; the walk there is easy even with children and well worth it (I’d recommend hiring a beach umbrella as the black sand gets very hot). Note: The sea-view rooms are situated on the top floors, where the balconies have no roof sun protection, awning or canopy; in other words, the sun shines into the living room all day long, making the interior extremely hot – you have to keep the curtains closed at all times, which defeats the purpose of the sea view. Fortunately, we managed to switch to a room on the floor below, with a balcony sheltered from direct sunlight (we lost the view we’d paid extra for, but we were much more comfortable as the sofa where the children slept is right by the window).

Tired, and not in need of work

I'd avoid. The staff are fantastic, hard working and very friendly. The rest leaves a lot to be desired.

Very disappointing more 2.5*

On arrival we upgraded to all inclusive from bed and breakfast (other family members we went with were all inclusive from booking) this was €735 for 2 adults and 1 child. While walking to our room i was really disappointed by the standard of the place, very tired looking with broken floor tiles and damaged walls. Our room was spacious and a great view of the sea (i emailed to asked for a top floor room which they gave us) it was also very basic and needed some tlc especially the bathroom! Beds were comfortable enough but only one pillow per person.
We had a room in block C, now i know this isn't the hotels fault but my sleep was disturbed every evening due to music and a barking dog coming from behind our hotel (wish i taken ear plugs)

On our 1st day we arrived mid afternoon so our 1st meal was in the evening, this was very disappointing, luke warm food! Then we went to play pool and noticed lots of sunbeds were still covered in towels so asked reception if we should be doing the same and she recommended it and there was nothing they could do (We had the same beds for the week and noticed a lot of the reserve beds didn't even get used some days!) We were lucky enough to get sunbeds around the top pool which was a lot smaller and quieter but unfortunately the edge of the pool was very ruff resulting in lots of cuts for my son (see my photos).

Back to our 1st night we went to the bar and ordered malibu and pineapple juice to be told we needed to pay, i was all inclusive so why? To be told you need to be on all inclusive plus (nothing was mentioned when i asked to upgrade) at the point id had enough and went back to reception to ask for a refund for the upgrade. This only happened the day after when the jet2 rep spoke with reception in Spanish. I was relieved to get our money back which meant we could enjoy our meals when we went out. Overall we had a good week because we pushed all the bad things to the back of our mind and spent every evening out. Los gigantes was a lovely place to visit for a meal at the harbour.

We wont be returning and even nicknamed the hotel eyesore instead or Isora.

Disappointing visit, well below 4 star standard

⭐ Definitely NOT a 4-star experience

We stayed at the Servatur Isora, Playa de la Arena, booked through Jet2, and were extremely disappointed.

From arrival, our rooms were well below what we would expect from a 4-star hotel. We experienced broken sofa beds, furniture, lights and cupboard doors, missing advertised amenities, stained bathrooms, poor housekeeping, inadequate Wi-Fi and air conditioning that barely cooled the rooms despite being set to 16°C.

The biggest concerns were the health & safety issues. Broken sunbeds had exposed sharp plastic, a snack-bar chair caught our daughter's back, and damaged pool flooring caused her to cut her foot. The pool was advertised as freshwater but was clearly saltwater, leaving our daughter with very sore skin and costing us €19 for cream. A kettle supplied to another room was also faulty, with the lid falling off when water was poured.

The restaurant had huge queues, food was sometimes incorrectly or not labelled at all, pool toilets were inadequate and the snack bar stopped serving food before its advertised closing time.

To be fair, the staff did try to help, and we appreciate the efforts made by the hotel staff and Jet2 representative Carlos. However, communication seemed to be a major issue, as many things we reported simply weren't resolved despite repeatedly asking.

After around four days, Carlos secured an upgrade for us. We appreciated this, but it only provided a separate seating area, bottled water and branded spirits and didn't resolve the fundamental problems.

On a positive note, the food and pools were the best things about the hotel, which made an otherwise very disappointing situation slightly better.

We booked this as a 4-star all-inclusive holiday, but the rooms and overall standard fell well short of what we expected. There were simply too many maintenance, cleanliness and safety issues for us to feel this represented a 4-star experience.

Definitely not 4 star

Advertised as 4* but we disagree. Paid for ‘superior suite’ but was not superior. Had a beautiful sea view. Suite was very tired, and no different from a non superior suite. Bathroom had no hand soap dispenser/no soap. Shower we had to hold in our hand to wash, and it was leaking through the shower head, pretty useless really. Couldn’t use magnifying mirror as was rusty and dirty. Shower glass filthy. No towels upon arrival had to go down and ask for some, no bathrobes/slippers as advertised (we probably wouldn’t have used them so no issue for us but you don’t get what you’ve paid for). Safe - we paid for a safe but was a real struggle to open sometimes. Beds comfy but creaked when moving about, and only 1 pillow each provided, did ask for another 2 but never got them. Fan in bedroom one fast speed only so couldn’t keep on in bed as too cold. Kitchen area we didn’t eat in room so no problem for us but not much cutlery/plates etc. Kettle very old and needs a good clean. Nice balcony but the metal table looked dirty and very messy. We were in room C404, across the back was a dog constantly barking at night so take ear plugs. (Not the hotel fault, not blaming them just advising you). Also a hotel/bar a bit behind the rooms blasting music until early hours some nights, (again not the hotel fault, they can’t do anything about that) so definitely take earplugs. We never had towels or bedding changed whilst there although the bed was made up daily. We complained to rep about bathroom and they got the cleaners to do a clean, they put chemicals around shower base and down toilet (it was black), but still glass wasn’t cleaned or the wall at side of sink. 3 pools, very busy, we used the smaller pool at the top and it was nice around that one, young children so not too noisy. Beware in the pool as the sides are very sharp when getting out/playing near the sides. Not enough sun brollies for the amount of sunbeds. And another annoyance around the pool, people leaving towels on sunbeds overnight and many not even coming back during day until very late, we complained to reception as we couldn’t get beds and they said they were not allowed to remove the towels even though ‘it’s forbidden to save a sunbed’ so we started to do the same, only way to ensure we got a bed each and a brolly! Food was okay although sometimes breakfast foods just warm. Snacks during day very much same daily. Some Salad stuff but only ever tuna to go with it, rest was burgers or hotdogs, chicken or fish nuggets, chips.. wouldn’t go again to this hotel as you definitely don’t get what you’re paying for, which was supposed to be a ‘superior suite with sea view’. Also beware of their all-inclusive policy as family member upgraded €780 when she got there (2 adults and a child) and couldn’t even get a Malibu with pineapple in the evening as pineapple juice wasn’t included in the evenings but it’s on the machine in snack bar during the day! Bit of a con really as to what is actually included… they said she should have paid for ‘all-inclusive plus’ but this was not explained when booking in at reception. Staff were generally lovely, no complaints whatsoever about them. We aren’t snobs but we do expect to get what we’ve paid for which should have been a ‘superior suite’ and definitely wasn’t. Couple near us also very unhappy with their room standard. And beware when going in room if you arrive early morning, a chap I was speaking to from London arrived at 5am went in room and there was a family sleeping! Imagine how frightening that was for both parties! Apparently reception ‘didn’t know how that happened’…..
