Playa de Las Americas

This luxurious apartment hotel is located in the south of Tenerife, between Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas. It has fantastic views of the Golf Course and Atlantic Ocean. The airport is just a bout 15 minutes’ drive away. There are public transportation links a few steps from the hotel and offer bus service to the area's tourist attractions. Guests will have the opportunity to rest in the outdoor pool area sunbathing, relaxing under the shadow of an umbrella or having a refreshing swim. The rooms decorated with bright and soothing colours are equipped with all the needed amenities for a comfortable and memorable stay.

Made the best of it but we were shocked!

First and most importantly the staff raise the rating to 3 5. Would have easily been 2 5!

Positive points: Hotel cleaners are always cleaning, trying their best. Rooms are well equipped and modern. Resort staff such as reception team friendly and answer questions. Taxis are easily booked at reception and on time to greet you. Shuttle bus to the beach is convenient and on time _ nice touch for free. Snack bar new and modern. Constantly replenished and the area is clean. Again, staff do try to keep the resort clean (pool, bars, toilets..) Dis agree with certain reviews ref cockroaches, saw a couple in resort and 1 in room.. per night we sprayed the cock roach spray provided under sink cupboard in access doors and drain in shower ... OK.

Little niggles: Sunbeds are a challenge, same everywhere but staff could help by long reserved beds, towels removed. The pools and area are not big enough for the number of guests. Photos do not reflect true sizing. The restaurant was nice but again really small for the number of guests. Even with cleaning certain guests make bars, pools and areas sticky and dirty. Birds in the main restaurant, fly in due to windows open, peck at buffet. Not hygienic. Needs addressing. Agree with latest Facebook review, certain cliental is letting the resort down. Behaviour of certain guests is not managed and with this you feel uneasy and disturbed. Due to the above point and the hotel inability to confront we viewed foul language, broken glass around pool, shouting and abuse of staff. Not relaxing and security to shy to help. We avoided it and went off-site . Agree with other reviews, yes, meals somewhat repetitive and sadly chicken and pork spare ribs were under cooked. Us and other guests saw this and did not eat!

In summary: Not in reality meeting the standard of other 3 or 4 star resorts we have stayed in. Tougher stance on guest behaviour for safety, well being and enjoyment of other guests much needed. Yes, many steps and they are steep and if mopped slippery but if honest, it's part of the resort and be prepared to get your steps in!

Great hotel

Still here on the last few days of our holiday. We have a split level room which is ideal for two teenagers and us two parents! Room is lovely and clean and cleaned daily. Large triple sized double bed for us parents and two single for kids. Haven’t needed to use the kitchen in the room really but it’s handy if we need to and we put bottled water in the fridge. Air con upstairs and downstairs - tv in each of the bedrooms. Food is great - only eaten lunch once which is today and it is fabulous. We’ve been eating from the snack bar which is also great . Inclusive drinks are lovely especially the mojitos. We’ve mainly sat around the large pool as the others are small. There’s a pool with a slide for toddlers away from the main pool. We’ve not stayed for any hotel entertainment on an evening because we’ve ventured out. The hotel itself is a taxi ride from everywhere although tonight we’re walking into Los Cristianos. Taxis are on average around 5/6 euros and the hotel order them and they arrive within 2 minutes. I would recommend this hotel to families. Enjoy!

Excellent rooms, pools, food and service !!

Just returned from our 3rd all inclusive stay at Gran Oasis and the hotel facilities have improved every time. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. We stayed in a room with a private rooftop Solarium overseeing the hotel and great views of Los Cristianos. The pool, entertainment and hotel facilities are excellent including the Spa and kids play areas. The food selection is brilliant and varies every day with different themes and inspirations. The hotel, bar and restaurant staff are all very friendly, accommodating, and responsive to questions and suggestions. Sincere appreciation goes to Marina, Vera, Miguel, Christian and Javier for all their good humour, attentive care and skills as great hosts!

