Marylanza Suites and Spa

Context of review

• 10 day break outside of exceptional summer heatwave of 2026
• seemed quiet in terms of numbers
• allocated refurbished room facing the road
• mid 60 year old couple.

Exceptional features

• large suite with comfortable beds and nice rainforest shower. Ample space on balcony for two chairs and table
• air conditioner was satisfactory for room
• excellent variety and quality of food and drink. Always a wonderful and very tasty fish and meat option
• never a queue for food which was frequently replenished
• staff in all areas are professional, friendly and genuinely work hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible
• don't know why I've not read many reviews of the Japanese restaurant. You are allowed to visit once and you must book it when you arrive. It was fun and the food wonderful
• always able to get a sunbed and parasol, anytime of the day. It's lovely to stroll to breakfast, return and still know you can get a bed, without any fuss.

Useful to know

• hotel is a good 15+ stroll to the busy beachfront, which is uphill on the way back. However, cabs are clean, tidy and easy to find
• there is a well stocked local supermarket a few minutes from the hotel
• you only get one towel each for a €5 deposit. If you want to swap during your stay, which is highly likely, they charge an extra €1 per towel
• Tui rep is always on hand and highly knowledgeable on the area

Featured need addressing

• woke the first morning to an awful stench. We were offered an alternative room in same block, with no guarantee of it smelling any better. Or we could trade to a room which has not been updated. We decided to stay and the drain was cleared. However, there were a few times we had to leave windows open, as did our neighbours. So, there is an underlying problem which needs urgent solution.
• my wife had an issue hanging her dresses in the refurbished wardrobe. She says it was obviously designed by a man, as even my shirts didn't sit well.

Service, cleanliness, location, and the overall look of the hotel – 10/10!

Food If someone complains about the food at this hotel, I honestly don’t know what they eat at home on a daily basis or what more they could possibly expect. The meals were fresh and varied, there was a great selection, and what impressed me most was the huge number of vegan and vegetarian options.

Vegans here are definitely not limited to fries and salad, as every day you can find things like plant-based milk, soy yoghurt, vegan mayonnaise, tofu, oyster mushrooms, seitan, vegan “minced meat”, plant-based “chicken” and many other options. Meat lovers, as well as fans of fish and seafood, also had plenty to choose from. It’s really hard to go hungry here — unless salmon and caviar for breakfast, octopus for lunch and shrimp for dinner still aren’t enough for you…

Pool In mid-September, there was absolutely no problem finding a sun lounger — in fact, it was almost difficult to decide which one to choose :) I would only give a small minus for the fact that the loungers cannot be reclined completely flat.

I mostly used the blue pool because it was larger and you could comfortably swim there. The water temperature was perfect.

I would also give a small minus for the fact that there is no music playing at the blue pool, while at the green pool the music is sometimes so loud that it would be difficult to spend much time there.

Room I had a suite in Building E with a beautiful view of the golf course. Although the room itself had not been renovated, I didn’t notice any actual drawbacks. It was huge and spacious, with a large bathroom, a kitchenette and a comfortable bed. It was cleaned every day and our towels were replaced regularly.

The only thing I would complain about is the air conditioning. Ours worked well and cooled the room properly, but it was incredibly loud. During the first few nights, I kept waking up because it sounded like a washing machine during the spin cycle. After a few days, I got used to the noise.

Children at the hotel If you usually choose adults-only hotels, you’ll be happy to know that there aren’t many children at Marylanza outside the peak season, so their presence isn’t bothersome at all.

Reception The hotel lobby itself is exceptionally beautiful and elegant, but unfortunately, the air conditioning in this area simply cannot keep up, so it feels very stuffy there throughout the day.

Overall impressions If I ever return to Tenerife, I would seriously consider staying at Marylanza again. I normally don’t return to the same hotel twice, but I felt exceptionally comfortable here.

If I really had to look for some negatives, I think the thing that bothered me the most was… the hotel’s plastic neon wristbands. Because of their intense colour, they often ruined my holiday photos or outfits, and on top of that, the edges were quite sharp, so it was easy to accidentally scratch yourself with them or catch them on delicate clothing.

2nd time at this hotel so we knew what to expect. Had an upgrade when we arrived so overlooked the golf course in a newly refurbished suite which was really lovely . Food was lovely in the restaurant and also in bar by the pool. We stayed in Block H which was by the green pool. Very loud music every day and our room was opposite this did travel which wasn't ideal! English channels on tv which was good if you needed it. Slow close doors might be an idea as youngsters in the room next door and when they come home from clubbing at 6am the doors slamming would not be the best! Lovely music by the pool in the evening and also nice bar in reception so plenty of choice where to go i in the evening. We walked down thd the front every day which is about a 15 minute walk . All in all would recommend this for a lovelh break .
