La Siesta Tenerife

We picked this hotel for its location and on previous years had a look inside at the pool area so this suited us. Initial reaction good choice.

1. Hotel reception and housekeepers friendly.
2. Room and exceptional size of bed good.
3. Pool area very good and the addition of a sunroof bed area with showers adult only extremely good.

NOW THE BAD REVIEW

1 Restaurant food had good days and bad lacking choice although themed each night everything looked the same as another night. Pizza and pasta was there every night if you wanted it. 2. You have 1 set of knife and fork which had to do starter and main course no available replacements to be found. If you chose to have dessert spoons they are available by ice cream counter if you needed a fork out of luck. 3. My biggest Complaint are the COCKROACHES which are rife all over the restaurant on the wall, by the coffee machines even on the tables and floors also on staircase to restaurant I have seen ANTS on the hot plate area around by the bowls of hot food in the evening time on the breakfast cereal/fruit counter area and coffee machine area. I approached one male waiter to show him of a cockroach on the wall as we were leaving the restaurant this was above a few buggies left at the side and made me sick, I’m glad I did’t have little ones with me. The waiter didn’t seem bothered. I understand different countries have different views on these things but this is totally unacceptable and needs to be shut down and fumigated ASAP. I dread to think about the kitchens we chose to eat out for some of the time to avoid. Such a shame as this lets down what could be a very good hotel. Would I come back ? Not unless completely rectified . Could I recommend to friends, no.

When we first arrived, I was immediately impressed by how clean and shiny the floors were. The hotel is in a lovely location, not too far from the beach, with plenty of shops nearby.

Our room was spotless throughout our stay, and the cleaners were always lovely and friendly. The restaurant always had a good variety of food, and we especially loved that they had a different cuisine theme every night. They also have a barbecue outside every Wednesday, which was a lovely touch.

We stayed during my sister’s birthday, and the hotel went above and beyond by personally delivering a complimentary bottle of bubbly to her room. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made her birthday feel special.

We also didn’t see any signs of cockroaches or ants anywhere during our stay, which was reassuring. The pool area was lovely, with three pools, and there were always plenty of sunbeds available. The adults only rooftop area was also really nice and a great place to relax.

The pool bar staff were especially lovely. Ramont was exceptional, always smiling, friendly and providing such lovely service.

The staff were also absolutely amazing with my two year old niece. I unfortunately didn’t catch one staff member’s name, but he looked quite young, had quite a few tattoos and a piercing underneath his eye. My niece absolutely adored him! Whenever he saw her, he would always come over, play peekaboo with her and make her laugh. She would get so excited whenever she saw him. Even if she was upset, he would come over and try to cheer her up and make her laugh. It was honestly so lovely to see how kind and patient he was with her.

The hotel also offers photoshoots, which we decided to do during our stay. The photos came out absolutely lovely and we were really impressed with them. They also offer a really good deal on the price, so it was definitely worth doing and gave us some lovely memories to take home with us.

Overall, we had such a lovely stay and really enjoyed our time at the hotel. The friendly staff, cleanliness, food and atmosphere made the whole experience even better, and we would definitely consider coming back.

Us: We are a family of 4, our kids are 21 & 18. We had two rooms next door to each other (141 & 142) Staying for 1 week all inclusive.

Location: The hotel is located in a great place close to the beach, bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets.

Hotel: The hotel is lovely and clean, plenty of areas to sit and relax. There is free wifi throughout but not always great reception. Can hire pool towels for €20 euros deposit each, these are changed at a cost of €1. You are not given a wrist band, everything is scanned on your room card which shows your basis i.e. all inclusive / half board etc.

Rooms: Clean and modern, usb sockets along with normal plug sockets. Free safe as we were all inclusive. TV with British channels. Fridge, hair dryer, kettle, shower gel, hand wash and shampoo provided. The rooms are cleaned regularly and when requested, they didn't always replace the mugs or provide new milk etc. We brought our own tea bags and bought milk for the fridge. Air con is included, not the strongest but it was fine.

We had a late flight, requested late check out - this cannot be guaranteed until the morning you leave. it is €11 per hour. If not you use the pool/spa showers.

Pool/Sunbeds: The rules were not to save the sunbeds, every morning towels were out and sunbeds taken for hours with no people on them - the rules were not enforced. Either don't have a rule or enforce the rules. The pool bar offers snacks and drinks from 10am. Some of the sun beds were very tired and could do with replacing. The adult only area is on the roof, access via your room key for over 18s only. Sadly there is no shade apart from the canopy on the day beds, which isn't great. 5 day beds which are "reserved" early. A number of sun beds available too. No pool so people used the showers to cool down. To get a drink you had to go from floor 4 to 0.

We didn't visit the spa as this was chargeable.

Food: It was standard all inclusive food, some good and some not so good. The food allergies were not really clear. Always tables available but the times were late. Breakfast 7-10am; Lunch 1-4pm; Tea: 7-10pm. (summer)

Entertainment: The kids disco was late for little kids - 9-9.30pm. Entertainment followed at 10pm. Some were good and some were ok. One was extremely loud which made the singer unbearable to listen too, this was a shame as she worked really hard to try interact with the guests.

Staff: We found them all very hard working, friendly and helpful.