We highly recommended Gran Oasis for familes of all ages and can't wait for our next visit!

Muchas Gracias! :-)

Amazing!

Had an amazing holiday here! Beautiful hotel, great food, fantastic staff! The be happy entertainment team were fantastic especially a wonderful Norwegian woman who was fantastic with the kids. Plenty to do within the hotel as well as the surrounding areas. We spent the majority of our week within the hotel and out a couple days to siam park, the monkey park and the beach. Will most definitely be booking again 🤩

Gran Oasis – Still Feels Like Coming Home

Currently Here…

Gran Oasis – Still Feels Like Coming Home

We’ve been coming to Gran Oasis for about 10 years now, so it’s fair to say it’s become a second home. This year though, we were properly nervous before arriving. The negative comments and Facebook reviews had us questioning whether we should just book somewhere else. Glad we didn’t.

The Excellent

Honestly, the improvements over the last 12 months caught us off guard.

The new snack bar is great, and the electric doors — simple idea, massive difference. No more birds wandering in or flies treating themselves to a free lunch. The whole area just feels better.

Room keys are gone too. Everything runs off your wristband now, which is a relief. No more juggling key cards by the pool or that familiar walk of shame back to reception because you’ve left yours in the room.

The new entertainment area has completely changed the evenings. It actually feels like a proper venue now — more space, better atmosphere, and much more enjoyable for everyone. The new acts have gone down really well too. You can tell they’ve put proper effort into freshening things up. That said, it was nice to still see some of the familiar faces on stage. Getting that balance right between new and familiar isn’t easy, but they’ve nailed it.

Even the elephants have had a facelift, which made us smile.

But the staff are still the main reason we keep coming back. After ten years, the warm welcome from familiar faces is what makes Gran Oasis feel like more than just a hotel.

The Good 👍

The grounds are well kept, the place looks good, and the atmosphere was spot on — plenty going on without ever feeling overcrowded. For families especially, it hits that sweet spot between lively and relaxed.

Food’s always going to divide opinion, but we had no complaints. Between the restaurant and the improved snack bar, there was always something decent available.

Worth saying too — management are clearly listening to feedback and putting money where it’s needed. After a decade of visits, this is probably the biggest step forward we’ve seen.

The Bad 🤔

One thing that comes up a lot online is hygiene. And yes, the hotel should always be on top of that. But let’s be honest — some of the responsibility sits squarely with guests.

The number of adults and kids we saw walking out of the toilets without washing their hands was grim. One bloke came straight out of a cubicle, didn’t wash his hands, grabbed the kid waiting outside and said “We’re late for dinner!” before marching off to the restaurant. Lovely. 🤢

It’s easy to blame a hotel when a bug goes around, but if people can’t manage basic handwashing, that’s not really a hotel problem.

As for the birds in the restaurant — yes, the odd one swooped through the dining area. But we never once saw a bird anywhere near the actual buffet. With the new layout and doors, if one did somehow get in there, it’d probably have a harder time getting out. Some reviews make it sound like seagulls are queuing up at the carvery. That wasn’t our experience at all. Staff were constantly on it, and the standards were fine.

No hotel is perfect, and there are always bits that could do with updating. But given how much has changed in the last year alone, they’re clearly heading the right way.

Final Thoughts ❤️

We arrived expecting to be let down. We weren’t. Not even close.

Do we miss the music by the pool? Yeah, we do. But you have to remember — there are 210 rooms here. Average three people per room, that’s 630 guests at any one time. The hotel has to cater for the majority, not just the ones who fancy a bit of background music while they’re topping up their tan. Same goes for the food — feeding 630 people three times a day is no small task, and there’s never going to be a menu that keeps every single person happy. You can’t please everyone, and we get that.

Gran Oasis is still one of our favourite places to stay. The improvements are impressive, the entertainment’s better than ever, and the staff remain brilliant. Ten years on, it still feels like coming home — and that’s probably the best thing we can say about it.

We’ll be back. ☀️🏨🍹
